I can't believe how messed up the login/signup process for this site is!

Alright so here's my problem: I can't log in to this account.  How am I posting from it? I don't know! I tried to log in to the new account I created with a different email address (so as to get around the problems I've been having with this site) and it logs me in to the account I had thought was inaccessible!

This account is linked to my existing EA and Bioware accounts, I linked them when I first signed up for the Social Network.  That first time, it worked great, I was logged in, could do everything I was supposed to be able to do.  The second, and every subsequent time I've tried to log in it simply takes me back to the sign up screen.  If I try to go through the sign up process it tells me that either my email address has already been used or the screen name has, depending on if I launch the site from withing Dragon Age or not.  No combination of different browsers or cache clearing has helped me.  But the account certainly exists, as I'm posting from it right now!

So, unable to redeem all the codes I pre ordered and paid for I'm pretty frustrated.  Frustrated enough to try just making a new account from scrath, with a different email address.  I signed up and logged in properly, I even looked up the Bunkmancow account to see if it was there, and it is.  So I logged out to see if I'd get screwed over again, and when I try logging in to the new, different email account I end up in the old one!

I've even got a different browser, cache cleared open, and using the new email address still logs me into the old account!  How is that even possible?  The accounts are in no way linked, using different email addresses!  Now I don't want to redeem any of my codes 'cause I don't know where the hell they're going to end up!

In summary:  WTF EA? Really.  WTF?

Yes, i cant believe they rolled out this site for the dlc. Way too buggy for a retail game boasting preorder dlcs and stuff. I can't login to my account too, hence my temp suffix.

If you would like the Dragon Age Updater service to run when your

system starts, follow these steps:

- Run "services.msc" from the Run menu option in Windows. Pressing

the Windows key + "r" will bring this up. (NOTE: services.msc

controls essential components of Windows. Errors in configuration

can prevent the system from operating correctly. Any changes you

make in services.msc are at your own risk.)

- Find the "Dragon Age: Origins Updater" service in the list.

- Double-click on the service to bring up the properties.

- Press the "Start" button if the service is not currently running.

- Change "Startup type:" to "Automatic".

- Close the properties and Services interface.

there you go i found it for ya

I've done some more fiddling around but my situation hasn't changed. Here's some more info, if it helps at all towards the fixing of these bugs.

- I still log on to this account (Bunkmancow) when I enter either the email address or screen name for the new account I created (DFKQ is the screen name). I still can NOT log on to this account (Bunkmancow) using the screen name or email address associated with it.

- If I go to the EA home page I can log in with either email address, both of them appearing to be distinct. Each email address has a Dragon Age persona listed, each with different numbers after the underscore.

- This account (Bunkmancow) is the one I've been using in-game, logging in with the email address. None of my player information appears on the social site, I've tried uploading screen shots but they haven't appeared either. Don't know if this is related or not but the fact that the in game stuff hasn't been connecting with the site just reinforces my decision not to try to enter any DLC codes until this mess is sorted out.

EDIT: One more thing to add.  Something HAS changed:  Now when I try to log on to this accoung using the proper name/email address I get stuck on the second page of the signup process (the one with the screen name and avatar) rather than the first, with the email address being the sticking point.  I get the "this screen name is already taken" error and can't get past it.

Things are changing but my account still seems pretty broken.

I can now log into this account using the screen name, but not the email address. Trying to log in with the email address brings me to the second page of the sign up sheet where I get the "screen name already taken" message.

Logging in with either the screen name or email address of the second account I made still logs me in to this one.

I'm still reluctant to try any DLC codes as I suspect that this account is not linked to my in-game account even though they share the same email address. None of my in-game characters or achievements show up and neither do any of the screenshots I've tried to upload.

I'm considering just deleting this account (now that I can log in to it) and starting over but I'm not sure if I'll be able to use the same email address (the one all the in-game stuff should be associated with) after deletion.

I deleted a account before and i'm pretty sure the account doesn't get wiped entirely from the database, as i couldn't use the screen name anymore. My advice is to contact a moderator to delete the account for you(to make sure that it is wiped entirely)

I'm just pissed that this is my display name. It never even asked me to pick one. I feel cheated.

Quick reply either doesn't work or takes a long time.  Anyway, the signup process is crappy in that it isn't very upfront with a lot of thing.  For instance my display name and then followed by not being allowed to change my display name once it was set.  Crap, truly crap.

I agree, I ended up having to signup with this <---- stupid name because I got caught in some viscous cycle of it telling me to put in my email address which I did, then it stating that this is an EA registered address and that I need to put in my Bioware ID. Very confusing :(

Well I'm happy to report I seem to have solved my problems. I just deleted my account, used the in game button to launch the social site and signed up under the same name and here I am.

My guess is that somehow two accounts of the same name got created, one through the in-game process and one by the website itself. This is probably why I could sign in using the screen name but not the email address. I was signing in to the phantom account, the one not actually associated with my in game account. More evidence of this is that as soon as I deleted and re signed up all my in game data and screen shots appeared. I'm sure they were there all along but I couldn't see them because I was signed in to the phantom account. Also, the posting of this thread doesn't appear on my history any more and this thread now appears to have been created by a nameless, faceless ghost! :P

Anyway, whatever combination of Bioware/EA's fixing / my mucking around it was I'm just happy it appears to be resolved.
