Agreed. I never truly felt like the companions were my friends but instead people working for me and I honestly think this has to do with them always calling my "Inquisitor" and not "Trevelyan" or something. I felt always above them which kind of disconnected me from my Quizzie.
I want a grounded protagonist in the next game.
I felt pretty grounded the last time I slid off a two foot boulder, and I know what you mean about being The Inquisitor, but there are a few companion scenes in which I've been able to say how uncomfortable I am with it. Maybe it depends on whether you choose Faithful or Unfaithful? I haven't finished the game yet, so I don't know how epic it's going to get.

I want a more grounded protagonist for DA4. The IQ was too much of a faux Jesus-like figure.
Until everyone whines about being an errand boy like Hawke and Bioware are forced to make Jesus 2.0 for DA5.

or telling the same old story of hero conquering evil like the Warden.

You mean like Shepard considering he did it first.
DAO got lucky because Loghain and Arl Howe were such interesting villains and took most of the time.

I guess that's true actually, they can never really please everyone. For me, I liked my Hawke and Warden, I felt a little disconnected with my IQ because of his status but It kind of goes away once I play long enough.
