I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to this franchise ( I didn't even know Bioware existed 3 years ago, let alone Mass Effect or Dragon Age.) I've only played Mass Effect 2 thus far, but I know the story of the three games. My favourite one is definitely the second one. Anyway, the only thing I like about ME3 so far is the combat system, which I think is far better than 2's. I also like how you can modify your weapons and how Shepard can use all weapon types. Now, I know how this game ends, and I can't say I'm looking forward to it. I also wish there were more squad members. What do you think of ME3?

Enjoyed it immensely.  It's one of my most-played games.

One thing I disliked was how, even if you'd reached the end of an NPCs dialogue tree, they'd still be selectable to talk to, so every time you did, they'd just repeat the last thing they said.

ME3 is my favorite ME game. I love the story, the sort of dark atmosphere, the squadmates and the fact that I can romance Kaidan. Also because we finally see the Reaper invasion and y'all know I love the Reapers (I'm one of the few ones, maybe only one, on BSN who wants to see them in ME:Next). The DLCs are also great, best of the Trilogy IMO.

I also think that the classes are better in ME3. The powers and extra powers are awesome. Weapons are nice too. Awesome armors.

I think the endings were great (especially Control, obviously).

The multiplayer is so much fun. Love playing it.

Now what do I dislike about ME3...

Some bugs that completly break immersion.

Priority: Earth feels rushed at times.

That's pretty much it.

Like

-Multiplayer. 1000+ hours. Loved it!!!

-Atmosphere

-The raw emotion!!! This was amazing throughout almost the entire game.

-The sub stories beneath the main story. Krogan genophage, Geth/Quarian war, the artifact on Thesia, the citadel coup were all quite interesting.

Dislike

-The lack of emotion, the sudden change of tone in the original ending, and the nonsensical space magicky nature of it (the extended cut made this a little better but still far from perfect)

-The overall story being based around a magic machine that would solve the problem instantly. Created the ending problem.

-Time dilation effects. Never liked them but Multiplayer showed me just how annoying these are and how much better the game play is without them.

Likes= Avenger and Weapon Mods returned!

Dislikes= Tech was magic-y(ME2 problem also), and sniper rifles other than Raptor(I think thats the on you get on Surkesh anyway) were mostly useles since majority of fights were SG to AR range, in yo' face to medium in simple terms. Boring combat aproaching CoD with space magic(tech/biotics) or a useless soldier grunt. I admit I'm biased though, since my favorite weapon category(sniper rifles) and my favorite power type(tech) was ruined in ME2, and Me3 failed to improve sniping enough(they tried though) and didn't even change tech.

I liked:

the crew/squadmates

the mood/atmosphere

the soundtrack

the ending to the Reaper/Shepard saga and new beginning for the galaxy

I didn't like:

the linearity (can't stress this enough)

the lack of exploration

the lack of difficulty

the fact that they didn't implement the suicide mission mechanic on a grander scale for Priority:Earth

Kai Leng

Last but not least (and I know this is nitpicking) but why in the name of Zeus' butthole can we not holster our weapons?!

Liked:

-Combat (enemy types, enemy AI, weapon feel, class tweaks, weapon upgrades, roll-dodge, character movement, weapon switching, seamless cutscene to gameplay transition, etc.)

-Multiplayer (horde mode, class/race types, loadouts & powers, maps, etc.)

-Banter (Normandy/Citadel/etc., pre & post mission unique squadmate dialogue, etc.)

-Characters (+New additions, +incorporation of previous characters, Shepard introspection, romances, NPC character arcs, etc.)

-"Death" (Death scenes were handled very well, a lot of impactful deaths depending on how you play as well)

-Locations (Mars, Citadel, Chronos, Palavan, Rannoch, etc.)

-DLC (all top notch except Aria's speech, Javik a great character, Leviathan fun & important to trilogy, MASH-esque bittersweet ending in Citadel DLC, etc.)

-Music (use of Vigil, Earth theme, Mars theme, Catalyst theme, etc.)

-Voice Acting (top notch for the series, also best facial animations)

Dislikes:

-Galactic Readiness (MP was good on its own, no reason to force it)

-Reaper Awareness (pretty shallow mechanic, doesn't add much depth)

-London (+goodbyes but level itself felt rushed)

-Ending execution (RGB choice consequences have contrast but lack depth, poorly foreshadowed in story & themes of ME3 itself, Catalyst setup felt rushed, child as catalyst felt generic)

-"Perfect playthrough" (imported playthrough feels too sanitized compared to zero import playthrough, impact lessoned?)

-Credits music (how do you not have M4 Part 2????)

