Hey you guys I am rather new to The Dragon Age Series and I just wanted to know if DAI is worth investing the time in? I have basically YouTubed all the games in the series plus this one and I still don't really know if I should play this particular one, I was so hyped about this game early on, watched all the trailers, listened to the soundtrack, streamed interviews etc. etc. I purchased and started the game for PC and XBOX One and basically just ended up leaving my characters in the starter areas since the end of November. I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about the overall game and I am still undecided on rather or not I should go back and play thru it. The romance options are few and kinda crappy for males (no Leliana romance......sigh, really Bioware??) and I don't really have the time for a grind fest style game ugh. The journey and gameplay seem fun but dat grind ugh just cant drive myself to pick it up again, so at the end of the day is it really worth it and why? Thanks for your thoughts.
Is DAI worth playing thru or just YouTube it and call it a day?

Big question, hard answer. It depends on who you ask; I've not seen anyone who doesn't either love the game or hate it with a passion. Find out for yourself if you'd like it, because I don'\t think there's a single neutral voice on the forums of it.

*raises hand!*
It's like a 7.5.

I found it to be a huge letdown.
If you have to ask, the answer is probably no.

If you are invested into the series, it is worth playing through, but not all that good a game.

eaglesfan I bought it twice because I wanted to experience the difference between the console and pc versions, but I don't know ya'll I liked how MASS EFFECT let you utilized the same character throughout the trilogy. Maybe I will be more inclined and motivated enough to go back and finish DAI if the next game/story brings The Inquisition and Inquisitor back. If my inquisitor and his companions can actually return in the next one it would be worth going back and completing but now as a stand alone I am just like "meh" no big deal. But anyway thank you guys for the thoughts and suggestions

If you like open world games then you'll probably like this game.

DA still follows a one universe route. You only play a different protagonist for every game, but what you do in the previous games matter just like Mass Effect. A different protagonist for every game allows the game to expand more both in universe and characters, unlike Mass Effect, which was kind of doomed from the start given the story about RIPPAS!
If you read too much at this point, I would say you're probably inclined to not touch the game at all. You've been disheartened by the reviews and you're feeling doubtful. What I did was not read or watch any review on DA: Inquisition besides watching what I actually wanted to watch from DA:I. I was already hyped for Inquisition before it came out, but I didn't buy it until February 2015. Your Inquisitor's feature really does matter. If you don't like it or you think it's fair, but not what you wanted you're probably never goin' to continue beyond dissatisfaction.

I hated the grinding too. I did like the game a lot but if you can't take the grinding (and there's soooooo much of it) just youtube it and don't feel bad about it. :3
I think the other two are more worth playing though.

Youtube's great for some games you don't want to play, but I think this one is better off with a purchase. Actually all DA's were/are like that.

I agree with Excella. Your view is already colored by other people's choices ('cause you watched other people play) and opinions of the game. I feel like you'll just be agreeing with them the entire time during your gameplay like "oh yeah, it is this. yeah, it is that." and it wouldn't be nearly as fun :\

If you like MMORPOGs, you might actually like this. Lot of the same elements.
If you like some cutscenes and (fairly light) moral decision making, you might like this
If you like combat to be fast, and pretty much automatic, with (very) limited AI options for your party, you might like this.
If you like killing dragons, you'll like this
If you like collecting herbs and minerals yourself while traversing an area, you'll like this
If you like romance options, including gay and inter-species, you might like this (just don't expect deep romance pathways)
If you like a demanding, tough boss battle at the end of the game, you won't like this
If you like complicated, interesting side quests, you'll probably not like this, as there are very few of those
If you don't like fetch quests, you'll definitely hate this game
If you don't like MMORPGs, you're unlikely to like this game.
If you've never played any of the other games in this franchise, I would urge you to try DA Origins. It is a much deeper game, with a more engaging quest line and main protagonist (you can customize yourself a lot more), much better side and main quest, more romance options with better characters, AND there are literally hundreds of mods on Nexus that will improve the base game beyond recognition.

Origins is definitely superior, agreed, but I dunno. I loathe fetch quests and MMOs alike, and I still managed to rather enjoy Inquisition overall.

I hate MMOs and definitely don't love fetch quests, but really like Inquisition, on my second playthrough now, and intending at least one more. I also think that Cassandra is an excellent romance option for guys, but then I love her character. Personally, the romance options (especially Solas, Cass, Cullen and Dorian) are my favourite of all Bioware romances with the exception of Garrus in ME and Viconia in BG2.
My first instinct would be to say play it, you've already bought it after all. Honestly though, it does sound like you're already carrying around a bit of negative bias towards the game. So maybe leave it for a while, until the memories of YouTube and mixed reviews have faded, and play it then.

You don't seem like much of a gamer to me, you're more of a watcher by the "Youtube it" part.
You watched the other games which you had no intention of playing and bought the latest game twice and now you are asking us to decide if you should play or not.
But you already stated that you don't enjoy this type of game so you have already made up your mind.
You may as well "Youtube it" because you know that's what you want and that is the type of person you are.

If you want to keep the grinding to a minimum, I would recommend just doing the story based side quests in each area (Crestwood has a pretty good one), and always pick up the requisitions at your camp. Yes, those are grinding, but some can be completed with little extra effort because you loot the stuff you need to complete them anyway.
In this way, just gather enough power to unlock the main quests on the war table. You will get to the parts of the game you're likely to enjoy while minimizing those parts you (and many others) don't find so very thrilling.
If you still have your characters in the starting areas, go out with each of them and find some critters to kill. Pick the one where you like the combat most (or where it bugs you the least) and go with that one. Generally, ranged characters seem to be less of a hassle to play since you get into less hitbox related trouble.

DOn't waste your time its a super-grindy awful lacklustrer game. DAO & DA2 on the other hand are worth the time.
I suggest selling your copies of DAI/Trade them in, and invest you money in DAO and DA2.

DAI is the worst in the series right now. Personally, if you have no desire to even get your character out of the starter area and have no problem ditching them for months now, then you've most likely made a mistake purchasing this game. You should probably youtube it and call it a day.

I am enjoying my second PT. It's fun the see the differences when you play as a qunari, my previous Femquizzitor was an elf. This time I took a new partner in the mage-templar conflict and I intend to see some other new things as well.

Romance Solas, play the game through.
Totally worth it. Much more interesting than romancing other characters.
It would help if you play through Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2, just saying ...
When you YouTube a game and call it "I've played it" you miss out on SO much of the experience (and I watch Pewdiepie play games)
