... and I get disconnected from the Dragon Age servers last night (not due to my ISP, router or modem screwing up. The DA servers straight up crapped all over my perilous dragon run) while being the last man standing, and it quickly became obvious I was going to be able to take it down. So...where's the protection against this unfairness? Where's my Dragon Staff, or at the very least, where's my Dragon's Call so I can make another attempt at a perilous high dragon? Crafting a Dragon's Call takes too many resources for this sort of thing to be acceptable.

How about we make the Dragon's Call only consumed upon defeating the dragon (or perhaps also upon a party wipe, though then there would be no protection against ISP's dropping connection and causing parties to lose party members, making a wipe that much more likely). I know it's meant to be a risk/reward scenario with taking on dragons in MP; but being cheated out of time, effort, and materials is even worse than there being no risk of losing a significant amount of crafting materials in the Dragon's Call when it's completely out of the player's control.

Nobody cares that it's possible to get screwed out of twenty five crafting materials? Well, ****, lol.

the very first time I used a dragon call I crashed to the dashboard as I hit the gong.  It didn't really bother me at this point.  I just reloaded and fought the next dragon to acquire some nice loot.  I have accepted it as a part of the game now.

In agreement with you OP.  I think this is something BW needs to look at tweaking.  Let's see how it goes.

I know I will have to as well, and that this issue likely isn't going to be fixed; the devs prefer unfair (though unintentional) punishment over things being too easy or easily earned (at least it seems that way, based on my time with ME3 MP). Still, knowing that I was going to take out a dragon on perilous (it was my first perilous dragon run too), only to get screwed in the end, really left a bitter taste in my mouth. Twenty five crafting mats...that's a lot of items that need to be broken down to get that amount, particularly cloth.
