That has nothing to do with PC and everything to do with Dark Souls. Just not a good port.
I know it is Dark Soul's port doesn't change that the keyboard controls are awful.

I like caps lock personally. I prefer to keep my mouse fingers on the buttons. They already have plenty to do, unlike that left pinky.
OP, you'll probably be pretty used to it in a few hours. When I first started playing ME2, I kept staring at the sky every time I unpaused because I kept thinking I needed to reposition my cursor. It only took a few missions to break that habit though. Once your used to it, you'll realize everything is better with keyboard and mouse. Except 3D platformers. Playing them with K&M is an abomination.
You know this is a good idea. I had a spare mouse button on my "fancy" mouse that I was trying to use for medigel but I think this will feel a lot more natural. Reloading cancelling definitely feels awkward and I think this will help. Thanks.

Just watch out when you exit the game. I often end up unintentionally "shouting" at people online after playing. ![]()

My mouse only has two thumb buttons on the side. The one in the forward position I set to voice chat, the one in back I set to Gel/reload cancel. It was awkward at first, but that's true no matter where you put it. Now that I'm making a conscious effort to use it, it's becoming second nature.
My Tsent still occasionally detonates Tech Armor instead of cast Warp though. It'll probably be another day or two.

Since you can't reassign abilities, I still do something like that. For example, after playing an infiltrator all day I'll detonate Tech Armor because it's the same button as TacCloak. Or turn off Hunter Mode because on other chars it's Sabotage/ED. ![]()

What do you mean with "can't reassign"? You can bind every power to the key of your choice. I remap for nearly every kit I play to have the primer on thump button and the detonator on middle (wheel), for example. Passive powers like tech armor or hunter mode get always bind to CTRL. That way I rarely confuse the powers during combat.

You have different key bindings for each kit? Or you change them each time?

why are you switching to PC anyway?
But I have good news for you:
You will get used to it so soon.
I hadn't played any shooter after Nuke Nukem (all of them - Doom, etc. were only with Keyboard)
Just one tip:
I assigned Q and E on my Keyboard for Power 1 and 2.
Works great while using WSAD !!
Power 3 and 4 are assigned on my Gaming mouse.
Reload Cancelling (medi Gel) I put on SHIFT.
Works great, too
after some practicing.
Do you have a Gaming Mouse with more buttons?
When I sniper I change the DPI to 400 or 600
Don't know how you handled that problem on consoles. Probably you just used auto aim.

I change them each time
Eh... that sounds like work. -.-

.... yes.
But I got a list for every Character...
which I use after switching.
Probably I am a little meticulous....

I don't play actual PC games but I do play tons of emulators though. GameCube, Wii, ps2 emulators on PC
Same here, but I emulate just about anything from MSX/NES era up till Wii/PS2/Arcade(MAME). Lots of complete romsets out there too. And I have a ton of USB PC gamepads too that replicate NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Saturn, and 360 gamepads. On top of Arcade Sticks. and Steering Wheels. Still need to find some dual flight sticks. But yeah, my point is my gaming on PC is still done with comfortable gamepads or get out.

I mostly use the standard key bindings and they work for me. If I had a setup for each character and customized my keybindings in general, then it would be a sign that I took this game seriously and was trying hard... which would mean I'd have to quit before I become obsessed with it. ![]()

I got used to it. For some kits I know the power assignment by heart, for others I have a quick look into the power configuration screen to check for the correct order. Just a couple of seconds for me.

Hey, can you guys on PC re-map the power buttons? On console you can't and it really drives me nuts when power mapping changes. ie. Sub-Net on console is right shoulder button for Batarian & a face button for Vorcha. And many other powers switch things around like this all the time, making switching kits with same powers a pain because you always end up pressing the wrong buttons all the time until you re-adjust.
Conclusion; if BioWare wishes to not put any thought & care into it, then give us complete freedom to map our buttons. This would also of solved many other issues too, like the one button does it all BS.

But you can remap to 3, 1, 2 or Q, E, Thumbwheel or whatever.

Meh, PC isn't that big a difference. Play the single player on PC first. It'll help you acclimatize your reflexes.

Plus PC has hilarious glitches like NPCs talking in a t-pose.
Sometimes the glitches make the game experience.

As member of the Master Race, you don't simply "switch" - what a ridiculous idea!

... just don't go back to SP after MP ... the "helpful" time dilation on powers like Adrenaline Rush will totally throw you :|
Quickslots will screw you over too... 7 isn't necessarily medigel. A number of times I last played SP I found myself switching to Cryo Ammo (which ended up being in quickslot 7) without knowing why. I eventually realised I was hitting the mouse thumb-button which I'd bound to '7' for medigel... yeah, I was automatically attempting to reload (animation) cancel without realising it.

Switching from 360 to PS3 is still torture for me. Even with my new PS4 gamepad. Sony just doesn't know how to make a comfortable gamepads.
Your reality is not my reality. In my entirely subjective opinion, the xbox controller is one of the worst designs I've ever encountered, while the PS3 controller, when fully accessorized, is an absolute joy to use by comparison. You can't make a gamepad which will suit everyone, obviously.
Objectively speaking, the xbox circular d-pad design is beyond ridiculous - I genuinely don't know what the designers were thinking.
I haven't used a keyboard and mouse for gaming since the days when I had a full time job. ![]()

I'm sorry, but the Sony PS1, 2, & 3 gamepads are some of the worst I've ever held in all my gaming. The PS4 one at least try to be somewhat ergonomic, but still fails in a big enough way next to the 360 gamepad, the Sega Genesis and Japanese Sega Saturn gamepads of old (these 3 are the best gamepads I've gamed with. And for PC emulation & gaming I actually use USB versions of Sega Genesis, Japanese Sega Saturn along a wired white 360 gamepad as my fave). And while the PS4 gamepad is more ergonomic, it's now way too wide to make room for whatever that stupid thing in the middle is. Make the gamepad feel like I'm holding a bicycle handle.
(starting going to the gym again, and really messed up my forearms and bi's, so playing ME3mp on the PS4 gamepad was getting extra annoying & uncomfortable. So much so that I haven't played any ME3mp for past 2-3 days).
360 analog sticks are superior to the PS3 ones because the PS3 sticks are too long plus super flimsy (barely any pressure against you), thus making precision aiming harder (main reason I stopped PS3 ME3 manifast originally, because aiming was so much harder when I tried to precision snipe & why I bought a PS4 gamepad). But alas the roles are exactly reversed for the PS4 & X-Bone generation. So this generation both gamepads suck. Need to look for a third party gamepad. But alas 3rd party gamepads last anywhere between one month and less then a year. What a wonderful age we live in.
All Sony D-Pads are pure garbage. I actually place a D-Pad overlay over all my Sony gamepads/PSP. Even thought about ripping that overlay with a screwdriver and using some mold to fill in the gaps. Because D-Pads are still very important to me since I still do a ton 2D gaming from 80s to present day.
So yeah, Guntz. Don't know what to tell you other then the answer is clear as day to me personally. And this is coming from someone who hates both Sony & Microsoft. So no bias from me outside of just hating Sony gamepads. I was only loyal to Sega of old (hate the new Sammy Sega since day 1) and second being Nintendo (which are also driving me nuts with their decisions these days). .... I remember seeing the unvaling of the PS1 in gaming mags I collected back in the day, and when I first layed eyes on the Sony PS1 gamepad, I honestly thought it was a joke and that it would obviously fail. l.o.l
But yeah, these gamepads where and still are the bane of my gaming existence. Sorry Guntz. If you like em, that's fine, but I still wish Sony would learn to make proper gamepad instead of being more concerned how they look.
