It's all about priorities for me. I don't have the time to spend hours on end reading pages upon pages of irrelevant things. So, I'm sticking to those I prioritize. Right at the moment, my priorities lie with attempting to make my game playable and keeping my blood pressure low. There have been times that I've spent days in here, but that was a luxury. 

 

Just to be clear on something: I don't grudge other people doing what they think they must. I just don't. As simple as that. 

Fair enough and I understand about real life stuffs.  There have been times I've backed off of the forums all together because keeping stress levels down started to become a challenge.  If I find myself taking the game too seriously, or if there is much bigger priorities in my personal life, I know it's time for a break.  

 

Oh, I could tell.  I've read several of your posts and I know you're not like that.

I saw it as an opportunity to break out of my comfort zone and play a male character.  It depends upon whether or not I want to play Auron (yes, named after the FF character) for the Dorian romance first, or continue my elf for the Solas romance.  I don't have the DLC yet, and I was going to pick it up after patch 7 came out, but then I found that my latest video driver was in beta.  So for the sake of my own sanity, I'm going to wait for the driver to go fully live.  I've had enough stability issues with DA:I before, so I'm cautious about jumping back in just yet.  Once the driver comes out, I'll join in on praising and/or criticizing the DLC.  

 

 

Since closed beta and into Pandaria 

I was off and on from about Feb of 2005 until (according to my profile) October of 2013.  I took some breaks here and there.  My parents were both serious raiders back in the day.  My folks were a part of a guild that was the 5% of the playerbase that actually did Sunwell when the content was current.  Fastforward years later and I'm solo'ing the place on my level 90 mage for transmog gear.  Good times.

You gotta admit, it adds to replay value.  I rarely play male characters, mainly because I have trouble creating one that I like.  I know it sounds shallow, but if I'm going to stare at any player character for 70+ hours of gameplay, I'd like it to be someone I consider good looking.  I hadn't seen a LI in a BioWare game that made me inclined to roll a gay character, but Dorian did it.   It's just a matter of trying that or getting my elf's heart crushed first.  I'm still deciding between the two.     Cass is on my list too.

I'm in almost the same predicament.. I played through with a male character once, never finished though, but I only did it for Cassandra. It's more of a voice actor issue for me though, so I little different I suppose.

But even without voice actors, I find it hard to play a male character, perhaps because my idea of male attractiveness doesn't fit societal norms and thus I have limited options. Most games that I've played only allow you to customise the face, so the body is more or less set in appearance and I don't like the set male physique.

Loghain is the best DA character and he ain't no woman! Though, yeah, I think there were way too many women to men ratio in this. It seems Thedas really hates men in charge of anything.
