I bought the game a few hours ago. It installed great. configured great. but when i press play, it just goes to the desktop. i looked at the task manager and it says it is not responding. i checked the file size (11.4GB) and uninstalled and reinstalled several times and still the same problem.
Any suggestions?

Your system is miles below the requirements, so any symptoms it exhibits have no bearing on how a proper game computer works or doesn't work, sorry.  Laptop video is also a dead end for upgrading.

There have been reports that certain of the wide screen resolution settings can have a similar affect on some combinations of video drivers and video cards.  Try different settings if the symptom affects you despite actually meeting the game's real requirements.

Should that not help, be aware that the interaction is tightly integrated with the game's graphics, and you have three parts that must communicate with each other to deal with the graphics.  The easiest thing to change is a video driver, and the past two years, a great many of the geforce drivers have been faulty, so it may take a couple of tries there, it that's what has become corrupted.

Next to video drivers in ease of installation is Direct3D.  (And if you have either Vista or Windows 7, you need both Dx10 / Dx11, as well as Dx9).  Get fresh copies to install.  Then retest the game.  Last of the three is to uninstall the game and then reinstall it.

Some folks (better config) are seeing the same behavior with machines that meet the requirements. They have uninstalled and reinstalled and fixed the problem. It's worth a try.

I have reinstalled it 4 times and I still am running into the same problem. I shouldn't have to be a computer wiz to figure out how to fix this game. That is why I pay for it instead of making it. I understand problems can happen but, geez this is bad. I give up and will have to return it today. Sorry after 10 hours of reading forums and trying everything under the sun I finally lost my patience. Hopefully I get my money back.

This may be the most pertinent part of this thread that needs a repeat closer to the end.
