So Issy is still the same 'ol slutty pirate same 'ol slatternly pirate we knew in DA2?  I was afraid to romance her in DA2 because I didn't know the quality and availability of antibiotics in Kirkwall. DA2 was the first Bioware game where I went without a gf.

In DAIMP, I see Issy is still the same sweet, slutty Issy I knew in DA2:

    1) Her default armor is similar to the short, low cut battle dress she had in DA2.

    2) She appears to be wearing either a thong or nothing at all beneath her "armor".

    3) She says things like:

"What's red and veiny and throbs?"

           "Who needs Isabella's magic touch?"

"It's all in the wrists, children."

           "Well, slap my ass,..."

   4) She wears armor with names like "Boned"

   5) She has abilities with names like "Hard Astern" and "Hot Streak"

I just wish she had more stamina and she wasn't so squishy to play with,

  -  that's squishy in a bad way,

  -  as in weak,

  -  you know,

  -  she dies easy when overwhelmed by enemy numbers.

Dear Isabela,

Sorry I misspelled your name in my Topic Header.

Please don't go all Hard Astern on me while wearing your Boned.

Your friend from DA2 who let you walk away from the party and was too scared to make you his girl,

Ha... ok, I'm alright now. Seriously though, if you think she's weak you have built her wrong. I soloed a threatening dragon 30 mins ago, and my promotions aren't uber high (see signature). Focus on Evasive, and you'll be fine.

So, making sex jokes and enjoying sex makes her 'slutty'? Tsk....

Isabela is still the same Isabela, i don't see how that's a problem. Though, i have to admit i don't like the supposedly "open relationship" thingy she has with Hawke. Ruins the romance we had in da2. Oh well.

Dear WildOrchid,

Sorry if I offended you by calling your romantic partner a slutty pirate.  Please accept my apology and pass it on to the "open relationship" Isabela, should you see her.

Your friend,

Thanks for the laugh and advice.

I've only gotten her to Level 10, atm.  I think I'm shooting too many Bow shots, so I have too little Stamina when I should be building Elusive with my Flank Attack and Flashing Steel.

I have a programmable mouse and it seems if Isabela has too little Stamina to fire off FA or FS, she'll just fire her Bow again even if I think I'm not hitting the Bow button, keeping her stamina too low to use her Elusive creating powers?  I am constantly having low Stamina with the Duelist.

I consider her ready for threatening (not to solo mind you, but to be part of the team) at level 6. First thing, get fully upgraded flank strike. Then, the passive on the right tree that gives you stamina on a crit. One thing to keep in mind, unless you have really high cunning, don't bother with the ranged tree. You will be always out of stamina. Anyways, your strategy pre-ubercunning: get in close, shoot Bolt once, then flank strike. Shoot another enemy, use Flashing Steel. Auto attack if you need to regain stamina. Repeat. That's pretty much how I roll even fully leveled- only difference is, you have Swashbuckler for bosses. Do that, and you should be rarely taking damage.

edit: when I say don't bother with the ranged tree, I mean the active abilities. You will want/need the passives. They way I see it, you do as I said earlier, then work your way down the left tree to the bottom. (don't upgrade swashbuckler) Then you spend the rest of your levels snatching up those sweet passives. Also, get the upgrade on flashing steel, that -10 stamina cost goes a long way. Damage is nice too.

Yep.  Proud to say I did.

Spent a good 2 - 3 minutes getting the lighting, leg position, and camera angle just right

A triangulate black bikini thong, perhaps?

don't bother with the ranged tree.

Considering how ludicrously good Broadside is, not sure I agree with this.  Especially considering it's right there and all the passives around it make it even better.  That skill is just bonkers.

She seems like one of those characters who has enough insanely good options that there're many ways to bring them all together.  She's pretty hard to make...not ridiculously strong no matter which path.

Cooldown and cast time are too long IMO. Also, dat stamina cost. It's not really effective for the melee game.

What's slattern? Is this something dirty? I wouldn't know - I'm an innocent Hungarian foreigner, still learning the English. But one day I will write a dictionary.

*Any rogue, as it should be

Even though Isabela is by far the easiest rogue to not get overwhelmed. You should check out her Evasion tree if you're having issues, it's pretty awesome.

Every time I gain a stack of elusive an archer spawns to shoot me. Tried to tank the demon commander with elusive stacks. Didn't work out at all.

I hear ya.  It's easy to use up her stamina quickly, especially with that handy Bolt ability.  For myself I am using an enhanced stamina amulet for this reason.

Here's my current build which I find effective for her (all upgraded).

Flashing Steel

Keelhaul

Bolt

Evade - (Altbouli!!)

Believe it or not, I had to actually consult the dictionary for the slatternly word. *non-native speaker shifty excuse*

Though I wouldn't call her that, she is really so sweet and funny. I'd rather say that she's a free spirit with a taste for the good things in life. :D

For me, it seems that the Bolt/Flashing Steel/Flank attack/Swashbuckle build works well. I know Broadside/Keehaul are also good skills, but for now I am running this and having insane fun. That's the best in playing her - she is versatile and if you get bored, you could spice it up with another build because a lot of things work for her.

Yeah, I've been experimenting with skills and come up with "Survivabela"- replace swashbuckle with fully upgraded Keelhaul. You see two or three enemies together, blast them with keelhaul then hit them with flashing steel. They'll probably die, and you get 2-3 stacks of elusive. Makes you more efficient defensively, in exchange for the single target dps boost of swashbuckle.

^Sounds good. May try it this time around. Tbh, I am not that impressed with Swashbuckle, mainly because I seem to be playing the game in two modes - super brilliant OP teams and... not so brilliant teams to put it gently. In the first case, most things die before I have a real use for it (though it's good for the dragon) and in the second case I cannot always risk my stacks of evasive.

I need more cunning. *asap*
