i was wondering if i can cacel preparing for update and play game then restart update later without messing up saves? or do i have to just wait becouse its been 1/2 an hour and its still at 0%.i ask becouse this game does have a habit of completly loseing saves.thank you for answers in advance

I think Origin won't let you play the game unless you update, but I could be wrong. If it forces you to update but you want to play with the previous patch or want to have a backup in case something goes wrong with your saves in the new one then make a backup of the previous patch and replace it once the new one finishes downloading so Origin will stop asking you to update.

You can play without updating just put Origin in offline mode. You can set it back to online once the game has been started in case you need to load a world state.
I wouldn't have thought it would mess up saves if you cancel as it's just preparing and isn't actually installing yet.
