One thing to keep in mind, a lot of people keep saying just spam barrier but that defeats the purpose of other songs such as heal on hit. Start with barriers, use haste and spam power chord. If people get low get barriers back up again and give them heal on hit to get topped up. If you just barrier spam you miss out on a ton of damage.

I'm liking him quite alot if the team sticks together so you can do mad buffs.

Ah, so that's why my teammate was still dying despite me having the upgrade and him killing entire groups of mobs with his Avarr
Is any of Zither's other powers or passives bugged?
Not that I know of. Sing-Along upgrade is the only one that's completely broken, anyway. Generally I try to keep the Heal on Hit sing-along going at the same time as Battle of the Bands, since it really helps to speed the healing process.

Same here.
My current build for Zither uses the following strategy:
Approaching enemies, or moving from fight to fight:
Movement Speed (Elec, Elec, Elec)
Just as the battle is about to commence:
Healing per hit (Cold, Elec, Elec)
followed immediately by:
Attack speed (Elec, Elec, Fire)
and then switching to:
Power Chord (Elec, Fire, Fire) to help deal with any stragglers.
I do try and work Barrier (Cold, Cold, Cold) into my rotation, but I guess I have my build wrong or something, because I have to spam the move 4-5 times to make sure everyone is at full barrier, and by the time I get back into my other songs the barrier has run out again.
Some PUGs have said that I should just focus on Barrie generation, but I would rather play as a varied support/attack hybrid than just a shield bot.

If you get the passives for barrier you can make more out of less, top up barrier before a fight starts then use it periodically throughout between other songs.

Well I have (trying to remember my build) the passives along the main path to the songs, and I know I grabbed Long Solo, but I am not sure what abilities I grabbed off to the side.
Do I need all the barrier buffs to make my shields work? Would that take away from a hybrid build?

I suck with skill names, there is regen mana on auto attack, run cancel your attacks and you get mana back super fast. The one to use a song when teammates are near and barrier goes up, the skill to have it take more damage and decay slower. That way you don't need to only spam barrier. Getting those you can still get things like heal on hit and damage moves as well.

Thanks.
I think I did get the mana on auto attack, but I think I skipped out on the others, I'll have to double check when I can look at my ability list again.

The pugs are right--to an extent. Barrier should be your 1st priority. However, if you spec properly and equip the right items, your barrier generation should go through the roof and you ought to have plenty of downtime to cast your buffs. I wrote a tutorial on the bard that you're free to check out, if you want. I've been focusing on this kit since the beta stage, so I've had plenty of time to refine my methods.

I agree with everything everyone heave said here, and we can add more and still its not enough. I played with him yesterday after work and i dint stop even after sleeping hour arrived (Sorry to Piffle and Rhaegos, i had to quick alt+tab. It was midnight!)
For Near Unlimited Mana Output+ Zither needs:
1-Play to the Crowd
2-Feel the Crowd
3-Opening Set
4-Combat Clarity
Keep your party members close to you, and the enemy as well, in fact you can tank you party with Barriers even in the middle of 4/5 on FC.
Just Remember to have:
1-Strength of Spirits
2-Knight-Protector
The only complain i have, is that his Lute doesn't change it's design when you use different armor.

I just tried out Zither for the first time today,.. WOW... I don't know when, but it's inevitable that he's gonna get hit with a nerf bat.
I gonna farm as many perilous dragons, via Zither, as I can before he gets knocked out of God tier.
At level 6, threatening, I just ran around and kept barriers going, while auto attacking,... I topped the exp charts with over 7500 exp. I gain 5! levels in one match in threatening.
I jump into one more threatening and join a party that is in progress, pick up a couple more levels and I'm at 13.
I jump over to perilous,... I'm invincible the whole match, and everyone around me is as well.
My group wasn't even that good, but we get the win. It takes a while to complete the match, but we were never in any real danger of failing.
Top the exp once again with over 17,000. I jump from 13 to 17.
Please just give us about two weeks before you smack Zither with the nerf stick.

Zither sure is amazing at crashing my game. Whenever I host ferelden castle and someone in the party is playing as him I crash at zone 4. His existence has forced me to host only private games and it sucks. QQ
Off-host I have no problems with him.

Interesting thing about zither, is he's actually not as godly as, say, an arcane warrior. If allies and multiple enemies are around, he's nearly invulnerable. But stray too far out of range of either, or start faceplanting into hoards of arrows, and you'll find that you can die quickly. He's also not super great with dragons unless ur allies stick close or you have lyrium potions you can stretch out.
Long story short, I don't see a reason for bioware to nerf him. And if they do, they'd better further nerf the AW too, since he can still outlast zither--and completely by himself.

SIAP, but I got back from the movies a little while ago. Turns out Zither is so amazing, he is in Fury Road.

Playing "Hot Licks" there.
