This. And I am thankful that Bioware does not fall into this trap.

Personally I think the person who thought up that LGBT romance inclusion is to satisfy straight people's curiosity is a sick person and should he lobotomized. Mind, I'm straight, but you have to be a mean bean to think like that.

If I say "I like daffodils", that doesn't mean that I expect daffodils to grow just for my amusement. The next person coming along may enjoy the daffodils too. Hell, s/he may enjoy them even more, because s/he's a daffodil fetishist. Good for him/her!

Terodil, the problem was the OP claimed that women (not her) but women wanted "hot male on male action". Which is the objection Char is raising, if I'm reading right.

You... want Bioware to cater more to female fans, by including more male characters? Isn't the balance already fine?

In the words of Shepard, "I don't see... I'm not sure how to..."

Thanks for clarifying, but I personally don't see this in the OP. The only passage referring to this is:

It was more a nagging sensation at the back of my mind. Where were all the cool male NPC's? Where was the guy-on-guy-action? Where was the dlc-story-character written to entertain ME - a female gamer?

(Emphasis by me.) To me that doesn't read like a generalist statement about what all women want. It reads like a statement about what one particular player wants, who also happens to be a woman and who thinks that that may have something to do with her feelings of disappointment.

Understood, but it comes from this part of the OP.

"So this "letter to Bioware" is mostly to make you remember that we're a growing crowd - us female players. And we want to meet cool male characters, not fools like Alistar, we want dazzling emperors, swashbuckling pirates, courageous wizards and they should be young and good-looking thank you. I tried to remove Celene. No luck. I tried to find male NPC-mages to join my army - no luck.

I don't believe the modern gamer-guy has so low self-esteem, that you deliberately take out cool male NPC's.

Or do you?"

This implies, to me at least, she thinks her wants reflect the entirety of female gamers.

I think the OP it troll though since she has only made two posts and not even one reply in this thread. Usually people reply in their threads and further explain their points so maybe OP is just sitting back and eating some popcorn ^^; I might be wrong though.

Even if OP is serious the thing is that she should talk about what she likes not claim all female gamers don't like female characters (which is not truth, lot of female characters are very loved within female gamers with some characters maybe even more than within male gamers) and inclusion of things she would want in the game takes things away in others in my opinion. For example lessening amount of female characters wouldn't make many people happier with their game.

At least if OP is into trollism, we'll be getting a bit of variety on the forums again in regards to troll threads rather than the attempts to provoke with the "All the love interests look like men in DAI"-shtick which has gotten very stale and kind of boring in itself.

True this is like spin-off.

Though there is no pictures and graphs :(

I'm a woman and am already sick to my stomach with the insistence on this representation thing.

I just came back after a year or so. This was really a thing? Seriously.

And Panda... charts and graphs? Tell me this is hyperbole. Please.

I don't really care about the ratio. As long as the character is well written, and is his\her own character, I am more than satisfied.

It's bit hyperbole, but let's just say that there has been lot of pictures.. and photoshop used to prove scientifically how Cass and Josie look like men :P

And Cassandra was then photoshopped to, what some thought, look like a character who escaped from an old "Conan the Barbarian" film or some male rock star depending on who you asked.

It was fun, weird and semi-interesting to see the discussions that sometimes grew out of it but the trollistic versions of the valid "There is no conventional fantasy beauty romance option in DAI"-threads have pretty much run stale so we just use the threads to do whatever we want until the mods close it down since they are going to do that anyway because of how the opening post is written and argued. Personally, I like to share facts from around the world.

It's a sort of recycling basically.

Meh, devs are in a lose/lose situation in the modern gaming climate. They add a ton of male companions and npcs and people complain that there's a lack of female representation in the game. They add lots of female companions and people accuse them of "pandering" to the male gaze. Nobody can seem to come to an agreement on where the right balance between the two is.

Believe this though, Bioware are painfully aware that they have a large female audience. It's no coincidence that almost all characters in a position of power are female, or that the female companions and LIs are decidedly non sexualised.

I agree with the people in power mostly women you would think this would at least quell the notion that Bioware isn't aware of their female audience.

I'm a woman and after playing so many games growing up where I'm forced into the role of a guy rescuing a Princess/Love Interest, I'm just grateful to play a female and romance a guy for once!

Just so you know though, I respect your post OP and admire you for making it too despite the possibility of people taking it as a joke or being insulted.

I'm not sure I should buy it or not. I remember BSN from the DA 2 days... I think I saw charts and graphs then too.

As for Cass and Josie... look like men? Huh? Cass looks much like her DA 2 appearance just higher resolution and... Okay, not going to rant, just going to give a tl; dr: oy vey!

Facts from around the world, huh? Sounds like fun.

The head of the original Inquisition: Male

The head of the new Inquisition = Male or female

Commander of the Inquisition forces: Male

The head of the Mages: Female

The head of the Templars: Male

The head of the Red Templars: Male

The head of the Venatori: Male Darkspawn

Orlais Empire: Male or Female

The head of the Seekers: Originally a man, now Female

The head of the Weisshaupt Wardens: Male

Two points to fix here

Calpernia still leads the Venatori forces, without her influence they would not have followed Corypheus. She and Alexius are even able to talk Fiona into fighting you, you kill Fiona at Haven if you chose to side with the Templars.

We don't deal with Weisshaupt in DA:I they only get a passing mention, the leader of the Wardens that appears in DA:I is Warden-Commander Clarel de Chanson. She's a female mage, no matter how you look at her.

Those hips don't lie, Panda, they're woman all the way down. :P

If anything there are far too many men with effeminate features in the casting list this time. Dorian and Cole both seem to have falling into the habit of snorting estrogen based on the physical attributes they share, and all male protagonist elves have tatas that they can't get rid of.
