Mostly they just want to avoid clipping, regarding the long hair styles anyway.
Sad to say that they didn't really avoid this either. Heck, Blackwall's beard clips through the collar of his Skyhold getup, even though it can't be customized.
But just the same, it's a shame that they didn't take advantage of the plethora of short/tied up hairstyles that exist. Heck, there's like a gajillion ways to braid hair.

Exactly. Long hairs would be nice, but clipping is no excuse not to have other styles. In fact, if they're not going to have long hair, they need more of the other styles...

Great, I really need to get my mage a bigger jaw, so that the beard does not become unattached at some points near the cheeks. The magical beard I call it.
Does that mean the floating side burn, female inq btw, is due to a narrow face / cheek bones?

Orlais should be renamed The Buzzcut Empire.
Half the women are rocking male military haircuts.

I can't understand. The character design of this game is great. What happened with the inquisitor in general? It's just not hairs -the advisers look very nice- but clothing! I can see the idea behind the Skyhold's pyjama... okay. But why beige? Why that shape? Everyone else looks great but the Inquisitor (which is, by the way, the PROTAGONIST of your game)
There is NO excuse. We know you can animate hairstyles (Josie's, Calpernia's...), heck... even DA2 had better hair options... We know clipping is not a valid point here since there are many other things that clip through armor... WHAT HAPPENED? The character creator is a great tool but then you give us those hairstyles...
I guess we'll never know the truth.

Blackwall's beard clips through several helmets. However, I think that's an intentional display of its might.

Being able to save an face adjustment as a preset would be great! But for now I'm happy to be able to change the eye color of my inquisitor.

The textures bother me A LOT in the game, particularly with character models and clothing. There is a complete lack of shading on the majority of clothing, very noticeable with NPCs, and I doesn't look like the reused assets even got a facelift from DA2.
I understand that armor tinting limits the amount of detail you can put in for the sake of colour variation, but I'm not certain the payoff is worth it, in my opinion. I know a lot of people love the tinting system, but I think i'd rather have much more detailed armor than one in every colour.

Given that the game was rebuilt on Frostbite 3 it seems odd to be reusing something from DA2 ![]()
You are right, many people do love the tinting system, and there's a lot to be said for a little tinting variety.
Anyway, you don't need one in every colour, just pick the one you like ![]()

That doesn't influence the fact that the raw models have been re-weighted into FB3 though.
I'm admittedly not terribly up to date, since my Quake-3-modding days are long past me, but the model itself has nothing to do with the engine it's used in. One way or the other, it has to be weighted and jointed and animated and all that jazz, so someone has to either build a new mesh from scratch or just use an already finished one and at least skip that step.
One of my pet peeves with the re-usage of assets is how they didn't even do away with all the Kirkwall-logos everywhere. It got turned into Thedas' version of Hard Rock Café - at least, that's the only way I can explain it to myself.

Just got a notification of a patch for the game. No Black Emporium visible as of yet.
Checked my new game and my end game save files, nothing on the map, on the war table or the creepy book room.
It's not unlocked to access until the 5th May.

So the patch is just the preparation for it to unlock itself tomorrow.

Pretty much. The patch itself contained a few extra things for mp a friend told me (multiple salvaging for example), but so far I haven't seen anything for single player personally. Emporium and the mp DLC won't be available until the 5th, guessing a northern hemisphere timezone, so just under 24 hours to go.

Shouldn't even be called the Black Emporium. Something along the lines of "not really black, but not grey Emporium" would be more fitting.
The Bald Emporium
Anyway, I honestly think it's a little strange -as in: why do that instead of that? Priorities much?- they decided to create new thrones instead of adding a bunch of hairstyles; which it seems almost everyone wants.
I mean, not to look a gift horse in the mouth and all...

Lol now that you mention it... It is REALLY strange. Maybe making thrones is easier (being a static object and all) than animating hair for all races and gender but... I don't know....

The Kirkwall throne seems rather fitting for a Dwarven Inquisitor if you ask me.

I must've missed the part in the game where the hair isn't static. ![]()

I am sorry if I explained myself wrong. I meant hair meshes are different depending on the race, I think. So it takes more effort to do one hair that matches all races and genders than one throne that matches all butts.
