I've done every SMG at least once
With SMG mastery done 5 times the GPSMG is the only one I've actually done 5 times
I'm still sane (sort of) and I've done the 200k one 3 times
Even when I am using it to get the challenge points done I say to myself, It's either this or go for a 2nd completion with the Shuriken.
I use the Hurricane sparingly. If the GPSMG needs a kit (eg: MM) that alters RoF to make it shine then it is crappy or you just like going hipster. There's some weapons that have a novelty value and this one fits squarely in that category.GPSMG is not crappy. It's more like 'hurricane is stupidly OP'.

I'd take the Tempest or CSMG over either of the above any day unless I wanted to A ) lolsteamroll or B ) remind myself of why I prefer the Tempest and CSMG (or even a pile of rocks to throw) to the GPSMG.
I disagree. That doesn't make it crappy. GPSMG actually does a pretty decent job in the hands of HSol, TSol, etc. There are several guns that perform awfully even with MM kits. Those are the real crappy ones.

Edit: The hurricane comment I made had more to it than just a GPSMG vs. hurricane comparison. It's just that we have so many OP guns that when we go back to some of the lower tier ones, they end up feeling meh.

Doesn't mean it's good, either. Like I said - it has novelty value and that I get. You want to add some intrinsic reason to use it in your game. But, IMO, it is near the top of the list in sub-par weapons. Of which there are far too many in this game.

I agree, and that's why I never said that. 
I used words like 'not that bad', 'pretty decent' and 'not crap'.
I know it's not a good weapon (I expect a bit more from a rare gun), but it's not crap either. That was my point - GPSMG is not crap.
As for the sub-par weapons, I feel that there are only a few of them. But that's just me. I feel that we have so many OP guns like talon, arc pistol, harrier, hurricane, wraith that make decent weapons look bad.
I almost never use the CSMG unless as a sidearm for another weapon. I get firing glitches with the CSMG far more often than I'd like and it can completely ruin a game. Tempest is absolutely preferable.
Sometimes I put the GPSMG on my Juggernaut for the lolz. It's not as terrible as I thought it'd be, especially with AP rounds.
Its actually not too bad on the TSol (what isn't)--a hand-held minigun. Try TSab or QFE. Incendiary ammo. Do a solo and get through the challenge faster. Grit your teeth and go to work!

What about Geth Heavy Bum Pistol?
2-3 gold games, marksman kit. I don't find it boring, I've done the 200k points with this gun 7 times.
The answer is GI, w/ ext. barrel/scope and AP IV, use it as a poor man's sniper. You'll need weak teammates to reach 200k though.
Hmm. TSol, Ap IV rounds, bad PUGs, vs Reapers. Easy 250-280k in one match.

It runs out of ammo so fast I thought I was using a harrier
