Has anyone opened chest since the "improved loot" system has gone into effect?

How much gold have you spent?

I've only gotten three high level unique weapons; two griffon bows and a walking death dagger.  You may be right.

Given the Sulevin blade has a chance of 1 e -5, any amount amount of gold spent below 3M (3e6 gold) wouldn't even be very statistically accurate, and probably requires about 3 billlion (12.5 e 6 items total) to be both statistically signifigant and accurate to a some small degree of deviation error. There are math professionals that could give a more precise analysis of the statistics data however.

Yes, across thousands and tens of thousands of MP accounts, some will eventually accrue multiples of end-game weapons. Casino's do occasionally award large jackpots too, but the House always wins because the odds are in their favor.

Very few people have come anywhere close to 3M gold accrued (requires the order of 1e3 hours played), let alone individually 3 Billion (roughly 1e6 hrs or higher for even more accuracy). From a player (and even a dev I presume) standpoint, it is difficult to accumulate data and prove anything. I don't have the numbers of total gold earned for every platform, but this weekend's results should be very interesting henceforth. I strongly suspect BW will use this data in future planning with the loot system (and other things).

Your odds to get a Sulevin Blade before was roughly 1:12000. It is now 1:10000

... but this was just the first step and modifying the loot progression as a whole.

Getting duplicate "uniques" is the most frustrating thing personally.

I haven't got a Boon of the Spoon, which is a level 16 unique 2-Handed weapon, but i've got 5x Axe of the Dragon Hunters (level 19).

OK the RNG didn't roll high enough for a Sulevin, but i'd much rather have a lower level unique than yet another duplicate.

Ditto getting my second Superb Cooldown Amulet, when i'm missing so many other purple Accessories...

Some sort of RNG-nudge to improve/guarantee the chances of an un-owned item would ease disappointment of seeing a Purple, and getting a duplicate - which in the current system is worthless.

While it's appreciated to see real numbers, and see consideration of #3 and #4, it's #6 being reworked that would help significantly i think.

Yeah I agree. The current system is so bad, that it needs a complete and drastic change. Items placed in a store to be bought along side chests, even if the higher end items cost over 100,000 gold.

The loot/progression system in this game is just comical and ludicrous. The entire system needs a major overhaul.

I'm so over and done with the current lottery based loot system, that I may be joining the many that have given up on this game.

The baby steps, while appreciated, at making things better, are just baby steps and mild changes. This game needs Major changes.

And one more thing, and I'll be done.

Why, why, why, did I say why yet?

Does the loot system feel the need to give you SOOOOOO many runes?

This is high trolling from the loot chest. There is maybe 2 or three weapons we need runes for, especially once we reach the level 20 blues, and are just waiting on our final upgrade. YET, we will get 100 superb runes, before we get 1 weapon to use to use the rune on?

Can the dice roll for superb runes be adjusted so we are not constantly seeing purples in chest only to see another rune?

You're welcome to wait until the next drop of improvements before spending gold BUT I will say that on top of my plans to add a bunch more rare and unique items in to the tiers I also might pull some out :bandit:

Saw a level 15 reaver in perilous with the sulevin blade. He didn't even have the tier 2 armor. So sad.

May be vanity, but I tend to the equip the armour I find looks nicest, not necessarily the highest protection.

FINALLY at least a blue life-drain ring. Maybe it's just me but accessory drops seem to be improved, I've gotten a few good ability rings I didn't have before. Charging bull ring ftw.

I got 3 purple items in my commendation chest.  One rune, one shield and a weapon, none that i could use but 3 purps in one chest was impressive.

I would go an alternative route all together. Crafting system that acknowledges duplicates occur, so like allows input of duplicates of the same name, and outputs a new weapon of the same tier while retaining one of the originals (marking the original that wishes to be retained). Would cost tier related materials, or 'boss credit' style drops or other interesting tidbits of course, and probably should only give lateral or below tier uniques... i.e. got two bows, lose one, get a (different) bow. It'd allow for addressing the unique issues with less overall balancing work to the loot system directly while providing players an avenue for progression.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I was saving my cash, but in a moment of vodka-induced weakness last night I bought a few chests... And got a static cage ring, displacement field ring, and barrier ring.

Now my only problem is how awesome to make my keeper. Great mage, or GREATEST mage?

It sure can!
I can't recall the exact split between each item type but how would everyone rank their needs for high end items?

For example:
40% weapons
40% accessories
10% armor upgrades
5% runes
5% armors

That's actually a pretty excellent breakdown.  I might nudge armor upgrades down to 5% --  I feel like I get them all the time but that would leave the dilemma of where to allocate the extra 5%.  To give it to weapons or accessories seems dispropotionately advantageous.  But then I don't want to see it on runes either.  Maybe armors?

Such a good question, and one to address with great care I suspect.

I just looked ay my own balance of retained purples, which break down as follows:

22% weapons (14) - but have salvaged a good number of these

36% accessories (23)

00% armor upgrades (0)

13% runes (8) - have crafted with a good number of these

29% armors (18) - have crafted all but one of these (i.e. only one in a chest)

In truth I think I would be hard pressed to argue for an increased drop in any area at the expense of any other.

If I would advocate any drop rate being increased it is specifically on the Heal on Kill ring (purples and blues) for people in higher 'buckets'

and I don't ask selfishly because I am alright there, but it has such a beneficial impact on play style at higher difficulty,

it seems such a shame for folk who have grinded 2 million gold,

through the randomness of RNG to not have one or more after playing the game so long.

Of all the useless post I've seen BioWare post over the last few months (sorry, no offense), this one's actually very good. Very detailed and easy to understand pertaining to something we players always have interest in. Thank you!

Beware balancing for long time players. New players are still far from unlikely, and they need new armours in particular. Runes, too, at least occasionally.

Would it be possible to make salvaged runes yield 2 cloth instead of 1? People might be happier to see them then.

iirc, higher end runes salvage for more materials & higher tier materials.

I won't offer any percentages, but I've been playing for several weeks and only just looted a belt. One belt. I have 4 amulets (ever) and maybe 7-8 rings.

So yeah, accessories could use a push.

Most people that I have talked to clamor over the scores of weapons that they don't have and want rather than the one or two accessories that they want. So I would recommend putting weapons at 50% and accessories at 30% if it were up to me.

Isn't it 3 mat types per rune across the board, and they only vary by tier?

Except for those without the Heal on Kill Accessory. . . That's a game changer, so is critical bonus damage, and superb cooldown & stamina amulets. Occasionally skill rings (wall of fire / static cage, etc) but most skill rings are garbage.

Personally I just need a few accessories + dagger weapons, and the occasional high end armor upgrade. High end being those +16 stat upgrades that I've only heard about.

Yeah, If the put a pricetag on the superb HoK ring, and told me it was 200.000g, I would grind the next few months getting it.

Yeah HOK is a game changer, I ain't gonna lie. My thinking is weapons do so much for a build though, auto attack dps, skill dps and those lovely procs too as well as the attributes that go along with it. Plus there are alot more weapons that can be attained vs accessories. Bigger percent weapons means hopefully a bigger net to catch what you want. Oh my +16 constitution and +16 cunning arms say hello...
