I guess I expected a little much to be carried over from the old game, never did I imagine a compete rehaul. Among the things changed:

-Leveling Up
-Mako Missions
-Customizing Weapons and Armor with powerups (Rounds, etc)
-Grenades
-Medgel
-Weapon Cooldown instead of Ammo
-In Depth Skills and Character Types
-Buying weapons and upgrades
-Waypoints
-Better Map

These are only some of the main things..  Many of the above I greatly enjoyed and looked forward too, especially the Mako missions. I just don't understand how many of these things were completely removed instead of being fixed. The skill trees have been simplified, quite literally, everything has been simplified. The first game was, in my opinion, a perfect balance between rpg and fps. Mass Effect 2 seems more like its a focus on combat with a few rpg elements thrown in there. I'm enjoying ME2 so far but not as much as I had hoped. It's a fun experiance but its leaving me a bit hollow and wanting more inside...

I didn't realize you couldn't buy things from merchants...that is a real downer. So far I'm loving it but I'm only on Omega Station.

One thing I REALLY miss from ME is the map. Most places I go, the map isn't usable and if it is, I haven't found any way to set a way point on where I need to go.

Thanks for reminding me, the maps so small I can't tell where I am or where I need to go usually.

I didn't think maps were something people we crying to get changed either.

I definitely miss weapon cooldown and ammo/ weapon upgrades... i'd rather have infinite ammo for my 2x scram rail and high explosive sniper with ~4 seconds of cooldown, than the same 4 seconds between shots while un-upgraded and only have 10 of em (so far at least). i didnt really like the mako that much (it was rather wonky to drive), but now that its gone i sorta miss it

I rather miss the Mako actually, it had a massive hate/love relationship but I had no problem with it.

For me, I miss equipping armor on my teammates, and the much greater variety of Talents available in ME1.

I miss the Mako, a bit.

I miss having too much cash. >.>

I'm going to miss the old 50-yards of doom shotgun.

your actually not missing that many talents, think about it. Most of the talent gone from ME2 are armor/weapon talents. Everything is just more streamlined.

It's not streamlined... it's dumbed down. There is no other way to see it when you throw away so many talents, restrict levelling up to post mission, limit inventory management by basically removing it...

What really doesn't make sense is that they threw out the MAKO only to replace it with a horrendous joke known as scanning.

I disagree with those two.

The skills in the first game were rather still simplistic, and had less dramatic impact on gameplay.  Each class is a little more unique now.   I think the new classes are a significant improvement.

The rest that you mention, I'm still thinking about.  Overall I'd say I found the experience a lot more fulfilling than you do.

I miss having the same amount of ammo for each gun. (If we're using universally compatible heatsinks, can't I use them ALL with my AR?)

I REALLY miss leveling up

I always loved seeing points on my screen as i decimated my foes lol, now leveling up is really simple and slow.

I also miss the mako . . . poor mako, i loved running geth over with it and then hitting the boosters on top of them and doing hilarious flips in the mako lol

as far as how everything else in ME2 is, I really like it.
