I never said it did (so yes, your L2 issue continues), but this thread probably will.

No single Juggernaut can tank all the bosses on the map at the same time. Which means your team still has to watch out and stay close to the big Geth, which limits their mobility and (kill) speed.

Any reasonably sturdy kit can tank Banshees or Atlas, as long as they stand on a ramp. I'm doing it fairly often with my other soldiers who can also kill those things very, very quickly.

I actually -have- tanked all the bosses on the map as a Juggernaut before. If you can show some restraint with the Siege Pulsing once things get hairy (It's sooooo hard to not mash that button every single second as if your other buttons are broken, I know!) and spec 5a and 6A (10% DR per stored pulse, 4 pulses) and combine this with 4b/6b on hardened Platform, it becomes nigh-invincible. Yes, it can still get damaged faster than it drains when it has that many enemies focused on it, but that's what the rest of the team is for.

Using my build, the Juggernaut has 8000 shields, 40% DR, and drains 925 per second. This means they need to deal closer to 2000 every single second to see my shields drop even slightly. Then there's the Geth Turret to help out a bit, and I can always step back and drop a hex shield to negate ranged attacks until they step through it again - and it's specced for Shock and Pulse.

Don't get me wrong. I don't play primarily as a melee juggernaut; I merely have it for once things get hairy. The important part is I spec it so I have the OPTION to tank if needed. An option I wish all of those 15 revives medal on wave 1 pulse spammers would learn to consider! -15% damage is a small price to pay for near immortality compared to how much a lot of other players drop.

Your dr calculations for effective damage aren't taking the out of cover penalty into consideration, just fyi.

Very true. I forgot the math on that. Thank you.

I don't play melee Juggernaut (although I do use equipment that increases his melee damage)

I've only gotten 10 Melee kills with him a few times and most of those were solos or short handed gold matches

^^  The old favorite take your ball and go home if you don't want to play in my yard argument.  :D

So people make pedantic complaints about the character choice of others because it might interfere with their precious score, I tell them to eat a dick, and I'M the whiner?

okay

Nah I'm not mad, just noticed these responses of yours were unusually salty, even for you. I don't think Arc grenades are easy mode or even close to melee jugg mindlessness, but then again I don't have a favorite kit or weapon or species in the game, so there's that.

My responses are unusually salty? Do you even read my posts? I haven't even threatened or even openly insulted anyone yet (though you're getting close). Callous derision of those who are inferior to oneself =/= salty.

You're the one who specifically responded to my post with something that was OT to the discussion in question, ergo, if anyone can be labeled as such, it is you.

I'm starting to feel for the mods. If I was forced to have to read these threads every day I'd want to make them go away too.

Ok, I'm not fighting with you, I'm not insulting you, and I have no idea why you're getting close to insulting me. Normally I read your posts as a certain tongue in cheek "Quarians are better than everybody else" tone. Kind of superior, but not abrasive. Your posts in this thread about the Jugg seemed unusually salty compared to that tone (but you are referencing a geth so there's that). I did put :D  and   in previous posts to insinuate a light hearted tone, so not sure where this is coming from.  I make a point not to get into actual arguments (not debates) on the internet, so if that's where this is going count me out.

I like being able to solo multiple platinum Praetorians and Banshees by just constantly draining.  I can literally tank entire platinum waves, letting my teammates focus on annihilating the entire clump focused on me.

Its just good teamwork, really.

The fact that you don't find me abrasive is insulting. I guess I will have to stop being so considerate.

As for not arguing further, good, because you'd get rekt. At least you're intelligent enough to realize that.

Know what would be better teamwork? Killing more than one enemy every 3 minutes so the game doesn't take three quarters of an hour. You have a goddamn siege pulse and gun, use them.

Bad melee puggernauts are a cancer on platinum and their prevalance is the primary reason why I don't pug that difficulty very often. The playstyle is merely a slightly more polite form of leeching than bleeding out every wave or putting a rubber band on your controller.

If I knew how to do that sure, but it'll be a while.  Switching to PC so I have to re-unlock everything. I have the Juggernaut but not the gear for it.

Also fun little trick for those who don't know.  Doing a light melee after heavy resets the heavy melee so you can do it again immediately.

