Well that's just freaking stupid lol. Seriously, why in the hell would they put it as DLC separate from the patch?! Oh, Bioware....you continue to find ways to stun me.
because it's a whole new set of files rather than a software update.

I have an issue. I installed all the DLC, they are there. But no Black Emporium on my war table at all. I tried repairing the game and re installing the game. I tried to get in contact with support but none can do. I'm on PC version. Tried to Zone, tried different save file with different character. But none of them have access to it. It just does not show up. I have 2 set of folder with save with use of mod and some with not. But its the same for both. Mod or not, I cannot access it. Ia m seriously annoyed at it. Any ideas to help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: omg I had to re logging again. Now it works.. Thanks a lot. I will share your "fix" on the EA forum.
You just made my night XD
I downloaded, installed, signed in, it's still not there.
Re-installed, same. Listed as installed in Origin when looking at DLC, but on the war table there is nothing there for Kirkwall except Varric's hard in hightown missions. And yes, I signed in in-game as well as the Origin client. Oh well (shrugs).

Try logging into the Keep as well as into Origin, that seemed to work for me.
Sorry to go off topic, but I've encountered a strange problem, that I don't think is emporium related. I'm on Xbox 1, downloaded emporium when got home from work last night (I'm in u.k.), gave it a quick look, then went to bed. Now this morning when I load the game up, no matter which character I load I've got a box in the middle of my screen with online connection in it and there is no response of any kind to my controller other than to go to my home screen and quit game that way, but the music and NPCs are still doing their thing, its not frozen, just won't respond to controls.
After a patch or other update, it is always a good idea to go into Settings->Power & Startup and do a Restart Now. That clears the cache, and performs a full reboot of the system. If you have any weird issues, always try this before assuming something is broken.
I did not have to log into DA servers to find the Emporium. (I have never logged into the servers in this game, in fact.) I think that is only a PC issue, though I haven't read any feedback on it from players on other consoles.
The Black Emporium is available only to Xbox Live Gold members with no timescale for it to be free to all on Xbox One. This was told to me by Xbox Live live chat.

Just to help clarify for some people, patch 7 added 2 new thrones that you get when you go to the Undercroft, but the BE is a separate DLC download you install from Origin and then log in to your account before playing the game. If you are starting a new game, once you recruit Mother Giselle, you can unlock the BE at the War Table, then travel to it anytime from your World Map.

OK, so it appears that PC users need to log into Origin, while Xbox players get authorization directly from XBL if they have Gold (without also needing to log into the DA servers). It makes better sense now. But why is this so-called "free" DLC behind any kind of a paywall?
I still can't believe people have to pay money to use online features on a console. That's just ridiculous. PCs can be hooked up to your big screen and setup just like a console. Come to PC land when your tired of being ripped off all the time.
Thats golden considering the main PC gaming service requires you to spend money in its online store to access basic features such as friends invites.I still can't believe people have to pay money to use online features on a console. I'm having this issue on PC. Logged into Origin, manually downloaded and installed Black Emporium via the $0.00 purchase, not just the automatic patch update. Logged out, restarted, logged back in. Did the tradiational repair install bit. Nothing on the war table.
The other thing I noticed is the mosaic tile piece in the "Archedemon" that was supposed to be repaired by the latest patch also is still missing. So that's interesting.
been trying to get it on my PC since it came out, it wont install or even finish "purchasing " the free game because there isn't any actual purchases in my cart. reallllly pissing me off. the only way it seems to install is if i complete purchase then it will auto downnload. but since it doesn't need any card info, it wont complete the damned purchase!! reaally frustrated with this and angry with origins. this isn't the first time i have had this isssue. last time i finally got what i wanted to get when i also bought a game i had to pay for.
Funny enough, on the PS3 you don't need the premium membership (PS Plus) to get this and other stuff like it. Not sure if its the same for pS4, but I imagine it is.
Its free on 360, the issue seems to be only on X1. Someone affected should contact EA support.Funny enough, on the PS3 you don't need the premium membership (PS Plus) to get this and other stuff like it. Not sure if its the same for pS4, but I imagine it is.
Just to be clear, you logged in from within the game, correct (Origin doesn't matter; the game needs to connect to the DA servers for your new DLC to show up)?
As for the mosaic, that fix isn't retroactive, unfortunately. It will only help if you haven't already picked up the bugged piece.
Well I had thought so, but I took that for granted. I forgot I had disabled the automatic log-on in game because reasons. I realized my error about 2 minutes after that initial post. What a rookie mistake.. So by breaking with deeply held beliefs and allowing it to connect, Black Emporium now works. But unfortunately, for reasons you mentioned, my Archdemon mosaic still looks like a Mississippi smile. Alas.

Really, what is this "main PC gaming service" that you speak of? Considering I am a PC gamer, gosh you think I should be a part of this "main PC gaming service" ?
You should be able to access it while still at Haven. Don't know why you can't.
From what I've heard, it's still available in Haven, in fact it was one minor complaint about it that the description on the war table mission is the same no matter what, so it is spoilers because it's written assuming you know who the Elder One is. (and though this is the spoiler section of the forum, if you must say who the Elder One is, still use spoiler tags out of respect.)
