I'm looking to make a female Elf mage (Probably be either a Necromancer or Rift mage) so I can romance Solas but I also want him in my party, is it viable to have two mages in one party?
Also no Solas romance spoilers please
cheers

It's certainly viable!
I just did a mage run (on Nightmare) and had Solas in the party the entire time. My Trevelyan ended up speccing into KE as my second choice - I could NOT farm the required mats for Rift mage and eventually gave up on it - but I played her as ranged DPS rather than the conventional 'melee' build, with Solas as support and CC... 'twas much good fun, and at end game, I even ran some three mage + rogue parties.

Awesome! I don't think i'll be quite playing on nightmare, but thanks for the heads up!
My PC is a 2h champion, and I find that two mages in my party works out great. I usually do 2 mages and a s&s warrior. I haven't even missed a rogue.
Totally viable. I run with two mages until I get to level 13 or so- then I bring in a 2nd rogue so I can kill stuff faster. Two mages for 'In Your Heart Shall Burn' paid off big time. One with fire and one with Ice and Electricity.
I think it is great to have 2 mages in my party. If I am a mage, I tend to be a damager mage while I spec the other mages to be more supportive. It is always a good idea to have a mage who can support your party with barriers, revival, and dispell.
Two-mage setup has been my bread and butter throughout both DA:O and DA:I.
I have 2 mages in my current run right now. My Knight-Enchanter Inquisitor is the damage dealer, my second mage is a Support / Combo Mage that sets up combos and supports the party to keep everyone alive. The best part is the Support / Combo Mage role can be filled by any mage party member because the build ignores the specializations.
Yeah, totally viable. I've got a few playthroughs with two mages. I like to play as an offensive mage so I tend to run with either Dorian or Solas specced as support, depending on what I'm doing romance wise. To be honest, both their specialistions seem to work well with the spirit school and if you set their behaviours to favour barrier, you don't really need to bother with barriers yourself. Though I usually take Peaceful Aura and Guardian Spirit for the reduced threat and that last minute barrier at low health can be a life saver
I had the most success in Nightmare running 2 mage 1 warrior 1 rogue party, so yes it is viable. If you can coordinate well the barriers, and you know how to use shield wall, you should consume next to non potions in battle. I would recommend Fire Mine and Static Cage to go along Pull of the Abyss, it will win many fights straight away. Another thing: 2 dispels or 1 dispel and 1 Spell Purge will make rifts very easy.
I'm currently playing on nightmare as a knight enchanter using Dorian, Sera and Cassandra. I like this setup. All three do well especially Dorain
I'd use three mages if I didn't need to have both a Rogue and the Warrior around all the time to open stuff. I used 3 in DAO, and it worked brilliantly.
Mages are great together. When I run 4 man teams I often run with 2 mages. For certain key fights I often run with 3 mages. It works very well especially if you spec each mage carefully yourself.
I usually run two mages when my inquisitor is a mage. currently trying 1 tank, 1 melee DPS (2 Handed warrior/DW rogue), One Range DPS, and one Mage.
I always have a duplicate of my inquisitor class in my group (except when I'm the tank, where I have a 2handed warrior with me only pre-skyhold). The mage is the most useful as I can give them some useful utility spells I won't use on my mage (Ice Mine and full Barrier tree mostly). Solas is also super useful thanks to pull of the abyss.
My main PC is a mage, and I have a great time running with Solas and Dorian on Hard difficulty. Haven't tried Nightmare. Turning enemies to exploding goo with combos is a wonderful thing.
Having two mages was almost vital to my success on some quests. One raw damage/glass cannon type and one healer/defensive types. It worked out for me.
