Having gone through the absolute debacle that was Patch 7, I'd like to offer the following suggestions - seeing as I have no choice but to have Origin to get access to the game:
- Easy to find notification on what the patch/update does - preferably while it's installing or a link after it installs.
- The ability to play the game during patch download and installation as Blizzard does.
- Actual technical support during "peak" hours in different countries. Having Australian support from 9am - 6:00pm is useless for most players who work. I don't even get home until at least 5:30, and that's when the lines close. Or, at least during times when major patches are rolled out.
- Technical support that does not rely on flow charts, bad English and shitty attitudes to do their job.
- Patches released as stand-alone downloadable files so that if the server b0rks from so many people hitting it, people are still able to download and install.
- The ability to totally isolate the game from the internet for those of us who want to only play the single player game; setting "play offline" does nothing, as you still can't play the game until it's patched, which is ridiculous for a SPG.
Having problems with the patch last night, not knowing it was to be launched, trying to get and find support with no input at all from Origin/EA or Bioware was just bloody awful. Come on, how hard is it to have some reps trawling a specific forum advising of issues and helping? I didn't appreciate being told to call during my work hours (which is essentially useless, since I wouldn't be at my home computer) or that I'd have to try my luck with Facebook, and not being able to play the game in the meantime. origin are a huge company, if Blizzard can do this well, why can't they fork out and give the same service?
