All of these polls showing up gave me my own idea for a poll.

Since different characters respond slightly differently to certain races and classes, I'm curious if anyone did any specific race/class combinations for certain characters because they deemed it more fitting, more interesting or simply liked more.

Would love to hear your reasoning as well.

Cullen / Human / Mage - My personal canon Inquisitor. I just personally feel Cullen fits better in a tale with a human Inquisitor and It's not like he hasn't fallen for a mage before, so it doesn't go against his nature to fall for another. I see it as a cruel (or lovely) twist of fate.

 

Blackwall / Elf / Rogue - I really don't have any reasoning here except that I didn't want this elf to be with Solas (wanted a mage to romance him) or Iron Bull (I shall not ride the Bull) and my main Inquisitor is with Cullen. Plus she prefers guys which ruled out Sera and Josie. Blackwall was the only one left. Poor fellow.

Josy/Human Male/ Two handed warrior - My canon Inquisitor the typical story of a faithful Andrastian human who led the Inquisition into a powerful organization that absorbed the Templar.

 

Solas/Female Elf/Mage -  Generally I don't play female character but was surprised this time. The elf romance with Solas was really worthwhile. I felt like the game was intended to be played in this way.

Cullen / Human / Warrior 2h for my first party. But for my headcannon Cullen / Human / Mage.

rogue/solas as my current canon (although i may change that to mage with a new canon playthrough in the distant future)

 

rogue human/dorian comes a very, very close second

Cullen/human/mage is my canon. I just find it to be very.. dramatic. I mean, both of them have to learn to trust something they used to be aware of, and in the end they're both completely head over heels for each other.

I have a play-through for each race/voice actor, and I've had them all choose different LIs.

Lavellan + Solas
Trevelyan + Dorian
Female Cadash + Josie

Adaar + Cassandra

 

I've done Lavellan with Cullen too, but then I went back and redid it for Solas. He's not my favorite romance-able character (that would be Dorian), but Solas's romance story felt most rewarding within the larger plot of the game, so that is my personal canon.

Cullen/Human/Mage, because I liked the idea of a Human Mage romancing our favourite Templar! And who played DA:O with a female Mage can understand me!

 

Sera/Qunari/Warrior: I chose the Qunari because Sera saying "woof" when you flirt with her is just funny, and the warrior because I felt my Qunari was a warrior.

 

Cassandra/Human/Rogue: I still have to play this one, but Human for "reasons" and Rogue because I already played the other two classes.

Cullen/Human/2H Warrior - My personal canon. My reason: simply because the 2h warrior is my favourite class, and Cullen because I think he has the best romance storyline. He needs a powerful Inqui. in his life anyway!

I played a female human warrior (sword and shield) and romanced Blackwall up until a learned the truth about him.... I then broke it off and went with Cullen. 

 

I'm also kind of casually playing as a male human warrior (two-hander) and romancing Cassandra.

 

Thinking about playing as a rogue male elf (bow) and romancing Josie at some point

Cullen/Human Mage - Personally, it fits the story more between the two. I like the drama and emotion in this romance, because it shows they have deep feelings for each other.

 

Cassandra/Human Rogue - I've grown to love this pairing, because I feel like they're opposites. Cassandra trying to keep it together, but failing due to her pining for an ideal romance. And here's the Inquisitor, who's either a carefree dashing archer or dual wield, sweeping her off her feet with his wit and charm.

My canon pairing is Cullen/elf mage. Feels most natural, has more depth and I prefer elf females over any other race.

 

My second pairing is Blackwall/elf mage. Again, female elf ftw.

 

My third pairing is Dorian/human rogue archer. Reason for choosing human is that I cannot stand the way male elf looks and I don't care playing with a qunari or dwarf.

Since people are explaining their reasonings, I prefer Trevelyan/Dorian because Dorian's had an awful lot of heart ache regarding sex and romance and I love the idea of him finding his Prince Charming rather than a smuggler, mercenary, or nomad.

It's about race/class combinations with romances which might have reasons in the romancable characters's personalities, I didn't include none because that would make the whole point of the poll moot in the first place.

-Cullen because...I guess of all the options, he most resembles my type?

 

-Human because City Elf was not an origin option.

 

-Rogue because DW rogue was my favorite in DAO.

Cullen/Rogue!Lavellan - canon run. I love playing rogues, elves, and I love Cullen. 

 

Cullen/Mage!Trevelyn - haven't started this run yet, but I like the idea of it, especially because my Warden for this one is Female Amell.

 

Solas/Mage!Trevelyn - about halfway through this one, they're so cute! I chose mage because I thought it would feel better connected than warrior/rogue (plus my elven rogue already romanced Cullen)

 

Dorian/Warrior!Trevelyn - haven't started yet, but I like the idea of giving Dorian a knight in shining armor.

Sera/Human!rogue(archer) is my favorite, though mage has some things going for it, especially since there's dialogue about the specialization, albeit true for warriors as well.

Well, to be fair, the title asks which combination you like to play and why. That doesn't actually exclude "None" as a possibility. Your OP also doesn't mention romances at all until the links, so I could take it as asking for reasoning as to why you like a certain combination because different characters react differently, not only romances.
