Well, it really didn't feel like a victory. It was, but it didn't feel like it. It was emotionally misengineered.

It goes up, down, down, down, way the hell down and then it goes WTF.

I know - but heck man.  No balls, no blue chips.  They tried something new (likely under the crunch of time constraints), and it was a rancid greed gas giant of a dogfart.

But its done and gone.  If they learned the lesson and have moved on, then they might be able to bring back the magic.

I'd like to know if they can.

You can't really try something new or try to alter the essence of the storyline in the third act of the third act of a trilogy .... That's why the ending didn't make sense.

You really felt like you accomplished something with those endings?  Did you get up and shout with joy screaming yes Yes YES, we won, eat that Reaper scum!?

Yes, I felt like I accomplished something.

No, I didn't feel like I had just been taken on the power-fantasy, wish-fulfillment trip of a lifetime, and I'm alright with that.

I sat there looking at that then screen.  THIS is what I had hoped for?  Worse, I paid for!  I even checked my EMS and then went to you-tube to see where I had messed up.  That ending was like sliding down a 10 story waterslide into a pool full of used baby diapers and left over fat from Fight Club's soap making operation.

Colorful, as always, but it still beats many of the alternatives.

I read up on the Dark Energy plot.  Lets just say that we are in agreement on that one.

Now we just need BioWare to come in by kicking the door open and showing us the shiny.

Sandal's voice:  You like the shiny?

One day the magic will come back, all of it.  Everyone will be just like they were.  The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.  When he rises, everyone will see."   :D

I dare say it's guaranteed we'll finally get some real Mass Effect news at E3, and not just a video like last year saying "Hey we're working on it!"

But I hope it's not just a quick teaser and a title reveal. I mean those would be cool, but I'm hoping for a hefty info dump. I'm talking title reveal, trailer, gameplay, and whether or not it's gonna be a stand alone, or a new trilogy. I'm really hoping it's a trilogy.

Those are two very different questions. So, yes to the first, no to the second. I'm not particularly interested in getting the second feeling myself.

Whether Bio thinks they need to give you that feeling is an open question.

Oh yes, so  very different....  *rolls eyes*.  I have expectations about video games and boss fights - if they can't deliver the basics then there really is no hope for them, is there?  Maybe some people like that feeling of not winning, with no overarching feeling of "YES, I won!" and a lack of feeling accomplishment.  I can;t imagine why though.

Well, its also up to me if I am going to buy their products anymore.  Anymore crap like ME3 and I am done with it.  As far as I am concerned, ME3 is a rushed cheap game with 8 bit running figures and those horrendous endings makes strike one.  Strike two was treating fans like they didn't "get it", and calling people entitled brats, along with Mac Walters' surly attitude.

I play video games to have fun.  They are my escape from work, traffic, taxes and just life in general.  If they can't make games fun anymore then I won't be purchasing their products.  ME1 and 2 delivered.  ME3 was not even close - especially given its potential.

Don't look too closely at the people in the background on Ilium, then.

Considering this as the final image leading into ME3:

I had plenty of fun, and was kept engaged. Just as much as with the countless daddy issues and that Contra 3 ending, at the very least.

I expect the big info dumps to be more at the other conventions where they get more time to talk about it, like the PAXs.

It was expected given prior experience with ME1 and 2, Dragon Age, KotOR ,Jade, Neverwinter...

Can't really say I agree about ME1 and ME2, since both the council decision and the collector base decision gated the player from completing the game with a hefty choice that had no ideal solution and involved a substantial number of lives.

Sadly, I agree.

Most I predict to happen from this E3 is:

-general info

-title

-teaser trailer

-mayyybe demo footage of some parts of the game

Bigger 'info dumps' would be for later this year.

Um, you do actually see that those are different questions, right? It's hard to tell because the way you phrased this sounds like you don't understand that, but I don't want to get into this if you're just joking around. I'm a fan of snark, -- obviously -- but sometimes it gets in the way of effective communication.

So do I. We apparently differ on what makes a game fun, though.

For me, the impression I'm left with at the end is as important as anything. Because that impression is going to last a lot longer than the actual experience of playing the game.

One kernel of solid info would basically be 100% more than what we've got. A title, trailer and some general info about the story and PC would be massive.

So after (fast)reading all these arguements, doesn't seem like you guys are excited for the next ME :(

I'm waiting for something to be excited about.

I'm curious what it'll be, but my hype is reserved right now for games coming this year like MGSV & Mad Max. To me it'd be a waste to start exciting myself right now for a game that is a year or more away.
