I yet to understand why people build the PUGgernaut as a straight-up melee kit. It's not fast, it's not efficient, the Juggy is slow and maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see why it seems like a good idea to melee everything, when you have Siege Pulse and weapons.
Why do people think that the Juggy is a good melee character?

One BSNer did a Jugg Melee ONLY Platinum Solo. Sure, it's not reliable, but it doesn't mean it should never be used. Also, if it means the Pugs are keeping themselves alive, I have no problem with it. As long as they're draining the souls of Phantoms and are my meat shield, I'm okay with the idea. It sets up great shots to the head too.

That's how I used to play him on Silver, and if I was to play Jug on that difficulty again, I'd go for full melee build once more. On Gold I played him with Spitfire, AR amps and all, and it's not great. Better than melee build on Gold, but not great. The goal of this character is to hold the line and revive fallen teammates, not deal damage. For that, melee build makes at least as much sense as weapons build.
Siege Pulse as offensive ability? I don't know. Detonating 6+1 explosions with ammo priming? That's not a whole lot of damage, and you need a very light weapon for it to work. What light gun works well on Juggernaut? I can't think of any (except maybe Harrier on some maps where you can hug an ammo box).

I imagine the holy grail of immortality has something to do with it, even though I think one would be better served by upping the damage output through weapons/siege pulse.

I do not disagree with this, and to each its own playstyle of course, but I would like to point out that one does not need to spec fully into melee in order to pick phantoms up and set (unvoluntary, kill-stealing) headshot opportunities ![]()

Siege pulse as an offensive weapon is great. In the video I use Adas with Incendiary ammo, but I've switched to Lancer since it deals more damage. Both are ideal since Adas doesn't need to hit an ammo box until the end of the wave, and Lancer refills. 6+1 fire explosions aren't the strongest, but that doesn't make them useless. Fast priming by shooting, and 4 detonators at your call means lots of fire bombs in rapid succession. Also great CC from range. If they get close you can melee, but I just melee to get some shields quick and them drop them at my feet and shoot them. Having hex shield active gives you some CC and damage boost. 3 in turret is enough for quick healing, mainly for teammates. Only need 5 in fitness. Light melee for AOE stagger when you're swarmed. He's a good offensive kit if people learn to play him that way, but the movement really irritates me so I don't play him much anymore. I wish he had a feature where he could pull power from his shields to walk faster, not run, but a faster walk.

Right, ADAS. I keep forgetting about that weapon because it only works against Geth, and I mostly play U/U. That'd work.
Agreed on 5 in Fitness. I strongly prefer 6 in turret and 3 in shield, though. That turret is literally a life saver.

Adas also makes Cerberus a joke. I basically use it as a long range Acolyte to strip shields and set up fire explosions. Also the reason I switched to the Lancer, just better overall DPS. I'm a little more aggresive, which is why I switch it up from you and go 6 into shield and only 3 into turret. The amount of shields restored to you from a fully upgraded turret compared to a half leveled one is negligible to me, considering the amount of shields you have. It's great for teammates and restoring your shield gate. I tend to use the shield as portable RHA to stay alive. Plus I love that 10% damage boost from the shield.
Here's my exact build. He's totally viable with a lot of builds, including yours. I just find this more challenging and rewarding.

It's not about the amount, it's about range and frequency, IMO. But I get your idea.

What?! When? I never seen one nor have I ever done one myself but thought of it. Because a straight melee Jug would mean straight melee in fitness or at least 2 points for melee in fitness. So the real question is, who has ever done this?
EDIT - but to answer OP, the answer is simple. No manifest, so why not. So don't be shocked that this pug logic makes some sense. ... That and pugs don't know the true power of Siege Pulse because it sucks offline.

Geth Spitfire is a good weapon on him, it's more that most people have no idea how to use it.
Place reticle on enemy and keep shooting until they die? Or am I doing it wrong? ![]()

You're gonna have to explain that one to me. Juggies in general don't slow the game down I can live with, but melee only Juggies? Hell yeah they do.

Adas is great against any enemy since it staggers with each hit. Ask your clingy Phantoms how much they like that. ![]()

That's the joke.
I play this Juggernaut and do quite well with it. Against Pugs I top the scoreboard with a comfortable lead. Melee is for stagger/CC and shield restore, not for doing damage. I've got guns for that.
