Why do people think that the Juggy is a good melee character?

I prefer the Destroyer for being a weapons platform.  The Juggernaut is just a sitting duck when trying to focus on shooting, which I don't like.  like "yay i'm one shotting mooks" *All enemies on the stage focus on me due to towering over all cover* On gold and platinum that can get you killed pretty easy.  Seems more practical to focus on tanking and draining, diverting attention from squadmates.  SP is better as a last resort than primary offense, imo.

I run the Juggy with an Adrenalin Mod III (some people think it's a waste, but it does make a difference imo) as a pure weapons platform especially when I'm off-host. Put a good shottie on him, like the Pirahna/Raider/Claymore etcetera, and you can really put out some damage.  He can be a lot of fun that way.

Siege Pulse suffers off-host, as well as from lag, but it's still good to get some detonations going with Team mate Powers or certain Ammo types.

I do like to see the ol' Melee Juggy if I'm playing another kit though,  that way I can kill everything the Melee Juggy is tanking.

Having a melee Puggernaut around is a good thing only if you play the Krolord on platinum, will make it a bit safer for you then.

But he's not a damn melee character, the juggernauts heavy melee is a utility function only, to bad most Puggernauts just don't get it, he really is a good weapons kit.

I like to use the Juggy as a walking weapon as well. I'm not really that good with him tho...i use my shield and turret ALOT for suvivability because he attracts so much attention. I will usually throw the typhoon on him and let him go to work. I will only use Heavy melee for shield/health regen or to take care of annoying phantoms, but everything else i'am trying to obliterate on sight.

I think folks just misunderstand his Heavy melee....it's great, but it's effect is a bit lacking in terms of overall effect. I guess what i'm saying is that these pugs rely too heavily on it since it's not really a power you should be using to try to kill EVERYTHING all game long. Especially bosses.(not saying that it's not great for bosses)..it's syphons off very little health at a time...it's a great power, but not to be used in the manner that some pugs are using it.
