That's a pretty good joke you just told there. Unless you were being serious; if so, I challenge you to go to the "PC Concerns" thread, pick any random page, and read that entire page. That's the kind of thing that makes you never want to speak to any customer ever again.

Well, if I had published a video that starts out with "Why is Dragon Age: Inquisition so awesome on PC?" and then delivered a lackluster console port, I'd probably avoid speaking to said customers again, too.

Shame on you for using a single thread to justify labeling an entire community. You're gonna have to learn to deal with, accept, and get along with those who don't agree.

Read that OP again please. I very clearly go over that.

Lack of communication is the issue here.

The OP says:
"...because of a lack of communication between Bioware and their players, people expected things..."

And that's arrant nonsense. "Because" establishes a causal relationship.

But by that reasoning, it's then reasonable to believe anything for which you lack disproof.

Ok. Bye.

I think BioWare views us the same as Hayao Miyazaki views Otakus.

They don't have to do anything.

As has been addressed many, many times already: No one is demanding that they do anything.

What is being said is that a lot of confusion, disappointment, and general anxiety about issues that have been verbally talked about in the official Feedback and Suggestions forum would be put to rest if Bioware cared to do so with only a few simple words.

*snip*

BioWare doesn't have to do anything.

If BioWare doesn't give what people want though I guess they can vote with their feet.

In the end, the game belongs to it's creators.

We as consumers can only own copies of said game.

We don't have to like said game.

Now I will meet you half way.

It would be nice (and helpful) for BioWare to communicate more with the fans.

This is not mandatory. It would be nice though.

That said, if BioWare says one thing and does the other, then there will be backlash.

So one must be careful.

I'm not very black and white regarding these issues.

Shame on you for using a single thread to justify labeling an entire community.

Actually, what I just did there is what's called "providing an example." It's what a person does when they want to demonstrate the nature of something to another person, using a representative segment as indicative of the whole. That thread isn't somehow separate from the community just because it's overwhelmingly vitriolic instead of just the normal amount.

You're gonna have to learn to deal with, accept, and get along with those who don't agree.

I'm doing fine, thanks.

I'm pretty sure that by using a thread with more than normal/usual amount of hostile behaviour is not serving as a valid example on how the community is supposed to be hostile when it's evidently abnormal as per your wording. The correct term for that I believe would be exaggeration, not example.

  That's like saying pointing out that a man is missing a toe is exaggerating how disfigured he is. Someone claimed he wasn't disfigured, so I pointed out the toe. Ignoring it doesn't make him less disfigured.

Someone claimed the community wasn't toxic, so I pointed them at a spot where the community is being toxic. It's all about context.

No, you pointed at an abnormally hostile minority and, despite all logical process after you said that it was more hostile than normal, concluded that the entire community is hostile based on that sample.

To put that in line with the quoted analogy:

You pointed at a man who's missing a toe and conclude that everyone in his vicinity is likewise disfigured.

Now, I will readily admit that I have not been following the DAI forum sections much (avoiding spoilers prior and right after the game release, then didn't bother to follow it after I quit DAI because I don't like the game at all), so my firsthand experience on how the DAI specific part of community acts right now is something I can't relate to. But I've roaming the boards for a long time (started when the BSN wasn't even a thing back then) and my experience has always been the same, people were helpful, mostly pleasant and passionate. Even during the infamous ME3 ending thing, most people were still helpful, mostly pleasent and the whole thing only became as infamous exactly because so many people were that passionate about it. And yes, a couple nutjobs are always there to blow everything out of proportion and generally being assholes. They were there during ME1, DAO, ME2, DAII, ME3 and undoubtedly now with DAI. The same kind of people are also present at any other existing community where people are passionate enough to care and express their opinions, as extreme they may be sometimes. ANd some of those people can be very, very vocal, but they still won't speak for the majority.

I suggest you work on your analogical processing a bit.  Let me break that one down for you:

Man = Community

Toe = Person or subgroup in community

Disfigurement = Toxicity

If the metaphor had been that everyone in his vicinity was likewise disfigured, I would have been saying that all internet communities were toxic. Which is arguably true, but not what I said.

You know, I was about to give you the point here and adjust my argument, but then I read the bolded part.

No point in trying to argue categorization when the way we perceive our surroundings appears to be fundamentally incompatible. You likely wouldn't understand my point of view anyway and I'm not about to try and waste time explaining my point more than I've done on multiple occasions already, in this thread and others.

I'll just end this argument right here and say I disagree vehemently with your assessment.

I can't decide if this thread is getting toxic, or merely getting ridiculous.

They may not talk to us, but it doesn't mean they don't read things we post here.
