Solas wasn't really an Old God, though, was he? Technically speaking. ;D

Sorry.

But basically, yep. If you buy the Sera thing, that is, which I'm not sure I do as doing a double reveal seems a bit... over the top? Eh. Plus then there's a whole new can of worms to open about how Andruil would have gotten into Sera in the first place. I do think there could definitely be a connection, just not so sure if it's soul based.

No, they made that perfectly clear at the end that he was indeed the dread wolf

One of the plausible reasons, yes. Though it doesn't explain why sometimes Solas sounds or behaves as if he's either going to die or some part of him (at least) is going to perish.

Maybe he's planning to sacrifice himself, or his awakening was only to right his wrongs and then he will perish? He does seem to believe his time is limited. His comment about my Inquisitor's spirit was interesting. Wondering if it changed or changes. Like he was asking if his spirit might change if something happens to him. He truly is obsessed with spirits. He could even pull a Bruce Willis and already be dead. Lol

I'm not buying that he's using reference to betrayal per se, considering that he responded to Inquisitor's "I trust my friends!" with "I know that mistake so well I can carve the angles of her face from memory". That sounds very person-like.

Well, what's tragic is that it's probably that fear that chased him away from one goddamn chance to have someone by his side :P

It could also be horribly tragic in a sense that (if some things would happen in the future) he knows the taste of betrayal himself, yet he'd be forced to betray people left and right, including a person he really cares about (well, he pretty much DID at the end of the game :P)

Ah, that's what it was! Mistake, that he was referring to the mistake. With his manner of speaking, I can see it going either way, but when I first heard that in DA:I it certainly gave me pause. XD

Yeah, that too. Really, Solas is just a big bundle of wool and tragedy. Weekes, how could you. D:

I think he might intend to sacrifice himself, though it won't kill him necessarily.

Mainly because of - I'm sorry, Cole, but with your gift, I fear you might see the path I must now walk in solitude forever. The fate is mine alone. Indeed, I would not wish it on an enemy, much less someone that I once cared for. Though you reach out in compassion, I must now insist that you forget. - that. Forever implies no death for an immortal, I would think. Ugh, Solas. xD

What Solas is saying might be metaphorical, ie no one can join him on the journey he is on. It would explain the distance he tries to keep between himself and a romanced elf Inquisitor.

Ya know... first time Cole said that, I was a bit dazed from the whole beating the game and thought he was talking to the real Cole. Lol then I played it again and realized it was Solas! If Cole starts digging around, he might find out more unless Solas made him forget him completely, and what a way to do it, giving to Cole what he does to others.

Considering he's spent a millenium in their company seeing spirits everywhere is probably a habit that's hard to break :D

I especially like the look Inquisitor gives him when he leads her to the cove in last romance scene and goes "The Veil is thin here - can you feel it on your face, tingling?" and she's tilting her head and is all like "There he goes again..."

And yes, he has a Grand Sacrifice pretty much painted all over his face... I wonder however what does he mean when he says to Cole that he's on a path he has to walk in solitude forever. Mixed signals everywhere... Maybe he means that he's going to give himself in servitude to some other powerful being? (if Morrigan or Inquisitor are bound to Mythal *for eternity* after drinking from the Well, maybe he's going to bind himself to something else?)

It would be interesting if that was the case. Plus, the irony would be delicious - a freedom fighter forced to sacrifice his own freedom for the sake of... well, whatever he's trying to accomplish.

Thing is that we know that immortality can be lost - not saying that it would happen to Solas, but we know it happened to ancient elves for some reason. I wonder if it can be gained or re-gained though?

The whole "Whatsoever passes through the fire, Is not lost , but made eternal; As air can never be broken nor crushed, The tempered soul is everlasting!" tidbit from Drakon's vision makes it sound like it can be the case. We do know that godhood can be gained, if we're to believe Ghilan'nain was raised to be one.

I remember my first time I played and I saw Wisdom, it looked just like my Inquisitor and I started laughing, and next to a female Lavellan, Cole is really close to him, so he eliminated both from giving reason to follow... or so he thinks. Lol

Well it can't be referring to a death that will result in him in the Fade. I think he says this to Cole no matter which path you chose for him. I always make him human, but I think it's the same message either way. I would guess maybe he plans to enter the Void after he does whatever deed he's set out to do.

Yeah, I have a feeling that even if there won't be any specific "wolf hunt" the likelihood of them crossing paths is fairly high... but whether it means changing either Solas' decision or fate is up to debate. He pretty surely will be featured in DA4... question is whether our Inqusitor will be, or will their fate be decided in final (well, hopefully there will be one, among few other goodies) DLC?

Also yes, he has the same message for Cole no matter if he's more human or spirit or whatever the Inquisitor actually is (or what's his or her relationship with Solas).

As for entering the Void... Possible? I mean, it's implied that Dread Wolf has done that before, since both Creators and Forgotten Ones treated him as one of their own. What this means though is anyone's guess.

They know we want answers, so Solas will come back for sure. Lol

Yeah I meant that his making him forget and breaking up with her makes sense because those were his closest relationships. As a human IQ, I was a good friend to him, but he never pushed me away like he did Lavellan as a LI. Just vanished, so for that PT Cole was his only truly close friend. Either way, unless you get rid of Cole, Solas always targets him and breaks his ties. I feel like I'm talking about Sasuke in Naruto. Lol

It's all up in the air, but fun to guess! I think he simply plans to punish himself for his mistakes, or he knows he's on borrowed time.