Why is it that people rarely list the music as one of the "likes" or better parts of the ME trilogy?

I liked ME3's music, but the overall soundtrack isn't the best of the trilogy, so it gets overshadowed.

Liked:

-Gameplay

-emotion/atmosphere

-the characters

-the story as a whole when not nitpicking it

-Tuchanka

-Rannoch

-Leviathan DLC

-Citadel DLC

-Not wasting time with dialogue wheels which all led to the same outcome like in previous games

-This game's 'mining' actually added to the lore instead of just filling a meter {obviously, it still fills a meter, but you also get additional lore info for almost every asset}

Disliked:

-linearity

-vanilla ending and Extended Cut ending before Leviathan

-From Ashes being paid day one DLC instead of free like Zaeed: The Price of Revenge or just being in the vanilla game

-Thessia [not necessarily in terms of plot, but the actual mission itself]

-The Journal

-not having enough dialogue wheels which led to different outcomes and the lack of neutral choices [yes, I know I have a dialogue wheel listed in the things I liked, but I am not talking about the same thing in both places. ME3 didn't have nearly as many cases of every single choice in a wheel leading to the same exact line as 1 or 2, but unfortunately it doesn't have enough cases of dialogue wheels which did lead to different lines of dialogue]

-Not enough side quests

-most of the side quests we did get just rehashed the MP maps

-Kai Leng

-Omega DLC's glitchiness

-you don't see the Geth fleet amongst the other races' if you made peace unlike the Quarians

Like:

-Long, exciting and intense story missions (Tuchanka and Rannoch were fantastic)

-Finally seeing more female aliens

-Paragon/Renegade metre less restrictive (more roleplay opportunity)

-Squadmates interact with heach other on the ship,  come up to Shep's quarters, have more story involvement/input

-Emotion from Shep

-Gameplay/combat

-The dlc (especially the Citadel)

-Alternate armour (should be in-game though, not dlc)

-Javik, everything about him

-More interactions with EDI and taking her on the team (AI are fascinating!)

Dislike

-Aspects of the ending choice and Priority:Earth

-Ashley's appearance and personality/input (how come she never leaves her room/talks to anyone, and one of her few conversations with Shep involves lying on the floor mumbling about being drunk?)

-EDI's body design, especially the robo-toe.

-Only two dialogue options (DA does this better)

-Kai Leng

-Forced emotion (I like that Shep emotes more, but I want to choose how and when)

-Thane and Jacob's romance conclusions (especially Jacob - seriously??)

-No Tali face reveal on Rannoch

-Aspects of character creator (hair colours and texture are better. Hairstyles and eye texture are worse)

Damn near everything.

Dislike:

Ending could have been better; too much autodialogue; sidequests are the weakest in the series; certain awkward leaps in narrative logic.

Fourth favorite game. :)

LIKE:
Combat

Squad banter (particulary squadmates reacting to very small choices like Tali saying she hates the vents if she was picked to be the vent specialist in the SM)

Reputation system

Weapons mods

Skill tree

Conrad Verner

Tuchanka

Citadel DLC

Soundtrack
Saying goodbye to everyone

Going to Citadel in causal gear

DISLIKE:

The ending

Cerberus becoming cartoon villains

Lack of ME2 squadmates in ME3

Cutcene incompetence (particulary in Priority Citadel II)

Kai Leng

Forced emotions at some point (Thessia)

Removal of the neutral option in the dialogue wheel

Bugs

Game becomes noticeably rushed after Rannoch

Overal feeling of wasted potential (Stuff I heard that was being planned being removed from game like  Priority Earh being more similar to the suicide mission, a better Priority Thessia, temporary squadmates in certain missions etc...)

ME3 was the worst of the 3 games imo. I agree with you that they improved the combat and the weapon modification approach was good. Rannoch and Tuchanka arcs had promise.

Sadly all the roleplaying aspects were hacked back, no neutral dialogue choices and rapid expansion of auto-dialogue to replace player characterisation. I thought the squad was weak and small and the complete absence of any of the ME2 exlcusive squaddies was both wrong and disappointing. Their cameos were largely weak with the odd exception such as Mordin/Legion. Disliked the way Cerberus were turned back into cheap goons in a supposed galactic war against reapers. I hate the horrible attempt to reduce a galactic extinction event into a the only thing that matters is saving earth event. Then there's the utter trainwreck that is Priority earth and beyond.

Almost everything

Dislikes:

  • Use of the action button for EVERYTHING
  • That mission where you have to run from side to side aiming at a Reaper (feels out of place in mass effect).
