The Grand Oak is a spirit though, a spirit tethered to a tree, but a spirit none the less, and unlike the mad hermit, spirits don't really die when stabbed repeatedly. ![]()
Even if the player decided to kill the rhyming sylvan there is no reason why a spirit such as that couldn't find a new tree to inhabit during the ten years between DA:O and DA:I. Another thing to consider is that the Grand Oak's acorn seed, his most prized possession, is still around regardless of what the player does, who's to say that it isn't something similar to Flelmeth and her shard, a backup copy should the original die?
Any spirit that is able to fully inhabit a tree for hundreds of years and not go violently insane has to have some considerable power behind it, would the death of the host tree really spell the end for the Grand Oak?

the awakened collector of dragon age is the awakened darkspawn not a demon you see them in the expansion to DA:O called awakening, demons seem less likely to help due to a chaotic nature spirits on the other hand is entirely possible but we've yet to see(excluding Cole) of spirits being able to appear in our world in there own forms and not via a possession as we see with Avvar shamans and certain rare case mages like Anders or Wynne but its not unheard of as it seems possible to summon a spirit as seen in Solas's quest to help his friend Wisdom but as mentioned by spirits before most don't care for our world that's something demons want to get too.
Yup. But I went for demons because we've already met awakened darkspawn, and plenty of people have already mentioned them as an option. I seriously want to play as a demon. There are many rival groups in the fade, why wouldn't a few seek to weaken Nightmare and Envy by fighting them through the rift? The enemy of my enemy is still my enemy but he can help out for now.

That or even Demons that were already present in Thedas before the Breach happened. Here you have a demon that has spent decades, maybe even centuries, building up their power base in the physical realm, and then BOOM! A giant hole is ripped in the sky and all these 'upstart' spirits come pouring out of the Fade upsetting all of their carefully laid plans.
Heck it could even help the Inquisition out of spite for the other demons that got a 'free pass' into the mortal world via the Breach when it had to work and fight for its current position.

I don't know what kind of magical skills Mae has, but my friend was wanting a spell-binder agent....could be a two-fer!
Some really great ideas here...I hope someone from BW is reading this...or post it in feedback/suggestions, too?

Vortex13 that's a very valid point glad I pulled you into a good explanation
sorry for that deception there and that's a very useful way for a unique character to be added it also can explain the fix to his height as trees grow as a soul or body does.
To the demons yea its quite possible to make a deal with one but gotta remember the inquisition is built to stopping the rift, beating the **** out of demons and acting templary but then again some demons are quite capable of being useful at times but you need to remember sometimes this will backfire remember the arl of redcliffs son? read something bad happened there, remember the human-elf hybrid in DA2? again something bad happens, that warden commander corpse possessed in wardens keep DLC in DA:O? I believe she is killable in DA2 never tried for myself, even Ishmael before he appeared in DA:l as a minor sadly is the same, only solution I can see involves Solas and/or a heavily dangerous binding ritual or if we're lucky it could be similar to the Nightmare a dark demon who most of the time doesn't attack the dark centres of peoples dreams in his own words until Cory convinced him others wise(I still say hes the formless one think about it) another option could be someone who is directly inbetween benevolent and demonic not only unique but has access to the darker side with the lore at there side.
if ya haven't noticed I tend to be what ya call a lore conceptionist my only true skill to game design.

Also, anything similar to zither/Isabella would be fantastic additions. Zither brings such life and Isabella could be counted as range and melee. More characters like them and DAMP would REALLY shape up to be an amazing experience.
Seeing another tank - true tank. Somehow make it so they DO get all attention in a massive radius. Or a support rogue. Anything supporty.

