Got a nice little dagger from a threatening dragon. 89 dam, 229 dps, 9% crit damage bonus, 4% heal on kill. Not much use for me but someone with not-so-good gear might put it to good use. Fighting the dragon on threatening is pointless IF you already have level 20+ gear, for newer players or filthy casuals it's not.

edit. pointless gear-wise, it's still good fun. I never call the dragon on threatening but secretly hope someone else in the party would.

You can't really pug it and expect to get these items anytime soon (too few players).  Basically, you need friends or else you're screwed.

That's your incentive to make friends.

Just finished my third perilous dragon. I was lucky to be blessed by purple Maul of the Dragon, item lvl 24, 322DPS (319 base damage), +18% Damage, +9% Crit Chance and +11% HoK...

I agree the mat cost is high. I think that killing the dragon should at least net 1200 gold to get a large chest to help replenish all of the burned mats. Perhaps this was a way to keep people from running castle dragon runs exclusively.

On an related note. Why does everyone expect to get the BiS dragon gear a couple days from launch.

I can understand the frustration with nothing droppingb if that is a bug but the whole point is to give you something to go after, not be a loot Pinata.

Dragon loot is shown to you at the end screen just like treasure room loot. So don't be silly, Bow of the Dragon is an item that comes from the dragon, so you definitely did get dragon loot.

I got nothing off all my runs yesterday, got a purple out of a chest but it was one of those stupid level 10 2handers that I have picked up 20 times in the last few days

Probably... But I remain "silly" ... Got nothing out of my other Dragon fights

Join the club, you wouldn't believe how fast our membership is rising. We need this tavern people suggested in other threads so we can drink our dragon problems away.

Yeah, the frustration is with zero loot drops, NOT that dragon loot is not dropping. I'm 2 out of 4 for receiving anything on successful dragon kills and oddly enough, they were blue dragon weapons, a dagger and staff. That's only supposed to be about one out of ten odds? That's not the problem, it's when you don't even get a dirk......no loot whatsoever. I have no problem with having to work for the good stuff, but if dead dragons aren't giving loot and gold at all..............meh.

Killed at least 40 now.

2 Longswords and a Shield.

My party members seem to be hitting the jackpot though. Lucky punkers.

I actually think the drop rate is ok, 1/10 = 2.5 dragon calls per person for a legendary each; main problem is that people can get major screwed by RNG with this, and that the loot you get when it's not a legendary just feels disappointing, so I definitely feel some tinkering is needed.

Currently have unlocked the other two characters and got the purple shield and bow from perilous in about 11 perilous runs.

For those new people wanting to run perilous dragon grab yourself a AW; I can solo dragon with a 20 blue staff no problems, just takes forever to kill the damn thing because the armor gets recast, gives all the dead people something to watch for 10 mins though

Drop rate is good for perilous, for me anyway. But it really isn't worth doing on threatening, except for the novelty. I still get no drops on perilous (3 out of 10 runs had nothing) but if you do it more than a handful of times you will get some dragon loot eventually. 3/10 dragon items for me on perilous last night as opposed to one common item out of 8 runs on threatening with the rest being no drops.

It does open up a huge gap between people who know enough players to do perilous runs versus those pugging on threatening. If you are on the threshold between threatening and perilous, you basically need to luck out by randomly dropping into a pug with three perilous competent players.

I think it's great you don't have to Bang a Gong until wave 3. It really lets you get a feel for the groups abilities before you commit. You get some gems like a keeper saying In the Heat of the Moment that they don't spec barrier as a skill or other things that make you say to yourself, "I wanna be sedated." Then you have the Virtuoso who you wonder what is going on behind the crooked cross of their eyes as they make no effort to twist songs into any semblance of an unchained melody and run to the hills by themselves on some sort of painful power solo. If the group is solid, running good routes or at least listening to those with more experience, then the pug can be very enjoyable and enemy corpses get stacked up like another brick in the wall.

That being said, I've received a blue Isabela card from the threatening dragon. I only do perilous pugs now as she is just too sick at 20 and geared righteously. I love, love, love this map.

I agree that if you don't get items, you should at least get a decent amount of gold for beating a dragon. Even if you got 1200, that's nowhere near enough to get all of the materials for another Dragon's call though. That might actually be my main concern here; they're either too expensive material-wise or you don't get enough of a reward for beating the dragon, depending on how you look at it.

I would argue that the gamble of using the Dragon's Call should be that if you don't beat the dragon, you've wasted materials. That's fine. I don't think that if you do beat the dragon, you should still have wasted materials though, otherwise you're just extending the game for almost no reason. As it stands, I've crafted 2 Dragon's Calls and have no incentive to craft any more.

I'm fine with it. I actually think it's scaled well - on a routine dragon run I got a common-level dragon bow, and on a bunch of threatenings last night I got a rare-level dragon bow and dagger.

Sometimes just money (which should be increased I think, the payout is as much as a chest), sometimes an item, sometimes both money and item, and once I got two items.

Has anyone broken down a dragon item yet?  I would be curious to see what sort/amount of materials you get from doing so.  If I manage to get a duplicate, I will report back.

Probably regular tier 3 mats. If there were epic dragon mats, BW would've made a big deal promoting them.

It wouldn't be the first time they have left it up to the community to find out a portion of their game.  I am not expecting anything different in all honesty, but it would be interesting to see if it yielded a higher number of mats.