On xbox used to have team hide around a corner or down a hallway, and I just stand there tanking the waves (Draining and tossing out sentry turrets to restore shields).  So long as team is gunning away at them it works like a charm.  If not then yeah I'm usually screwed because I can't see what I'm targeting with so many huge things on screen lol.

Best I can do right now is screenshots.

Sure is.

Ah so everyones still hating on me for preferring the revenant over the n7 minigun, eh?

I'm either hit or miss with this guy. I can tank one big boss like a banshee, Praetorian, etc.... but tanking two or three is a struggle without teammates lighting them up....even with the geth turret and me shooting/pulsing bosses....Scions grenades, Praetorian melee and lasers make short work of me with this kit. I won't try to tank more than one boss unless i'm forced to.

I will usually try to kite them around while firing at them backtracking using my shield and turret and HM when necessary....

I'd also like to see you tank multiple Preatorians/Banshees at the same time, would be very interesting. I have soloed platinum with full extraction as the Juggernaut and I certainly didn't manage to accomplish that.......

I pulled it off a couple times.  there may have been a volus boosting my shields, but I know it wasn't every time.  The real danger comes from Praetorians, as they are the only thing that can staggerlock a Juggernaut.  Hence the trick of "heavy melee, light melee, heavy melee, light melee" to spam energy drain while staggering everything.

Really, praetorians are the only real threat.  Everything else attacks too slow.  Unless you get multiple Phantoms jumping in there as well, but the teammates are supposed to be targeting those first.

I'm honestly surprised people are having a hard time believing this.  It was routine when I played before.

Banshee swipe will destroy ~25% of your shields, she can hit every 2sec or so and there are usually at least 2. Plus Brutes. Plus Ravagers. And that's just Gold. On Plat with Praetorians, Atlas and so on is even worse. Even with the help of the Geth Turret specced for shield recharge that's not a sustainable situation because you simply do not have enough shields to weather that damage spike when 3 of them attack at the same time. Even if you restore 2k+ shields every second, it's not going to keep you alive because at some point your heavy melee ends and you'll need at least another second to start again. Hex shield won't do crap for melee attacks btw.

Let's not forget the ordinary mooks. A Nemesis becomes more dangerous to a Juggernaut because it can't evade, it can't throw itself into hard cover and it relies a lot more on its shields. Which go quickly if there is more than one, sniping in while you dance with Phantoms. Geth Bombers are a favourite too. If you just stand around using heavy melee, then the bombers will have a field day with you. Cerberus turrets aren't something you can just shrug off either. And so on and on.

Standing around like a big bullet sponge is not productive anyway. I prefer to keep moving, even if I'm just walking in circles around a Banshee... keeping just out of melee range and using my shotgun. Dead enemies don't need to be tanked.

Another point is that you are too slow to tank effectively. You'd need to arrive at a spawn first and you will never manage that intentionally. So you stay back and "grab" the bosses as they walk towards you... but if one of them takes another route, then you can't aggro it.

Not to mention that killing something with melee takes forever. Your team will be busy with the mooks and anything you didn't aggro before they get around to kill the stuff around you. And usually they go for the one you're draining, so that's going to suck. :P

If you have to rely on your team for this tactic to work properly, then you can forget using it in pugs. If you have a good team, then you'd contribute more if you switched to another kit.

Even with a Cyclonic IV the Juggernaut goes down quite fast on Platinum when there are to many enemies on you, damage taken will soon be higher than shields restored.

Tanking 2 banshees at the same time is no problem, but as soon as more enemies join in it's game over. Just heavy meeleing things in a group game works if you play with competent people, I have pugged a lot with the Juggernaut and there is nothing more frustrating than tanking banshees 24/7 due to incompetent team mates. But bottom line, no you can't really save the day in platinum by heavy melee tanking 2 banshees and 2 Preatorians at the same time, especially Preatorians and Primes do to much damage in melee range.

Not sure what to tell ya.  Not gonna say I was never downed, but it was a reliable way to farm Plat when i played a couple years ago.  The only real risk was turrets, ravagers, and long range primes.  Most other enemies get staggered by the light melee in between heavy melees for a breather with helps.  Then a volus on top of the CMs?  Even better.
