The BE seems the exact same to me as it was in DA2, only this time I actually purchased something (dagger for Cole). BE in DA2 was only good for the Mirror, and there were more codexes. What were you expecting?

Actually BE has a lot more utility this time around considering crafting. I usually just went for the mirror and the codex. The newbie gear wasn't all that great, and the upper tier stuff never really caught my attention. Now....

Well. Funny things and Codexes.

And, perhaps i was a fool for doing so, but i thought the Mirror might actually allow you to save character faces. You know, so i can make them again without having to take 50 screenshots of various slider positions.

Its of very little use to me in its current state.

More preconfirmed fantasies confabulated by the fans that the devs never stated would actually be implemented in the Emporium.

Annnyway.

This topic is about the Black Emporium being "A little Disappointing". I agree. The functionality is fine, but that could have just as easily been patched in anywhere at any store.

My frustration is at the lack of what i felt made the Black emporium in DA2 great. It was funny. I enjoyed the Codex entries. I enjoyed the ridiculous crap laying around. I felt more could have been done with a very minimal effort. How much can it really cost to write a paragraph of some funny lore and attach it to a book?

But to take your cake analogy, would cry and stomp your feet at the party and tell everyone, "I wanted chocolate!"

Nope. Happily, I'm not doing that. And as far as I can see neither is anyone else. It's interesting how people seem to want to MAKE a bigger fuss just so that they have something to object to.

Indeed. Best thing about BE in DA2 was that I could change my hairstyles after each act...but not much else

I really don't understand how one can be disappointed in the BE not having stuff in it that was never promised. It makes no sense.

I guess most game companies fail then since most games need patches these days

In the "good old days" there were no patches ... does not mean there were no bugs in games despite the code being much smaller. There was no (simple) way to patch things, hence no patches.

We could go back to no patches, but I suspect gamers are too spoiled and expect fixes.

I feel like people are conflating disappointment with expectation and more than a smidge of entitlement. Stop. They're not the same thing. As I see it disappointment is primarily the byproduct of hope.

Heh. Games were as close to finished as they could be, because you couldn't just download a fix. And you didn't have the internet to research the problem.

I had a game that the game company sent me a floppy disk with a patch, AFTER snail-mailing them a question as to why my game was crashing in this one spot. That's the only time I remember having a patch for a game before the 'net became a thing.

I think it serves some good utility, letting you buy tier 3 schematics without farming them with save/reload/area transition schemes.

Am I crazy though, or were tier 3 materials not for sale? I only saw tier 2. Maybe it's gated by story progress or level?

I guess I was a little disappointed at the lack of story content, there not being a cutscene or anything. But mainly because the story of the shop's proprietor is so interesting. I was left wishing I could help him, but also wondering if it isn't a better story that he is left in his current state for eternity. Maybe someday we'll get to explore that a little more in a quest of some kind.

Not to mention from what I've heard if you lived a place where you could and would not be able to get a hold of a patch, there was nothing to be done

Was game refunds because of game-breaking bugs a thing back then?

Not really disappointed in the BE. It was free after all. Yes, I wish they would make more hairstyles, but we get that complaint in every game of both DA and ME.

I was expecting a codex about blood magic, because you know he says "i have a library on the history of forbidden magic", so it made sense that if you looked around you could find a codex entry on it. I looked for some time and the only interesting thing was the Meredith statue.

Welcome to the internet.

AFAIK it only has the ultra hard RNG Dalish Warrior schematic, but you can get the others from Exalted plains and Hissing Wastes 100%