Id like to see an entropic mage that uses hexes as a means to debuff an enemy and provide support to the team.
Vulnerability hex increasing damage, misdirection causing the target to miss you or the team, entropic cloud to apply DOT to an area, a paralysis spell that applies a stun, and an area spell that applies weaken.
I really hope Luke and the team checks these kinds of threads/replies. I want to play an entropic mage soooo bad.
Blame Patrick Weekes for writing Creation and Entropic hexes so damn well in the masked empire novel

Sword and shield, elemental resistances and some powers could do little extra damage to dragons. Maybe some remote relative of the Pentaghasts ... except more vocal about being part of nobility and his however remote connection to the throne.

The current weekend op made me wonder - now that we have dragons, how about Nevarran dragon hunter warrior?

Considering Cassandra's the, what, Seventy-Sixth in line for the throne, that leaves some wiggle room for a Pentaghast to join the Inquisition. Maybe to help give him/her more fame and perhaps a better shot at the throne or something?

I doubt sucession works that way.
Does not mean even a minor noble would not brag in the company of the lowly peasants other agents about his* title and heroic deeds despite being little more than a mercenary. Of course, Sidony would have none of that. Probably no-one would give a damn except maybe Belinda, who is noble herself and sounds bit romantic to beat.
*) another female Pentaghast would seem like overkill
Of course, writeres at BioWare probably come up with better stuff ... I mean ZITHER!, like, seriously? ![]()

I'd really like to see an ice Mage. Someone with ice wall.
Seeing another tank - true tank. Somehow make it so they DO get all attention in a massive radius. Or a support rogue. Anything supporty.
I think we are unlikely to see a frost mage, given that the necromancer already has a tree called Permafrost and the Elementalist has a few frosty options, as well.
And I doubt we'll see a character more tanklier than the legionnaire. He has, like, all the tanking things. It sounds like your issue might be more that Challenge and War Cry don't seem to work reliably.

Well, yeah, and they were paying tribute to Penny Arcade. I didn't mean him specifically. Though it might be tricky because... do mabari go into combat solo? Or do they have to bond with someone?

Yeah, except I'd like to see a support ice mage with new spells. But as for legionaire, I'd really like his tanking capabilities to be worthwhile. I feel like guard should have a nice amount of armor associated with it - and apparently the passives were bugged and he can't actually increase his max guard. I don't know if that's been fixed though.
With that said, I was thinking of some ice mage abilities that would be kind of cool to see -- or maybe just make a Storm mage. So ice and electric capabilities:
Winter's Grasp
Chilly Winds: send out icy winds in front of caster that freezes enemies. Enemies that aren't frozen are pushed back and slowed.
Ice Wall (I just really want to use this ability)
Ice glyph/mine - whatever it's called.
Ice shield: barrier that absorbs X amount of damage. Or maybe an effect of reflecting enemy spells back at attacker while melee attacks are slowed against enemies attacking.
Glacier/Iceburg: Slam a glacier in an area doing massive damage and slowing enemies. Basically, think Horror - the necromage ability, but an icicle being dropped on an aoe zone.
The other tree could be electric:
Barrier
Electric mine: shocks floor stunning enemies that walk over it and deals DoT.
Lightning quick: speeds allies attack (or movement?)
Electric fury/storm: it'd be an AoE around caster w/ rain and lightning. Rain would heal allies for small amount over a period of time --- really small amount, like bard, while the lightning would stun and do some damage to enemies
Electric time freeze ability: slows down enemies attack and movement speeds while applying DoT that quickly decays over a short time.
I'd just like to see more of the electric abilities along w/ some icy support stuff going on. It could be a lot of fun. (I just reeaaaalllly want to use ice wall. lol).

How about the Company of Adventurers? that special war table operations line that involves turning some guys in the tavern into a fighting force that in the end become there own Company/Group they seem to resemble what agents are in the online(Mass effect citadel anyone?) and maybe have them show up? honestly I want a warrior who is a swordmaster a guy who uses a 1h sword and no shield

Here's Idea I've been tossing around in my head, which SP war table missions would be great MP levels,
I mean take the Sir Barris's SP war table missions as an example.
