You were lucky, after 3 Perilous dragons vanquished I got 1 level 4 dagger (Army Dirk), 1 level 16 common bow (no idea, just pure crap) and 1 Lesser Fire Rune (the lower grade possible)... Let's just say it's very underwhelming for the effort you put into it...

I've heard it's 1/10 drop rate to get Dragon loot. The likelyhood of a unique that's high level is probably much much lower than that. Regardless of RNGesus granting that level 16 rare, I don't feel lucky at all. It took at least 10 kills to find that crap bow.

With 1/10, you can't feel bad about only killing 3 Dragons that you didn't get anything. Ya gotta put more effort in than that.

I'm asking if anyone has found a Dragon item that is an upgrade to our current loot table. Anyone find anything of worth?

Anyone receive any loot from the Dragon on Perilous that is worthwhile? I got a rare level 16 Dragon Bow. I immediately dismantled it for scrap, because I have 3 different Griffon bows, and  2 Punched by the Makers I use.

Hopefully there's something better than the level 22/23 unique's I've had in my inventory for 4 months? I'd love to see some kind of upgrades to gear.

no.

the shield is terrible.

dont see why id use it over the proving shield

edit: the staff does look gud.

Only 3? Try 20+ if you want regular gear drops. The twitch stream said about 1/10, and so far that's right for me. I've done 40+ runs, and gotten 4 pieces of dragon gear. Some people are luckier of course, but you need to be doing the Dragon runs regularly if you are not depending on luck.

I challenge you to do 40 runs and declare you got nothing. You'll likely get something if you keep at it. How fast and when is not up to me, but RNGods. . . but imo the reward / time ratio is better than even opening chests (Hint: I've opened chests for hours and got squat for end game weapons... doing the same netted me a few L24 uniques)

I guess I am confused on how the loot from killing a dragon works.  The first couple I was in a party with that we killed on threatening had a card pop up as the dragon died.  I just finished a pug on perilous, and it seemed like the dragon didn't give anything.  Is that just a glitch, or did it give gold or something?

I don't know the drop rates, I just said the other guy was luckier than I was. I'm a bit envious of my teammate (yeah singular, not plural) who got Staff of the Dragon on the first run, Dagger of the Dragon on the second and Longbow of the Dragon on the third... While I understand the drops aren't 100% (which it was for him), I still got a level 4 Army Dirk, a level 5 shitty fire rune and a shitty common bow for 3 Perilous dragons, I have the right to feel slightly disappointed don't I?

I got my third new character via a dragon chest, so I am very happy, saved me 40 odd cloth and lots of salvaging.

Killing a dragon and not getting loot is...why bio? Not even gold? wtf

I shouldn't have to kill 40 dragons to get 4 worthwhile items either. Playing DAI on my spare time is disappointing, due to bugs & pugs & even local "gud" players, as it is.

At least give $$ for player's sweat, nobody likes working for free you know.

It's either a glitch or the faq is wrong and it's working as intended. No announcement as to what it is either way, at least that I'm aware of. I'm no longer crafting hammers. If I happen to play with people who use them I'll fight the dragon, but I'm saving my materials. It's sad that a routine lvl. pot pays out more than a dragon slaying sometimes.

Sheesh first-world entitlement.

Don't hunt dragons. No one is forcing you to. You can stick to buying chests and looting treasure rooms if you want. However...

Note how Third Race's teammate was ridiculously lucky with 3/3 end game item drops. I want to scream at him, but more to the point I want that luck and those items.

Also note, YMMV, I've spent a few hours just opening large chests before vs farming Perilous Dragons. Guess what gave me more end game weapons in that amount of time. It wasn't the large chests.

If you don't want to earn your dragon loot, just say so. That doesn't mean they'll give it to you. For the rest of us, this is the fastest path to end-game weapons. I just hope they don't nerf the drop rate.

Lol. Some people played on beta with us and never got a dragon weapon, even after 20 runs. Stop complaining.

I personally spent my entire sunday (pre-dlc) soloing on the beta for a staff of the dragon. Made about 8 runs. I didn't get it.

Drasca, we aren't even getting some gold or any items during some of the victories. Like nothing. Not even an army dirk. I don't even really care about getting the uber high level weapons right now, it would be nice to at least get some gold when you win, especially since all faction bosses pay out gold.

Wavebend, that's lovely and you're such a sweetheart (you really are!), but the faq doesn't say sometimes loot and gold is dropped. It implies that it will drop when the dragon is defeated. If that's not the case, then the faq must be changed. So far radio silence from bioware.

eta: they do state that dragon items are not guaranteed. I know that, everyone here know that. I could give two bags of llama droppings over dragon weapons, just give me gold and some kind of loot.

Here's how it works.

1) The dragon will always drop either gold or a random item. Random item can be whatever, but usually a common.

2) Then, there's the small possibility it drops a dragon item afterwards. If this doesn't trigger, then nothing is dropped, and you only get the gold/random from #1

edit: If you get *nothing* at all after defeating the dragon, then I'd consider it a bug.

Just saw your post, Wavebend. Yes, some of us are getting nothing at times. I wish bioware would state if that's the intent. If so, that's their call and that's fine, I just think people should know before they use up their mats.

Damn. Then I really have no words. I hope that's not their intent either!

I'd recommend only fighting the perilous dragon then... that's what I'd do, personally

edit: And yeah, don't get me wrong, I understand that you want to fight the dragon on other difficulties as well!

I personally spent one Dragonfight lost in the void* and not another because: 1.Had no time, 2.It felt like a flop so I'd to do something else to get over, 3. Too stressful to stress myself further with what I've read here so far.

I'll complain as much as I want, you said nothing to convince me this was a good decision on BW's part.

Seriously, what a waste of time and effort on the players' part.

I had no idea it dropped *nothing* at all. Sorry. If your complaint is about the low drop rate of dragon weapons, then I'd say it's a great move on their part. It's still much higher than beta, but low enough that it is rewarding.

* that looks just as fun as our time in beta: http://imgur.com/a/gSFcj

^Hey, at least your AW had company. I was alone and forgotten until Zither appeared near a floating font and the Dragon, now invisible, could roast him alive.  :D

Nah, it's called quality of life brah.

And the mats required to fight a dragon and time is not equal to the pay out.

Obviously you have invested too much time in this game with the amount of promotions you have done, but this grind/rng fest is exactly what has turned people away from the game in the first place.

If they insist to keep the RNG element to loot drops, then the dragon shouldn't be behind a Mat/Paywall.

Obviously the pay out is worth it for everyone else that isn't you.

Video? Screenshot your before and after gold & inventory at least. I've never gotten 'nothing', just usually salvage fodder (or gold). The item may not show up on screen at the victory pose, but post victory rewards screen always shows something occurring. If you're getting absolutely nothing, with proof, then that's a bug.

Also what platform do you play and what difficulty?

You might not be complaining about mats because of the 255 glitch other people are mentioning, where maxed out mats aren't being deducted.

On average, how long is it taking you to do the Perilous dragon run with your OP character? Mustn't require any skill at all.

I think it was a bad choice to allow most dragon kills to reward you with nothing. It would have been better if every completion gets a drop but the odds of getting the dragon items were lower. Same result, but you don't rankle the player. After all, the map is more of a time investment than the others. You kill the dragon and thats it, not even the illusion that you might get something.

Its possible you always get at least gold, but there is no notification of it so it is indistinguishable from the gold you get for completion anyway.
