Those hips don't lie, Panda, they're woman all the way down. :P

If anything there are far too many men with effeminate features in the casting list this time. Dorian and Cole both seem to have falling into the habit of snorting estrogen based on the physical attributes they share, and all male protagonist elves have tatas that they can't get rid of.

I find DAI men too masculine for me though like Blackwall and Bull :P I'd like more options like Zev and Dorian, but each for themselves :)

I don't really care about the ratio. As long as the character is well written, and is his\her own character, I am more than satisfied.

Yeah, this pretty much sums it up. The ratio of characters matters less than the story and the writing behind them. Sometimes that will mean more male, sometimes more female, and other times it can be equal. BioWare should continue doing things that way and not try to hit all of the check boxes on a list of "appease everyone" because that will swiftly be followed with "and fail trying."

Story's where it's at, yo. Male, female, or otherwise.

Huh. I thought we weren't allowed to make statements like these? Do I need to break out all those gifs and jpgs to make fun of this?

Almost every town had its' lesbians, so I was wondering were all the gay guys went (aside from Dorian.).

Where are all these "towns" you speak of?

I'm not really sure why 50/50 splits aren't used for like every other game.. seems like a clear enough solution.

every single character I met on my travels was female, with very, very few exceptions that were then either weak, bumbling fools, crazy villanous mages, or old and ugly.

Unfortunately I think a lot of fans/developers like them that way.

I'm not really sure how you can say this considering that's exactly what they did.

I really think visual novels with their pretty boys and possible guy-on-guy action are better bet for OP than fantasy games especially if BW's take with DAI felt to her that it lacked content for female players.

If that is your (the general you) thing as a straight female, I don't know how you could possibly go wrong with Dorian or Bull. Unless you just really want a blondie Cullen/Alistair type to pair up with your guy Inquisitor. I don't really get that vibe from the OP.

o_O I find this to be bizarre. I don't find Dorian to be effeminate at all. I mean, have you seen the man naked? And that gorgeous nose of his... /swoon.

Innocents, avert thy eyes. (Seriously, if you are under 18, my conscience doesn't want the burden of your corruption. But if you are over 18, you can vote in the USA so...meh, just don't blame your 'hairy palms' on me. )

Bioware, here be some market research for you.

The last time I read an article (yes I realize you linked an entire book) about something similar I was really disappointed to see that the straight female interest in m/m relationships was completely ignored, and only focused on hetero stuff. This was an article focusing on the popularity of fanfic among women, which to my mind misses a huge chunk of content that many straight women enjoy and also doesn't play into the "living vicariously through the female character" argument.

And uh... sorry for the digression into that.

And dislocated limbs...

Thanks to the superfluous amounts of forum posts, we all should be aware of the plight of male elves suffering from the life destroying Vegeta Arm Syndrome.

Even Solas. In VR when talking to Fiona he seems to loose his limbs as they meld into him boneless and rubbery.

How could Bioware not be aware that they have a female audience? Don't females have the most in this game? And aren't females technically the most influential? (Positions of power and all that jazz)

OP, don't talk on my behalf. I'm perfectly capable in speaking for myself. And problems you found in DAI are no problems in my eyes. If you really have to complain and have your 15 min of forum importance, at least find something real to complain about because trust me, this game has plenty to choose from.

If you want to?

Though I don't see how we are not allowed to have personal preferences on what it comes to LI's, likely everyone has them.

My guess is that OP wants to play female Inquisitor while seeing more gay couples in the game.

Seems like we all choose to play a game for our personal enjoyment. I chose DA:O for the story and concepts and there be Dragons!  I had no expectations of romance, straight or otherwise and accepted the game "as is" = past RPG games from Bioware.

The introduction of romances seems to have generated the idea of player entitlements. An odd notion to be sure but there it is.  Unfortunately, the player community is quite varied. Unfortunately, in the sense that "social media" and the "internet" gives the gamers the ability to voice their concerns and  wants. These expectations, whether generated by marketing or game review sites puts the game studio in an impossible situation. Impossible here = cannot meet everyone's wants.

How many, here, read a fantasy or romance novel then login to the author's website to complain the story lacked a certain romance option or that a character was not developed enough? Would it make sense to do so? More than likely you simple accept the story as written by the author with a comment like " good story", " naah, did nothing for me", "hmm, yeah.. so so".. and either buy more of the author's books or move on.

Game romances seem to generate quite a personal reaction and entitlement for some reason.

I see that and I raise you 80, two shims with 24 waistline, and a trans with mommy issues.

[Speaking of seriousness. If you want honey-picture-pretty heroes, the new FF is around the corner, all hail Square Enix.]

You mean this boy band for girls to drool.

Spoiler

Hm. Is it wrong for me as a straight male person to actually... feel... euh...

Want in my game.

Also given the goings-on in this thread I will point out that I have no monopoly on liking these dudes and that

- (other) straight males
- straight females
- gay males
- gay females
- bi females
- bi males
- trans males who still love men (and/or women)
- trans females who also love men (and/or women)
- asexual males or females
- pansexual males or females
- people of undetermined sex and/or gender

are, of course, free and even encouraged to like them. Cool dudes for everybody!

(I profusely apologise if I failed to represent anybody in my list.)

P.S. Edit: Now I also want such a cast of "bad" girls please.

I swear, gaming is on a crusade to eliminate honest-to-god cities from the industry.
