One can only hope that they learned from their mistakes (although considering the undeserved GOTY awards and praise for DA:I..)

If ME4 is anything like DA:I  I will be pissed because then they would have ruined two of my favourite franchises with their

new "open world" approach

Yes, I do believe that DAI was a "false" GOTY. It was a good game, but only got GOTY because the pool of quality games in 2014 was VERY limited and DAI just happened to be the one shining above good game out of the pack. If DAI released this year, it would not even be considered GOTY with the line of games coming this year. Hell, with The Witcher 3, DAI would barely be considered RPG GOTY.

Now because of the 2014 GOTY status that DAI got, the dev team will probably let it get to their head and believe that DAI was a masterpiece and that with DA4, nothing much should change.

Besides, worse case scenario if ME4 is a copy and paste of DAI with a sci-fi reskin, at least it would be better than DAI for two reasons.

1) ME4 is developed only for current gen titles so the tech and graphics will be better as opposed to DAI which was held back because of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

2) If the leaks are to be true, then an open-world exploration focused gameplay would fit well with the game because you are a pathfinder exploring new charts, technology, location, and cultures for humanity. So the "fetch quest" could easily play into this idea. While you are doing menial fetch quest, you are also progressing humanity's future in this new galaxy. With DAI it didnt make sense and felt like a chore. We were the Inquisitor, the leader of a powerful organization....why the hell was he out there doing menial fetch quest for farmers and people standing on the side of the trail? These were things that should have been done by agents and other representatives of the Inquisition. With ME4, I doubt we would be the leader of a large organization. We will most likely be some 20-30 something year old military officer tasked with an important mission and the DAI style fetch quest would play into that.

ME3's combat also demolishes Dragon Age's clunky party mechanics and stiff melee.

Not that I'm defending grinding or filler bullshit, but people generally find it more tolerable when the game is more fun to just play.

I enjoy solving mysteries. Remember how we had to figure out who, what, and where Leviathan was?

Speaking of the Leviathan DLC, the dark tones and music were really good.

BioWare, please give use more mysteries to solve and less resources to search for. I do not like being a miner.

I don't know if thats a fair comparison, as one is a shooter, cover based while the other is more melee focused and distance focused.

I do agree with this but... ME1 mako combat was not. I am somewhat concerned that a lot of the exploration and filler time will be spent in this.

On my first play through of DAI I did many of the fetch quests, but on my second play through I did none of them (nor did I pick up any pointless shards), and had much more fun.

If you're not a completest (I'm not) just ignore fetch quests - they made no difference to my DAI game.

of course its all subjective but I (and some others too) think DA:I is a very bad game

deal with it, saying that its objectively not a bad game is just silly

They were lazy while they developed it, huge lifeless areas with thousands of fetch quests is called effort? Yeah right

apart from a few good characters there is nothing redeemable about that game (**** and short story, bad protagonist, fetch quests etc.)

Also ME3 was definitely not a bad game disappointing in some areas sure but compared to DA:I its the best game ever

As I already mentioned, Inquisition itself isn't necessarily a bad game. What bothers me most about the game is the fact that Bioware promised it would bring your gaming experience "back to the roots", increasing the amount of roleplay and character developement while making the combat system more tactical. Regarding the game as it is now, they could easily only name it "Inquisition" and still wouldn't make a big difference because it doesn't have a lot to do with Dragon Age anymore. In my opinion, it's especially this indifference between the actual game and Bioware's promises, which causes the huge shitstorm still going on here in Bioware Social. But if they said before that the game has a boring hack&slay-like combat system, a lot of uninteresting non-cinematical dialogues and 80% of the playtime are "run there, kill/gather that"-quests, no fan would have bought the game. These boring quests would have been a lot more bearable with a better combat system, but DA:I has one of the worst I saw ever in a RPG.

But yes, compared to DA:I, ME 3 quest design is outstanding.

Yep, on my first playthrough I 100%'d the Shards, Astariums, Rifts, etc. on every single map. In the end the shards and astariums led me to loot that I didn't use because I could craft my own - and the Rifts gave me power I also didn't need. I'm currently replaying the game and avoiding the shards and astariums but I still do the rifts for xp. You don't have to be a completionist, it's going to be oooooookaaaaaaaaaay.

So you want people who actually think it's a good game to lie?

How dare you think it's a good game!  For your insolence, I am revoking your fan-card.  Now, go sit on your stool of shame!

No, I just don't care about them. People can say what they want. I can just stand back and wonder.

for a person who has a jack's avatar you shouldn't say that.

What do you mean?

I'm just saying I'm not here to tell people what to like. I definitely don't want them to "lie" about it. I understand DAI is popular, but I don't really see why myself.

Not sure what any of that has to do with Jack.

I'm so confused...

Meet Jack where?

Because I'm a Jack fan, I'm supposed to care about how much people like DAI? I don't understand. :)

Oh please.  More fetch quests, please.  I especially enjoy the ones where somebody asks you to retrive something for them.  Something that is ten feet away.  On a shelf.  In their office...

"Aren't I a spectre?"
