When I started DA:I today, I got the notification that "Origin needs to perform an upgrade before you can play the game". I then goes and downloads the patch and takes at least half an hour (still going) to install it. The system may be different here, but I do not find it easy looking for information on these patches/updates.
- What's being updated?
- Why?
- Any difference between a patch and an update?
- Do players get any say in what is going on? As bugs seem to stay in the game, I felt the developers just don't care that much about fixing them.
When Blizzard issue a patch, you get at least a month's warning - several months and a test realm to try it out and let the devs know what happens if it's not just a bugfix patch - plus every change is listed when you download and install the patch. Why does this not happen with DA:I? If Origin can lock me out of the game until it's "updated", then surely it can direct me to a page that gives all of this information? I had a look at the Patch Notes page of the blog, but how do you know which patch it is if you're not told when trying to open the game? And in the blogs itself, there's only a sticky on patch 6... which was released in March. Like, I love this game, it was the Warcraft buster for me, but seriously, more information needs to be given to players. Don't just take my money and nick off to the shadows, or wave Origin at me (still hate the fact that I have to have an Origin account when I bought a physical copy of the game, and only play it by myself on my own computer).
Edit: Great... and now I can't finish the damn upgrade because the download has failed. Due to too many people accessing the system, no doubt. This sucks major league.
