Editing class skills + skills?

I'm currently looking into editing skills, but one problem is that I only use 4 classes, and there's only 2 skills, which each class uses.

For example;

*Very early stages*

I've renamed Appraise to Woodcutting.

Only the Rogue uses Woodcutting as a class skill, Fighter/Ranger/Wizard doesn't. I don't want it to be the case of, one class benefits on one skill, because of said class.

Is it possible to edit the class skills? So that 1:1 skill ratio is set to each skill for each of the 4 classes.

Along with this, is the skill effects hard coded? Like mentioned above, I changed Appraise to Woodcutting. So now I can imagine when opening a shop (haven't tested but I can see it happening), would it say something like "Blah blah blah, merchant has been affected by your Woodcutting skill, blah blah blah".

I've been looking through all my folders/2da's, browsing online for a while and found nothing to do with editing skills/skills effects.

I imagine that the effect of the appraise skill is coded in the merchants conversation opening scripts. Its one of the AI scripts in that case. If its not there then it is probably hard code.

You can change class skills in the cls skill [classname] 2da's. Presumably you just skipped over them because there are a lot.

In NWN2 you can disable old skills and add new ones. I am not sure why you are replacing / renaming existing skills instead of adding new ones. The UI will pick up on new skills appropriately and display them etc..

Heh, I saw the cls files, but it must of totally skipped over my head to realize cls is short for class >_<

I've been using the nwn2s toolset for 4 years now (2500 hours on record) and this is the first time I'm looking to edit skills. Since then, I've never really heard of adding new skills or removing them.

After playing with the skills.2da just now, I didn't realize it was that easy :P