...What I'm afraid of is that we'll get a few paltry answers for a truckload of new questions >_>'''

Solas even alludes that when he says "The answers will only lead to more questions" which for me is like 'aaaaargh, don't we have too many unanswered questions already >.<!?'

Oh that's for sure. Now I just wonder whether a decent Inquisitor who managed to impress him (befriended or romanced) will have any effect on his future decisions? I think it's be more complicated than that with the variables we have and the depth of story... but it's kinda hilarious to think that the whole Inquisition could be just one big "taming of the wolf" kind of thing xD

I have a feeling we honestly don't want to know the real truth... yet. Lol

I wonder too since the last words he says to you reflects on his relationship. My Human Female Mage was told she was respected, my Female Lavellan was told what they had was real, and I saw a PT on YouTube where the player and Solas hated each other and he says nothing to them about his feelings.

A lot of his scenes reflect his end attitude towards Inquisitor, especially post-Well scene. He almost seems smug about consequences that await Inquisitor after drinking from Well of Sorrows and has different dialogue in the part in which he confesses that the Inquisitor has impressed him.

We're yet to see how positive or negative relationship with him will effect our game... I'm kind of hoping that going an extra mile (that is, being friendly with everyone and being a decent leader) will reward us with better ending (or at least bittersweet ones). Just like being good and encouraging towards Leliana can inspire her, or working hard in gaining Court Approval lets us unlock better endings for "Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts".

He's critical towards everyone. It's hardly a surprise. Show me one group he DIDN'T have harsh words about?

The Dalish?

No.

City elves?

Nope.

Dwarves?
Not so much.

People?
Ohoho - no.

Ancient Elves and Arlathan?
He says to Dorian that Arlathan was no better than ancient Tevinter.

Elven Gods?
He calls them arrogant and fickle.

So the fact that he compares Inquisitor to someone from ancient past that he holds in great regard means that he pretty much holds them above all those groups - not just our Inqusitor's particular group of origin.

Sera said it best. "He has his head crammed up about a thousand years"

It probably does have some sort of affect because the Keep has you specify who you befriended.

Maybe it means that we'd be able to save them from some sort of horrible fate? :P

Also - it would be fun if people we didn't befriend if made enemies of stood on our path or betrayed us later xD Oh, but I have such hard time playing an a-hole...

I am reminded of this lovely image set that I see pop here and again in the Solas thread:

Feels appropriate. ;D

Back on topic, though! Sera, Elvhen God in hiding or not? Or does she just possess some strange elf sight? Was it the red box that made her bonkers?

Well, if it goes anywhere as well as trying to introduce reason and sense to people believing in some wild theories, then I see how this can get frustrating, FAST ;P

Back on topic, though! Sera, Elvhen God in hiding or not? Or does she just possess some strange elf sight? Was it the red box that made her bonkers?

Anyway, I've already made quite a long post about that (http://forum.bioware...old/?p=19091507) so I'm not sure what else to add...

Other than: every other hidden or hiding god has either had a stronger presence or clues leading us to conclusion that they're The Real Deal - one of the most prominent clues being their 'totem animal', so to speak. Flemeth can turn into a dragon and is all 'dragony'.

And DAI is peppered throughout with wolves or references to them - so much sometimes that it feels as if Bioware is throwing bricks at us with "THIS IS IMPORTANT! PAY ATTENTION" message written in red ink :P Wolf statues, wolf quests, wolf packs, wolf pendants - all that jazz.

So you'd think that IF Sera had anything to do with Andruil, at one point or another she'd be seen surrounded by her symbols - mainly the hare (or the hawk). Yet it's simply not the case. There are not even generic hare statues anywhere (there's also no mention of anything from astrariums/constellations) - while at the same time we have ample statues of not just dragons and wolves, but also of owls (though there's a passing mention that Dalish think the owl carries message from Andruil, it is an animal generally associated with Falon'Din) and deers/halla (symbol of Ghilan'nain).

(and if you bring the bow... Sera is great with bow, but nobody ever makes any comment about her being the ultimate, unbeatable pro at it. The rogue Inquisitor wielding the bow seems to be at least as good, no matter of the race and Leliana seems not far behind. So, nothing is really made out of it, other than she has natural talent for it - which is also probably something many elves are good at, as it seems to be their traditional weapon of choice)

In fact, I'd pay attention more to those. I have a feeling that either Falon'Din or Ghilan'nain will be important, as they get comparatively the same or even more exposition (in terms of found codexes and aforementioned statues) than Andruil.

(side note: I always wondered why there were giant deer statues featured so prominently at the start of vallaslin scene. I have a feeling BW wanted to say something through it, but I have no idea what >.>')

My memory is a bit faulty, but did he ever give his view on the Forgotten Ones? Most of his negative thoughts of the elven gods seemed to be more aimed towards the Creators, but I don't really remember him ever discussing the Forgotten Ones at all. Which is something I always thought was a bit weird, since Fen'Harel was considered a member of both groups.
