The Cabal's Nightshade Blades use the same distance scaling, just without the instant impact damage.
You mean the bleed damage. The instant impact damage is what scales with distance.

You can't make a Geth bleed - peroid. ![]()

but I can teach a Geth to spell. ![]()
Actually, geth do bleed. I've seen it happen so many times. Bombers bleed too. EDI bled once, but that seems natural.

So the formula for this is:
DamageDealt = Damage * DistanceProportion * InstantDamagePercentage
The InstantDamagePercentage is always 0.8, and the damage is the damage listed in the abilities tooltip. The formula used for DistanceProportion is:
1.0 - DistanceToTarget / ImpactRadius
In other words: The damage scaling is a percentage based on the maximum distance of the ability and is a linear scale. If you were at the exact maximum distance it would theoretically do 0 damage on impact.
The remaining bleed damage is not affected by distance.
The Cabal's Nightshade Blades use the same distance scaling, just without the instant impact damage.
Nice to know, thanks man. Now... You don't happen to know how much is impact radius, do you?
12m or 18m if you take Rank 5a (Range). ImpactRadius had me stymied for a while until I realized that in Bioware terminology, radius = range in this case.

That does seem to imply that explosive blades is even more powerful that it at first appears.
Is it me or does ballistic blades sound like a title of a Motorhead song?
If you like to stagger, I tell you I'm your BatSol
You bleed some, explode some, it's all the same to me...
...
...and don't forget the joker

I always go explosive blades. Stagger plus a combo off it with ammo primer
I don't think BB's detonate combos ![]()
Animation cancel your Ballistic Blades into a Heavy Melee and you get a Falcon Punch that makes them explode head, fly 20 feet away, and then explode AGAIN.
Brutal AND stylish. I approve.
I don't think BB's detonate combos
BBs do not detonate combos.
Yeah. I've played a lot of Batarian soldier with explosive ballistic blades, and I'm very confident that he cannot self-detonate fire explosions.
The explosion animation and stagger could be mistaken for a fire explosion...I guess...but check the kill feed. No fire explosion, unless someone else detonated for you.
Eh, maybe so. Could've swore I've seen & heard the explosions though (which are different than BB exploding). I'll have to play closer attention next time.
At any rate, I still take explosive blades
Animation looks similar. I thought the same myself but I've never had a FE on a solo after trying to find one detonated by BB.
