Note: the post that tells me what info to provide when reporting a problem says this forum has an awesome search function. I don't see a search button or link anywhere in this forum. I'd search to see if other have this problem, but so far as I can tell, that isn't possible. If this search function is really so awesome, it shouldn't hide itself so stealthily.
Anyway, here are my answers to the basic question:
1. Game: Mass Effect 2. Steam Deluxe Digital Download. Version: 1.00.
2. System Details:
2a. CPU: Intel Core2 6600 @ 2.4 GHz. Physical Memory: 4 GB.
2a. GPU: Display Adapter: GeForce 8800 GTX, VRAM: 768 MB. Driver Version (curiously, the configuration utility displays a null string for this but I know the version number...): 196.21
2a. Sound Adapter: "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)" (it is integrated sound on the motherboard). Driver Version: 6.0.1.5928
2b. Platform. Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (6.1.7600). "DirectX 10.0 (Mar2009) or later"
3. Problem Details
3b. What is the nature of the problem? Game immediately crashes every single time I turn the second corner after going through the doorway that leads into the clinic where the doctor is suppossed to be located.
3c. As I said above, this happens every time. I have tried getting to this location from multiple different save points. It makes no difference.
3d. As I said above, when it happens is very specific. It always occurs right when I am turning that second corner. No sooner. No later. I've yet to even see what lies beyond that corner. Have never had this problem anywhere else. Not yet anyway.
3e. The steps to reproduce are simple: load any saved game, fight your way to the clinic and attempt to turn that second corner after going through the door that leads to the clinic (this is the place where the word "clinic" is printed on the wall in red). the game always hangs and then crashes when attempting to turn that second corner.
