LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL@ Box of Shame being tactical or teamwork. It's scrubbery used by terrible players at its finest, which usually becomes apparent on the first objective wave.
Nobody uses this any more.

I get banned for 4 days and this is what I come back to.
If your expectations were higher for some reason, that sounds like a "you" problem.
It's fun for those of us who get bored just doing the old run and gun routine, and would rather use tactics to create a chokepoint like back before stages were patched.
Lol, he called using the box of shame "tactics". ![]()
Using the box of shame is the opposite of tactics.

You a cod player are you? "holding a position and bottlenecking the enemy" is, indeed, a tactic. a textbook one, in fact.
CoD pug lobbies are full of retards laying prone in dark corners or bushes with motion sensors/ heartbeat monitors instead of trying to do the objectives, so I don't know what you're getting at with this analogy unless you are being self referential. Maybe if you actually played a shooter instead of just deriding them as "run n gun lol" you might actually be able to make a cognizant metaphor.
Exploiting the flawed design of a single map and how it interacts with bad enemy AI isn't "strategy". You stand in the box, spam one button for 45 minutes and hope that you get easy objectives that either a lone good player or your bad team can accomplish before running out of gels. It is an unintended playstyle as evidenced by the fact that two maps were changed just to make such exploits less viable (White and Glaicer).
Being mobile requires far more tactical/ strategic acumen, because it is up to you to control the enemies and kill them quickly enough to prevent yourself from being overwhelmed, not bad map design doing it for you while you hold a button down. Further, it is objectively much more efficient/ faster because you can actually seek out the enemies yourself, and in the opinions of virtually everyone that isn't a bad player trying to leech credits in a difficulty they don't belong in, it is more fun. Finally, it is the intended playstyle as evidenced by the fact that it works on more than one or two maps.
I haven't actually done the box since I started playing again, like I said, I just know everyone knows that strategy, so I was using it as a reference.
But I have done similar things (Bottlenecking enemies through a vantage point, freeing my team to focus fire on the mobs i'm tanking).
There's no "leeching" or "bad players" here. Its just a strategy for those who hate constantly running around. That's all. Running around may be more fun FOR YOU, but not for everyone. I get bored out of my mind and eventually just find a spot and stay, letting the enemies come to me, then relocating if they flank me. I'd rather draw them out than hunt them down.
You a cod player are you? "holding a position and bottlenecking the enemy" is, indeed, a tactic. a textbook one, in fact.
You're confusing "bottlenecking the enemy" with "hiding in a closet". In a real-life situation, or hell even a CoD situation, one grenade would take out your entire team.
How's that for a tactic?

There's actually a game made with that exact mechanic. Pong.

No, I sort of hate CoD as a matter of fact. I prefer actual tactics, and using the box is shame is just abusing an unintended game mechanic to make the game stupidly easy and boring; it isn't a tactic, nor does it involve tactics, to use the box of shame is to give the proverbial finger to any actual strategy or tactics.
I don't know about you all but I think silvair is very subtly trolling everyone, it's very funny and well done.
Oh, if you weren't around for their last exploits, you have no idea yet... ![]()

Yeah thats why the Juggernaut is drawing all the attention away from them, so no grenades get thrown in there. How's that for a tactic?
And it doesn't always have to be the other three players bundled up like that, they can be spread out. The idea is just to have the JUGGERNAUT bottleneck the enemies to focus on him, bringing all the enemies to one bunch for the teammates to mow down. That's a melee juggernaut's role is. To Tank.

Have you ever played Borderlands 2, up to Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode up on into the OP8 levels? Don't assume anything yet, just answer first.
Nope, although I can't imagine how you think that makes using the box of shame any less boring or completely un-strategic.

I have. What's your point?
BL2 OP levels are a DPS race bar none. There's no hiding tactics there. It's kill as fast as you can.
EDIT: Have some OP8 one shot Bunker

As I said, I enjoy funneling the hordes towards me more than running around chasing them down one by one.

You know how you don't already have UVH/OP gear when you first start playing those modes? You have to struggle through the first few areas to start getting gear to handle yourself at those levels?
same thing with the box of shame. Its a way for newbies to farm for credits till they can actually survive running around on platinum. Like I said I'm starting over on PC so I'll probably do that with people for a bit until i get my gear caught up again.

If that's your goal then you're still better off finishing a game ASAP. Quicker you can get those credits, the quicker you can get your gear. Standing in a box leeching off others that run around doing their job is not how to go about that.

Or a possessed abomination that "someone" happened to kite into the box
I'm a little disappointed that Silvair didn't respond to my post.

Just playing it safe. I'd rather survive and get the entire amount of credits than try to gung ho it and die lol.
I'm the type who always makes it to the door first and closes it in Left 4 dead. i'll open it for you but I'm going to set alarms off along the way and throw a distraction grenade to bunch all the enemies away from me, then keep the door closed, only opening it when I think its safe to let you in.
Or you stick to Bronze for a while.....
If I want to take FOREVER, sure. But I just got the Juggernaut so I can speed up my progress more. And I will.

lol, that's just you being a jerk.
...I can't resist blowing those up either. SO PRETTY. KaBOOM.

Are you even listening to yourself? You're gushing over a slow "tactic" that takes forever to do and now you complain that Bronze/Silver takes too long?
Juggernaut doesn't speed up anything, ever. Just the opposite, really.
Of course, what would be the point of being an elite if you can't point you fingers as such things as the box of shame. Meanwhile pugs praise in it's glory like they mosquito drawn to a mosquito zapper. "Fellow pugs! Come here! I see the light! Trust me!"

This has nothing to do with elites or pugs. This is about logic. Box of shame draws out missions to ~45min with a fairly high risk of wiping during object waves because the players never learned how to do those. Properly playing a Gold mission instead will take half the time, so in 45min you'll get more of everything: credits, exp, challenges... and you get better at the game.
