Given that the game was rebuilt on Frostbite 3 it seems odd to be reusing something from DA2

You are right, many people do love the tinting system, and there's a lot to be said for a little tinting variety.

Anyway, you don't need one in every colour, just pick the one you like  :)

*snip*

As you've shown there, by giving variety you're sacrificing the complexities of a single focus, you don't get nuanced variation and subtle changes, you get heavy handed, flat variations of what could have been a nice piece (ie armor, or NPC clothing).

Looking at an early version of the game, its obvious (even with crappy res screenshots) this was in there at some point, but was sacrificed for what I can only assume tinting

I'm not suggesting they get rid of it, but the feature definitely needs work. On that note, for the Emporium I wouldn't be adverse to some fully polished, textured armor and robes.

Tomorrow's the day guys! :D

Honestly, I wish the patch could be "leaked" early like JoH... :/

I can't understand. The character design of this game is great. What happened with the inquisitor in general? It's just not hairs -the advisers look very nice- but clothing! I can see the idea behind the Skyhold's pyjama... okay. But why beige? Why that shape? Everyone else looks great but the Inquisitor (which is, by the way, the PROTAGONIST of your game)

There is NO excuse. We know you can animate hairstyles (Josie's, Calpernia's...), heck... even DA2 had better hair options... We know clipping is not a valid point here since there are many other things that clip through armor... WHAT HAPPENED? The character creator is a great tool but then you give us those hairstyles...

I guess we'll never know the truth.

Such is life.  -_-

PS3/X360 happened. That's why you almost never see such things as properly animated cloth and moving hair with longer hairstyles, same thing as not being able to holster your weapon in ME 3. Too taxing on 10 year old hardware. If only Bioware followed the example set by The Witcher 3 and didn't give in into doing versions of the game for the old ass tech we could have seen a much more different game...

They can (and shouldn't) hardly justify ridding a considerably large portion of their customer base of the third installment in a trilogy by making it next gen exclusive, just so those of us who've had 500 bucks lying around get their wavy hair.

I'm on the Xbone and I don't feel cheated for that reason.

Yeah, but they themselves said that doing a version of the game for the old gen consoles limited them in the tech department quite a bit. Ok, not hair or clothing but gameplay perhaps? We could have seen a much more dynamic battlefield with destructible environment being used for an advantage in a fight for example, they showed it prior to the release of the game, now it's just a few destroyed static barrels. If that ain't limiting then I don't know. Oh well, we can wait for Dragon Age 4 and play Witcher in the meantime.

Will it be released at midnight, or will we have to wait for the morning?

No, I absolutely agree with that notion.

It's just a sad fact, that it's really BAD mojo to have a directly linked installment release on a different generation than the previous ones. You just can't do that, despite all the potential upsides it may have. I'm not saying that it was the best for the sheer technical side of the game, but I agree with them in their decision to do it anyways.

It's her Tier 4 armor. She has it in my game.

I was just checking because mine's updating now and it looks like a large update.  Could it be downloading ahead of time to avoid the rush, with an activation time of midnight?  I think that's the way digital downloads of the main game worked.  I'm really pumped about seeing the BE.

Uh, have you played the games?

Nearly every asset created for DA2 is used in Inquisition. All the weapons, all the armor, all the body models; they're all there.

I dunno about body models. They appear different, even if the animation itself is reused.

Many of the enemies use the DA2 body models (the White Claw rogues are Isabela, the rebel sellswords are Anders, etc.), and all the race-restricted armors are restricted by race because they have the DA2 body models (and there are no variants, because race was static in DA2).

Even many of the placeables and level models are from DA2.

Sure, I've just learned something about how assets are used in this thread.

It was a question and I stand advised.

Sorry, I just thought it was an unusual remark given how blatant a lot of the asset reuse is.

It will be interesting to see what they do in future games, since they will be switching to PBR.

Almost all of that is still in the game? I don't think Cassandra has that much bulk anymore, but Vivienne, Varric, and the Inquisitor all have those components, and they look mostly similar (though the final shaders can really go crazy at times). You can even see the Inquisitor's base armor is still there, and the Tier 3 arms, breastplate, and jacket are layered on.

My update hit 178% updated.  Had to kill it and restart as it was several eons away from finishing according to the ticker.
