Whenever I see Anita spout off on Twitter with her feminist truisms, I'm reminded of the film 1984, and big brother. If she had any conviction at all, she'd debate her stance instead of just announcing it. Of course she'd have to check with her BF first since he writes all her material..
You'd think if the masses of either side actually cared about the causes they supposedly care about they'd agree to work together or at least part ways amicably.

No. But people who can't defend their points in a proper debate or discussion probably shouldn't be talking about these issues in the first place, or at the very least shouldn't be considered remotely credible.
Anyone can go online and spout their opinion. It says a lot more when you can actually hold discussions with people who have opposing views and different perspectives on the matter.

I'm pretty sure that Anita writes a good chunk of Feminist Frequency and I understand why people want her to defend her views. However I don't think Anita will ever have a debate even though she wanted a conversation about sexism in video gaming. It really is irratating that Anita goes out and say she's being "silenced" when in reality people are begging her to defend her views.
But hey, people said that Mayweather-Paquaio was never going to be and look what happened.

Not to interrupt the echo chamber that everyone had built up here so beautifully, but the idea that there's any meaningful social commentary coming out of any side of this is laughable.
There's no meaningful intellectual discourse. On one side, we have a a group of people advancing some simple ideas connecting with gender equality that are mostly truisms without the academic background to really put together a critique. And on the other hand you've got a bunch of largely ignorant gamers whose grasp of even those basic criticism are beyond them, and their address of any social issue is almost an embarrassment to the idea.
Then we have the trolls, of course, and the fact that gamersgate has managed to become populated with such a virulent pack of openly mysoginistic trolls that the entire label is DOA. And I'm not talking about the meaningless rhetoric: I mean the deluge of death and rape threats.

All I know is that watching everyone play hot potato with the toxic new gamer audience has been hilarious. "You guys take the tumblr rageoholics!" "Oh yeah, well you guys get to have the MLG pro crowd"
Meanwhile, what little credibility or relevencne games journalism, or many online news media in general, continues to go right down the drain. They were a joke and punchline before ((Anyobody remember slowpoke kotaku?)), and now that a call for them to get their **** together led to them proclaiming every gamer as dead and anyone who uses the term gamer a sexist pig, they've become a no-doubt laughing stock of everyone.
Forums, imo, killed review sites. Why would I read an article by someone who doesn't even finish the game and can't go 5 sentences without bringing up "muh social issues" and then bans everyone from commenting when I can get an in depth analysis of story, gameplay, and game mechanics, by an entire group of people, and see the counter points raised and discourse unfold, in real time, for free?

I wish someone could tell her that "conversation" is a back and forth discussion between two people or more. Not one person saying whatever they want and refusing to respond to another voice.

She said far worse. She claimed men couldn't help but kill those two strippers and drag around their bodies, toy with em and pose their corpses. She implied that male gamers are drooling cavemen on the verge of killing and or committing rape at the mere sight of an attractive woman.She said you're encouraged to kill woman and parade them around in sexual ways or something alone those lines when the game in fact discouraged it and actively penalized you for it. She pretty much took one slice of the game and completely misrepresented it to act like that was the main focus of the game. I know there's a lot more to it but it's been a while. There's videos of people dissecting her video that go over every piece of misinformation she stated though and it makes you question whether she actually ever played the game to begin with.
Am I the only gamer left who doesn't care about Gamergate?
Although I did enjoy that Law and Order episode based on it because of all the memes it generated.
