Having gone through the absolute debacle that was Patch 7, I'd like to offer the following suggestions - seeing as I have no choice but to have Origin to get access to the game:

  • Easy to find notification on what the patch/update does - preferably while it's installing or a link after it installs.
  • The ability to play the game during patch download and installation as Blizzard does.
  • Actual technical support during "peak" hours in different countries. Having Australian support from 9am - 6:00pm is useless for most players who work. I don't even get home until at least 5:30, and that's when the lines close. Or, at least during times when major patches are rolled out.
  • Technical support that does not rely on flow charts, bad English and shitty attitudes to do their job.
  • Patches released as stand-alone downloadable files so that if the server b0rks from so many people hitting it, people are still able to download and install.
  • The ability to totally isolate the game from the internet for those of us who want to only play the single player game; setting "play offline" does nothing, as you still can't play the game until it's patched, which is ridiculous for a SPG.

Having problems with the patch last night, not knowing it was to be launched, trying to get and find support with no input at all from Origin/EA or Bioware was just bloody awful. Come on, how hard is it to have some reps trawling a specific forum advising of issues and helping? I didn't appreciate being told to call during my work hours (which is essentially useless, since I wouldn't be at my home computer) or that I'd have to try my luck with Facebook, and not being able to play the game in the meantime. origin are a huge company, if Blizzard can do this well, why can't they fork out and give the same service?

Kat, I share your pain 12 hours away with the corrupted downloads and lost handshaking due to saturated servers.  Blizzard only makes small on the fly hot changes for trivial items and runs a download in the background to install later for "bigger" items, which is certainly preferable to no access for extended periods when Bioware's servers are saturated.  In fairness, Bioware has done similar "'hotfixes", but they are few and far between and for the most part useless for the scope of work needed in DAI.

Your claims on customer service are disheartening and those belong in the realm of Origin feedback - they need to know if the service is treating customers poorly.

You are also correct about the patch notes, they should also be on origin in the game details perhaps as links or local pdf files. Viewing them should be easy access, so might I suggest this also post as an Origin feedback item?

Taken together you have some important data for the corporate quality assurance system, so Bioware rep should take notice.
