I still need to play her a lot more to give a solid opinion, but for now I would say that she is far from trash.

Oh, we changed an unreleased character from a beta program to when she actually went live? Weird.

Bolt was nerfed. The spam "glitch" from beta was "fixed".
Duelist is now a trash-tier character.
I have promoted he Duelist 3 times so far. It is not much, I wish I had more time to test her out more, but from everything I've seen I guess I can start to draw my early judgement on this character.
Her damage is certainly above trash-tier. For me, Broadsides hits for 6-8k AOE damage. Bolt hits for 1.8-2k single-target damage while being cooldown-free and almost as spammable as an auto-attack. Those are only the ranged abilities, on a DW Rogue.
Her survivability is beyond any other Rogue while her XP output is above average in this class (my Fereldan Castle Perilous runs have given my team about 45-50k XP using 2 belas + 2 mages and up to 60k having 1 bela + 3 mages). All in all I can't see Isabela being touched in the DW Rogue department, where some of the real trash-tier characters are.
I've watched videos of the Bolt+Spin exploit and honestly I don't think I would be playing her that way if I had the opportunity, since there is way too much potential and fun to be had using other approaches. I see the fixing of this exploit just like I would see the fixing of the Ele's infinite Fade Cloak, in other words, something hat can enrich a character, not necessarily hadicap it.

I dare you to explain how his statement was a straw man argument. I have a lot of promotions, but even still, the duelist absolutely owns other dual wield classes, and is on par for the highest dps most likely. If she isn't nerfed, I'd be shocked...and I would definitely enjoy it, but I ain't never got 66 kill streaks before the duelist arrived.

To be fair, you wouldn't have been able to get that killstreak without ferelden castle either.

True. If she isn't nerfed, no one will be happier than me....but I feel guilty doing all of that damage and barely being hit. I solo'd a dragon with her fairly easily, which I have no problem with if no one else does.

Does ambush work as a gap closer? Cause I'm already fed up of flank attack and it's ganky targeting. Again.
Absolutely! It's range is far better than Flank Attack... or any dagger rogue skill aside from Hidden Blades. The upgrade also generates stamina, which is super helpful.
However, it's targeting is even worse than Flank Attack. It seems to often times launch in the direction the Duelist is facing, not in the direction of the camera nor at a locked target.
And, of course, it's a bit weird with it's flow in the build. It's a "dagger" skill (meaning it generates Elusive) that is also a Precision Detonator, lending it to be used after a "crossbow" skill (that marks for Vendetta) or a Combo Primer. However, it's damage bonus and taunt suggest it be used first instead.
While on one hand that makes it "versatile", it also makes it a "Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None" skill. I honestly prefer Flank Attack due to the far superior Elusive generation.

Yet a few subjective issues remain. Ambush and Blinding Shot still seem to not quite fit in the overall style of the character, and the targeting for Ambush and Broadsides are inconsistent at best.
Nice strawman.

Neither do I, yet I still seem to find her quite viable. The fact that you are complaining that a glitch got fixed is comical... almost too comical. Which makes me think you are being sarcastic. I honestly can't tell.
The Strawman bit was also hilariously wrong... which again makes me think you are just being funny.

With that said, I managed to tank a routine Dragon with the duelist at level 7 and did not take any health damage. I didn't have any special equipment, other than a lower level purple dagger. Only 10 cunning as well. Isabela has great survivability.

I just got it from someone else, and I think it will be the standard build. Can't look up skill names, but the two starting skills, bow and twisty blades, cannon, and ambush.

Mortiel! Welcome back. Heh, I was messing around with builds, and came to the same conclusion as you. I love ambush, but I can only seem to make it work regularly at quite close range by quickly firing a bolt from behind/the side, and then immediately using ambush before the enemy redirects their aggro.

Thanks! I needed to take a step back from here for a while, but I'm back now.
Yeah, Ambush and Blinding Shot are arguably very ill-conceived. Not unusable, mind you, just ill-conceived. Blinding Shot to me is a bit worse than Ambush because it not only gives no way to identify "blinded" targets, but it also misses a brilliant opportunity for a "crossbow" skill that applies AoE Vendetta using Blinding Shot's upgrade without being too powerful (Blinding Shot deals no AoE damage).
When you only can pick four skills, they really just feel a bit to situational or unreliable. Broadsides also borders on that fence with it's unreliable targeting, but that can be suffered due to the decent damage and multi-target Vendetta.

I really hope you are just trolling us with this thread. The DAMP team did an amazing job with the new classes and I think the Duelist can do good damage, very fun/unique to play with and extremely viable in perilous.
I also don't have 225 willpower promotions.

WTH kind of weapons and accessories do you all have?!!???

I find her survivability very nice for a DW rogue and I enjoy her class a lot. I like it even more than the assassin and alchemist (and I love my Hidden Blades and Elemental Mines...a lot).
I mean she is a duelist; can't be a duelist and suck at it. You wouldn't live to tell the tale of your escapades.

True that... I think that makes her fundamentally different from other rogues, who rely on stealth/flanking/distance/threat reduction to stay alive. Her enemies see her coming but there's nothing they can do about it. Attacking from the back is always preferable, but Isabela can make a frontal attack and walk (or rather, hook an anchor in an enemy on the other side of the battlefield and zip) away without a scratch.

I got lucky and got her card on the dragon chest. I really like the alchemist but Isabella can bring more to the table with the ranged attacks.. the crossbolt is almost spammable once you get the stamina boost on crits.
mine is only level 8 and I've only plated routine with her to get a feel. I'll try threatening tonight.
Did anyone else notice her crossbow gets your main hand elemental damage applied? my MH has a fire run and I noticed the bolts are on fire when she shoots them.
If she got stealth she'd be ridiculously OP'd. lots of fun
