They have some business sense, and don't need to protect market share by litigation because they make something people want to buy.I really didn't expect a something like this coming from GM and Ford. Usually it would be a German manufacturer like Mercedes or BMW who would say something so stupidly arrogant. Meanwhile, Toyota and Subaru are selling stripped down, cheap versions of the 86 and BRZ targeted at people who modify them in Japan and New Zealand.
Do you want to work on your own car? Well you can't they said no!

Short of locking everything with an onboard computer which blows the car up when you fix it outside of a listed garage You're going to fail.
Making parts which are copyrighted to a particular car is frankly illegal in the EU. Ford tried it in the 1990s and got slapped down for it. ( we're not talking about engine parts, but nuts bolts etc.)
Second there will always be some grease monkey who's willing to do the job for cash.
The competition undercuts them and they end up fighting over an oversaturated market.

As I've said before,try enforcing it mother-fuckers!

Well, if it gets the support of the entire auto industry I could see enforcement coming in the form of voiding warranties.
Such as the dealership not fixing issues with your car if you had "tampered" with it. Of course, that's highly unlikely as it would drive out other car mechanic buisness, but it wouldn't be out of the question just yet.

I don't see how this means that we should get rid of corporations.
They're bad m'kay.

That would run straight into the problem of competition legislation in the EU, as what you're describing is an oligopoly.

Sparing that an S13 Silvia would be pretty good as well.

Or an E36 M3

And seeing neither Toyota, Nissan or BMW have come out in favour of this legislation I should be set.

sad, usually at the vehicles I see around here with a decent level of customization are just average everyday vehicle. Tends to be either nice car with no custom or plain car with custom. Still disappointing either way,

Oops my car got hacked!!!
And I find this has actually happened due to onboard wifi. Cars today can be hacked who would have thought?
I remember seeing the report 60 Minutes did on it.
And it's only going to get worse, especially if self driving cars become a major thing.

As long as it's not a Honda, stanced or riced beyond recognition with cheap ebay parts it's fine by me.sad, usually at the vehicles I see around here with a decent level of customization are just average everyday vehicle. Still wouldn't buy. I like my hands on the wheel, and human error for any problems that I have.

Nah, that's just offset. I get questions about the wheels/rear suspension all the time, or used to anyways. It's been changed since, but I miss that 1980s trailer park vibe that it used to give off. It was part of the charm.
"Why is it like that?"

honestly, I really don't find any of the new models for vehicles they have today very appealing. Sure, there more eco-friendly and fuel efficient, but not what I'm really looking for.

So I take it you've done a bit of work on the engine and haven't left it at '70s no power spec.Nah, that's just offset. It's a '75 car, with a '74 455 engine. Back in high school, I was dickin' around under the hood, misunderstood some torque specs, and ruined the engine. It was due for a rebuild anyway.
Me and some friends pulled it, and tore it apart. Then I went to a professional and said "Put this together, 'cause I know I'll find some way to f*** it up."
Got it back a few months later, bored .030 over with all new internals and a mild cam. It still has the factory, low-as-sh*t compression heads, but I've got another set that should bump it closer to a proper 10:1. It's just a matter of time and money at this point. It's been sitting in my garage for almost four years...
Factory hp/torque for 1974 is listed at 250/310. I'd say it's likely around there, maybe just a little more after the rebuild
