This elephant is going to enter the room eventually. May as well bring it in now. (ME 4 related)

An ending for the next game? Lets see. Hahaha

After the game ends, a scene showing Shepard removing the rubble from her torso and says. "What the heck did I just dream about?" Hahahaha. Awesome

This being a big concern is just something I have seen here on the boards a couple of times, also it's not meant to be a superserious comment, hence the smiley.
Just a general observation that people will always complain, no matter what they get.

You can bet people would complain that no one was complaining if we actually got an epic ending that made everyone happy.

No point being worried about the ending since we know nothing about the story and the game for that matter.

If it's not like ME1's ending than it's not doing it right.

Prediction:

It's 2020.

We're on the Mass Effect 5 boards.

And Iakus is still complaining about the ME3 ending.

I literally laughed out loud when I read this.

I am hoping they will learn from the DAO and DAI team and make the kind of ending where its open for continuation and yet finishes off what has been happening in the game. Mostly.

Planning a whole trilogy: Get in planned out to a reasonable level of detail before you start. You shouldn't slavishly hold yourself to that plan but if you've got it in place then you've got a much better chance of making changes without screwing them up due to not thinking through the implications or finding you've spent ages on something that goes nowhere. Let the player have as much deviation from the fixed path as possible - the more the better, [i]if/i] you can make it work. It's hard to do successfully but that's why a game that succeeds in that will be a better game than one that doesn't try (if everything else is equal), and hopefully everyone wants the best game possible within time and budget constraints.

Endings (again...) Variation, fitting in with the tone and so on. Must be done right, no last minute surprises (unless they fit in with clues throughout the story). There's nothing wrong with a happy ending (the idea that "happy" can be wrong is really rather twisted, the world could use a lot more happiness), the only problem is that they get boring and predictable if that's always the outcome. Ideally I want a game where I need to work for that, that I can't just metagame my way through to get it, and that I can't be sure until the end, and if something bad happens I want it to really kick me in the guts because it's my fault. There's no completely happy ending for everyone to the genophage arc yet that seems to be the most popular part of ME3. Is it my imagination or has this all been discussed before a few times? :D

I would imagine it will be an ending akin to ME1's. One where it can be considered closure or continued, depending upon the commercial success of the game. With their decision to leave the original ME universe behind they're entering in to new and uncharted territory as far as the franchise goes so its anyone's guess at this point whether ME4 will be as successful as its predecessors.

We shall see.  The copout to run off to Andromeda and try to make a mass effect game in a galaxy with no mass relays seems to be ....  pretty much the worst attempt I can think of.  For every little bit of the Mass Effect "soul" you have to tear out to try to recover from the dogfart of ME3, you have less and less of what made the series incredible.

If the crapstains of the ME3 ending(s) are allowed to influence the next game then I think they have dropped the ball.  Hell, they never caught it.  I mean, lets be honest - this is more about being on the ball than catching it.  A good game requires a balance of combat, story, animations and interface.  ME3 had most of that pretty down pat, with the exception of story.  They had too many contingencies to account for over the course of the series - things like did Grunt make it, did you sell Legion, did Wrex die on Virmire, etc.  They even "wasted" time on Conrad Verner.  They spent all of their energy tracking all of these contingencies and implementing them - which made the story suffer immensely.  They lost the forest for the trees.

Given what ME3 was story wise, I think people will be fairly cautious with the next game.  Sure, you will have some die-hard fans who will get it no matter what - but will that be enough?  Time will tell.  Maybe they can capture the magic again.

Yep, and at this point the only reason for people to not like it is because of personal tastes, which is absolutly NOT Bioware's problem.

Pretty much all the reasons they give for hating the ending aren't valid anymore (because of EC and Leviathan).

EDIT: Most people are just still butthurt about the pre-EC ending. They need to move on. They should've done it a very long time ago.

I'm not even going to bother legitimizing this post by posting a rebuttal to it.
