Nobody is considering Skynet using flesh-covered bombs. Cover a high yield nuclear explosive in skin grown from the machines' vats, send it back in time to 80's LA, and blow up Sarah Connor. Better yet, make it a biological weapon, send a machine engineered virus specifically designed to target Caucasian people (seeing as how Sarah and John are white) into the past and let nature take it's course.

Yeah, the fact that skin can travel through time but not "complex machinery" is another example of the Terminator time travel fallacies.

How quickly people forget. Skynet & it's Terminators we're actually trying to save humanity from the atrocity below... by killing us.

OH gods....  I watched that in the cinema and there was like 4 people... and that was the 2nd week of its run.

Too many things happened and so many unanswered questions.

even Kyle Reese admits that he didn't know all of its function. Keep in mind that Kyle is a soldier and NOT a Scientist or a knowledgeable about Time Travel.

I always figured Skynet was just a young kid at heart, obsessed with action movies so much it became bored with it's actual programing & decided life should be one big action movie. "In a world where machines rule the nuclear apocolypse, one man is..." & that is what Skynet is actually doing, muttering the plot of "John Conner" to itself in an unending loop. Bombing the planet was just a way to create a set, inventing time travel was just a way to get the plot moving, & the terminator really is just the ultimate action figure.

Aside from how well that could fit all the action from the original two films. I kind of got a sense of it being that way from Sarah Conner Chronicles.
