Finally managed the dragon on threathening and I got a rune.. A rune..
One of my friends got a low level common bow (not even a dragon one) and my other friend got a dragon bow (lvl 16).
All that effort - using 25 materials to forge the hammer - and all I got out of it was a potential 2-3 material scrap rune? Yeah, no - I'm done. This DLC looked promising and had the potential to fix the broken loot system, but it looks like BioWare missed the ballpark here yet again. After many years of being a BioWare fanboy, I am officially tossing the title into the well.
Don't make me do a run that is incredibly hard, and reward me by giving me less then I had to give up to even be able to do it..

Dragon items should be a guranteed drop for all dragon fights. There needs to be added some consistency to this random whimsical game..

Imo this game is all about loot and enjoyable co-op , if all the best gear was got too easily the incentive to repeat the same maps countless times would become boring..bet most player's would agree. .Dragon items should be a guranteed drop for all dragon fights. Do agree there should also be an option to grind toward a fixed reward eg "end game item for 100000 "gold

Or just have a guranteed loot progression, however slow (such as was the case with Mass Effect 3 MP). All common weapons should have started on level 5, rares at level 10 and uniques at level 20. Whenever you got a duplicate it would level that weapon by 1. Then eventually, by just playing you would be guranteed to have a level 23 common eventually, making you worthwhile to bring. This way you would avoid someone playing 200 hours and not getting a single item over level 20 (which is the case of a friend of mine) while others have full unique gear all at level 20+.
As for the dragon loot - problem here is that it costs me more to actually do the dragon then I get in reward (and it takes a lot longer time to beat as well). Done it a few times on threathening now and all I have to show for it is minus 100 materials and +250~ gold or whatever. 100 materials is worth more then 250~ gold.
We find the dragon battle fun, but we don't play it because we technically loose "progression" doing it. Now that is what I call very very poor design work.

100% agree , as you've pointed out loot progression is vital to a good rpgs longetivity.. some good suggestions here..Or just have a guranteed loot progression, however slow (such as was the case with Mass Effect 3 MP). You do not lose progression, as materials cannot be used for making completely new weapons.
You gain a chance of getting an end game weapon for your mats.

I have a few of each, except for the 1-handed weapon which I have none. I haven't killed that many dragons yet, I would say probably 50-ish at most since the dlc release - it has been a busy weak. However the purple cards have been dropping like crazy, much easier than I ever wanted it to be. There isn't much sense of reward unlocking end game weapons this way. Here are some of my Bows and one of my Mauls...
Also, most people who play with me regularly has had similar drop-rates. I am surprised some players here are experiencing bad drop-rates.

Got Purple Dragon Shield out of approx 17 Peri matches, and I rarely use warrior classes.. Has anyone picked up a purple dragon weapon out of a store chest ..?
I can do Peri but success rate is about 50/50 in pugs (if you're lucky), with people who think they can run it with a lvl 1 Avvar its an insta wipe and with a Virtuoso it can last anywhere up to an hour..
Starting to think I might have more luck with RNG chests!

And this is why you will never understand and that is the main issue with RNG. You are lucky - beyond lucky! I am beyond unlucky. If the drop rate is 1 for each 25 games - and you get 1 per 2 games, that means I have to get all the none drops to balance out for you. And you are going around being super happy because you get this and shrug your shoulders at us who get nothing and saying you don't see the problem. Have you any idea of frustrating that is?
Do this - scrap everything you have except level 20 rare weapons. Then go perilous dragon and scrap everything you get the 50 first times. Then you can keep 1 item. And then tell me how fun it is.
I am mind boggled that BioWare has not addressed the loot issue - this is by far the weakest design in their game and they have not remarked on it the slightest. I sincerely hope they don't make any more money of this multiplayer, because they deserve none of it. I guess Mass Effect 3 multiplayer was a fluke success after all.

So the drop rate is about 1\10 it seems. I think pretty much every player would prefer a token system ie. You get 1 token per kill and 10 tokens to buy an item.
Hopefully rngesus gives us all some love until they correct it,

Or 100 tokens and you get 10 tokens per perilous, 5 tokens per threathening and 1 token per routine.
That way everyone has a chance of climbing the uphill progression system.

It is actually pretty unfair to assume that someone who has played DAMP as much as I have, never experienced bad luck. It took me 2 million gold to get the item I wanted to have the most, the Walking Bomb Ring. That is right, 2 million gold for a mere blue card. I even promoted the Necromancer 61 times before getting this ring. Also, I promoted my mages over 200 times using a blue staff, the Fury of the Veil, since the Store never gave me the Pyre of the Forgotten, a staff that many pugs have. Now thanks to the Staff of the Dragon, it is now obsolete. There are still countless items I would like to have, but the Store hasn't given me.
I understand you very well, and my only advice is to keep playing, preferably with strong perilous teams. Eventually you will get the items you want, at least from Dragons.

I've finished I think around a dozen perilous dragon runs and uh maybe about the same on threatening:
-unique Staff of the Dragon on perilous (second perilous completion -- hells yeah!)
-unique Staff of the Dragon on perilous (slightly better than my previous SotD)
-rare Shield of the Dragon on threatening
Does threatening drop rares and perilous drop uniques?
Also, has anyone noticed a difference in loot among frost, inferno and storm dragons? If they all have the same chances for dragon items, then frost seems like the best run, unless you're just uber good/powerful or have a necromancer in the party.

Liking this idea.. Threatening is pretty doable for most pugs so maybe the token reward should be closer to a third of what Perilous rewards.. eg 5/2/1 would make 100 token rewards reachable but not too reachable so everyone is running around with high end gear.. it's a no brainer that making revenue is vital towards future DLCOr 100 tokens and you get 10 tokens per perilous, 5 tokens per threathening and 1 token per routine.
That way everyone has a chance of climbing the uphill progression system.
so why not improve the quality of loot in chests if purchased with platinum? There are people who enjoy this game but have less time to grind but have disposable income so purchase platinum but then open a bunch of chests and find nothing high end or useful... where's the incentive to purchase more?..

Yeah Im still looking fo rthe dragon daggers so i can fully try out duelist. I main most of the mage classes anyway so it works great for me. I was using fury of the veil prior to this drop.

have asked this question before about perilous dragon drops and nothing concrete has been said in regards to if any have better odds of unique loot, opinions vary on difference in difficulty for Perilous dragons as well with some saying the lightning dragon is just as easy as the frost although from my experience the frost is the easiest..
