Hey I am new to ME3 on pc and I can't figure out how to reload cancel.  On the xbox it was as simple as pressing a power during the reload animation and this worked even during cool down.  The problem I'm having on pc is that while it does work if you reload > user power it does not work if you reload > try to use power on cooldown.  When I'm still on the cooldown I just get the message on screen saying you can't use powers during cooldown but the animation does not cancel.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?  I also read that on PC you're supposed to use the medigel key but that appears to only work in multiplayer.  Any help would be appreciated.

TL:DR - how do you reload cancel while a power is on cooldown in single player ME3.

As a side note...getting use to playing games on PC is rough.  I am really struggling with movement and aiming :(

On PC, you cannot reload-cancel using a power that is on cooldown. That appears to be a console exclusive.

You could try these other options:

1. If you are standing out in the open, hold the fire button and then press the 'do everything button' (spacebar by default). You cannot be near cover though, otherwise you end up taking cover instead of reload-cancelling.

2. If you are docked into cover, hold the trigger and then press the 'do everything button' (spacebar by default).

3. If you have specced at least one point into a grenade power, bind your grenades to a power slot. Throw away all your grenades. Then when you have no grenades, you can reload-cancel using the grenade hotkey. But this gets annoying if you happen to pick up grenades without realizing it.

4. Hotkey Medi-gel and use that hotkey to reload cancel. but this only works as long as you have full health. (Although I think I once read that occasionally it thinks you are not at full health even if you are and you end up using medi-gel.

And that is all I got. Sorry.

I play single player on Xbox and multiplayer on both Xbox and PC, so I understand some of the differences between the platforms when it comes to pros/cons.

Unlike you, I actually found movement and camera easier on PC since you can move and turn the camera at the same time on PC unlike Xbox. But I find casting powers harder on PC since I tend to move my fingers off the WASD keys and then I end up not moving at because I put my fingers back on the wrong keys.

Thanks for the reload cancelling tips.  It sucks that it's so much more complicated in single player.  The game definitely will use up your medigel when you have full health.  It was happening to me which is what prompted me to make this thread as I couldn't figure out how to pull it off.

I think my movement problems are just because this is my first time ever playing a PC shooter so it's just very foreign to me.  I've played starcraft and what not but never a shooter until now.  I do like that there's no auto-aim and you can turn the camera but I have the same problem as you with missing keys while trying to go back to wasd.  I end up doing a lot of standing still and getting shot lol.

Yeah, what Red said.  You can in fact use the medigel key for reload canceling in SP, but only if you haven't taken any health damage, otherwise it does the medigel animation and refills your health.  And it will sometimes glitch and do the animation and burn gels sometimes anyway at full health, I could never figure out why that happened.

Most of the time I wouldn't bother with it in SP except for when power reloading.

Doesn't light melee also cancel the animation?

Though, I am not sure how much time is saved using that...

You can cancel the reload animation with any animation, but the problem is some (like the full SP medigel animation) take longer than the reload animation.

I also tried the medigel trick.  I got the feeling that medigel heals the whole team, so it may activate when anyone is below full health.  I noticed it works after team mates take a good deal of damage even if I have not taken any.

The first time, the Medi-gel glitched for me on my last run. I think I have done this reload cancel trick without knowing, for my SR. I used one, then two, then three; the game still showed it was usable. It would consume all of my Medi-gel if I used it even though everybody was at full health.
