I'm 100% serious. She was the daugther of a raider operating in the Storm Coast who was also a bann.
She was extremely skilled and sunk her first Orlesian warship at age 15.

During the rebellion, her ship was used to transport Bryce's troops and they fell in love.

Could the Couslands be any more amazing?

That's really cool. I'm glad to have more info about my canon Warden's mother.
Thanks :).

All the possibilities with Isabela and Cousland and Kieran. It's too much.

Ahem.

Pirates for the winning side are called privateers.

I love my Warden's family they are beyond amazing, but seriously they have to do something for the Cousland they are too perfect in an irritable way, not a single shadow and now that i can comprehend the background of my Warden's family even better, The Inquisitor and Hawke will for certain be never a challenge in my heart for my Warden Prince.
thanks for this

Technically given that she was operating for the Crown of Ferelden, she'd be more akin to a privateer.

Indeed. I´ve played AC: Black flag and in it I learned the difference between a pirate and a privateer.

Pirates are pretty much people who attack and rob any ships they encounter for their personal gain and profit.

Privateers are like pirates but they attack only certain targets and do so with the blessing of their monarch or someone similar.

For that alone I would suggest change the thread title. I mean, anyone who reads it will think she was an criminal while in fact what she did was fight in the war against Orlais.

I looked up DA Wiki and saw that the word used is "raider". Still, it sounds better than pirate/privateer. Strangely enough, is a privateer even allowed the ruling title "Bann"? Does the monarchy even condone such acts? I guess there are exceptions during a war. I assumed it's part of his name and not the title. For appearance I guess. Something like a ring name for wrestlers.

Duh. Do you even know what a priveteer is

In fact, why don't you stop being lazy and look it up? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privateer

No, but she is a Ferelden wallflower.

Became a so-called "badass" *snort* privateer off daddy's training and daddy's ship and crew (I'll bet she didn't make a single raid without at least fifty big strong men hired by her father to keep her safe, and she wouldn't have gotten their loyalty unless Daddy had paid them to. If she had to actually go out and get her own crew and earn loyalty from strangers like Isabela, a REAL pirate-queen had, she woulda been sunk), then as soon as some hunky guy looked at her sideways she faded into the background of her new hubby's castle and became a wallflower at Castle Cousland.

I'm just going to brush off your buffoonery here and YES, I know what privateer means. Do you want me to list its similar counterparts as well? There's corsairs and raiders too. Think this through. In ME2, the Alliance also have their own privateers like Jacob said and even though they are supposed to hit the mercs for them, the Alliance still wants to maintain minimal contact with them in case the corsairs did something that could tarnish their image.

But giving a ruling title to a raider? I'll let you figure out the consequences. Same thing why Rivain don't bestow a title equivalent to that of a bann to your "oh-so-REAL pirate queen" Isabela.

Pfft. All these coming from your imaginations? Think what you like. Eleanor's actions during the attack on Castle Cousland said otherwise. She stood up to Bryce in the beginning and both of them didn't get along. How's that a wallflower? Also, having big hunky men to protect you means nothing if you don't know how to lead them. At worse, they are cannon fodder and Eleanor wouldn't even have lasted until the events of DAO. You think men who follow a REAL pirate have unwavering loyalty? The moment you're out of booty and you're gone, dude. How does that and the assumed "hired bodyguards" of Eleanor's any different?

Tsk, tsk. Comparing Eleanor to Isabela now, are we eh?

Eleanor is a raider/privateer and not a pirate. These two are different. If you can't tell the difference, please don't be lazy and look it up. Thanks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracy

I've said my piece. Go plunder some other thread, Captain Hook.

This is crap.

Part of this would throw my own main character's origin story into conflict!

This implies that Eleanor did not even marry Bryce until after the rebellion had ended and Maric was coroneted in 9:3. This means even Fergus is 26 at most, and figure the human noble is 25 at most by the time Origins starts. But more likely the human noble is about 19 or so based on how Fergus talks to him/her.

My human noble was 30 at the beginning of Origins!

If WoT were true, it would make the human noble much younger than Anora. In which case their match would not be good one.

There are some other plot holes in this new story as well regarding Denerim, Highever, Bryce, and his father.

BioWare should retract this story and name in non-canon.

Though Eleanor being a ship commander is okay.

No it doesn't. WoT flies in the face of the pre-established lore. WoT has been wrong on multiple counts in the past, and volume 2 is no different.
