Right...1lvl and perilous. I never believe this bullsh*t. I've seen many people playing perilous...on lvl20 only.

I see level 20 Arcane Warriors in Routine...

It's obvious bioware cares about how people play damp, and with the AW nerf as well as this (I wouldn't call this intentional on their part) it's enough to drive players that don't give a darn about how they play or promote but the ones actually enjoy playing the game will stay. I know a few players on xbone who did exploit the promotion system. We are talking top 10's in points, and they have slowed down a lot in accruing prestige. It's one of the main reasons why some were avg about 20-30 promotions a day. Even, if you speed run through perilous and bypass pots, treasure doors, strictly mage groups, it would still take you considerably longer barring you compete every run without the exploit.

Imo, if there is a leader board for damp, than there indeed should be a standard to how your promotion points should be acquired. Bioware obviously had no intention of parties bypassing the whole process of leveling up their character to 20, than drop out and bring a fresh lvl 1 only to have the benefits transferred over to it definitely sounds like an exploit. It's not actually clever or ingenious either and even with animation canceling your not jumping 19 lvls in a span of one zone extraction on perilous with it. A katari player post animation canceling will still have to grind lvl's to promotes, it doesn't even benefit mages that much but promotion exploiting absolutely benefits every single class, especialy leader board status and promotions.

The game is a grind, and honestly there should be more xp incentive/alternatives besides a slightly higher gold payout for players to play lower skill levels like threatening. Assassins and alchemists are the worse when it comes xp accrual and there should be a flanking/poison/stealth kill xp awarded, even single target priority kill xp would be nice for these classes due to their designs. The xp system which should be called mage support is far too linear and seems to benefit them the most rather than warriors and stealth rogues and that is a mistake.

Excellent points.  If you could do it, then by all means.  The ones overly bitter about it were the ones that couldn't take advantage of this themselves, as most people would set up private matches with friends.  Maybe they don't have enough friends to do it with, or maybe they weren't strong enough to do it on their own.  Who knows?  Either way, it's gone and they can stop being bitter. :P

Or maybe your too weak to lvl up on your own....

Do you know they are doing it successfully?

Or are you simply witnessing their attempt?

Virtuoso level 20 logged out with the Dragon half HP; logged back in with an Avvar level 1: from level 1 to 12 at the end.

No idea how he made it, tho.

I've never even used this exploit once, generally because every game I've played in is a pug.  I enjoy pugs however as the random team compositions (I usually accept any class at any level at any difficulty) and goals (exp or chest runs) break up the monotony of going through the same motions.

I've landed into a few matches where I've seen players take advantage of the exploit however, the lobby would start as public then private with experienced players.  I can appreciate why it occurred though as I've posted something else related over in reddit :

http://www.reddit.co...d_too_weak_for/

I calculated I spent a significant time doing something I didnt enjoy (playing routine) as a courtesy to access threatening.  If I had a choice between routine or regular work; I'd choose work.

Or maybe your too weak to lvl up on your own....

Or maybe my brother and I also deserve to level up other characters while we were carrying real life friends and family playing with us.  We've been running duo Assassin perilous runs ever since we had 20 cunning, 10 willpower, 10 constitution.  We got lucky with good daggers early on.  Do you have any idea how painstakingly careful we had to be all the time in order to complete a run with the stats we had and no HoK?  No you don't.  And you know what?  We failed more times than we succeeded.  It sometimes took us over an hour to get a successful extraction, and we enjoyed every minute.  And yes, we were using assassin, the very class you are bitching about for not getting enough XP compared to other classes.  Why did we use assassins?  Because those were the best geared characters we had.  We don't dictate what classes our friends should play based on party usefulness.  We let them play whatever characters they enjoy, because we are here to have fun after all.  We had to keep our assassins at level 20 all the time in order to pull this off with what little stats we had.  That meant no stats increase for us for a very long time.  Our friends couldn't carry us in return.  So when someone showed us how to do it without losing out on XP and promotions, we grabbed the opportunity.

My brother isn't on the leader boards despite the many hours we spent carrying friends and completing challenges.  I made it a little over a month ago.  I don't know where you pulled the 20-30 promotions a day statement but it takes me roughly 3 hours to get from 1-20 even with friends carrying me, and vice versa.  I did challenges like crazy on my own and I still have a bunch of agent challenges to complete.  I damn well earned the stats I have now and whatever place I'm at on the leader boards.  You're exactly the type of bitter person I'm talking about.  Do you carry your friends?  Probably not the way we did.  Not even close.

I wouldn't say it's cheating, as leaderboards mean nothing other than you have more time to play. Perhaps if it was PvP in some regard I would use the term, or if being on the leaderboard gave you some type of bonus others didn't get. But it's laughable for someone to think they "earned" what they have using this exploit.

I hate promoting, being low level, if I reach level 20 with a build I think is great then I don't wanna relevel, sounds so mindnumbing

Wish they'd give you the stats when you gave enough experience to equate 20 levels, without having to relevel a character over and over

Still, I hear a lot of complaining and crying on your part, and you know darn well you have been exploiting the promotion system yet your making excuses to justify why you've been exploiting the system all up till now. It doesnt matter if you've been carrying pugs, it's nothing to brag about either, most of us do it daily, except you took major shortcuts on the way. Be proud of your stats, because none of us are.

Be proud of your stats, because none of us are.

Oh, you bet I am.  And I couldn't care less whether the very few insignificant people on this thread are proud of me or not.

DAMP is available on 5 different platforms so we can assume that there are around 500 different people across 5 separate leader boards, most of whom probably do not visit these forums, that also couldn't care less about what you think.  The fact that this reaction thread was created from a single piece of information given in the patch notes shows how butthurt certain people are.

I don't recall seeing a whine thread about the promotion exploit being removed anywhere, but I could be wrong.

Me?  I stumbled on this butthurt thread and so I'm just here to ****** you off.

The game has been out for nearly six months and this so-called "exploit" has probably been around since release.  You could say DAMP is still in its experimental phase even now with stuff being tweaked on a regular basis.

So this is a coop, last I checked, so your comment about me being too weak to level on my own wins you zero points.

4 random strangers meeting in someone's lobby for the first time with the same goals: earn money, earn XP, earn stats, earn gear, enjoy.  Rinse and repeat.  Then, after a few rounds, they call it quits.  They go their separate ways.  They meet again the next day.  And the next.  They eventually become friends.  And those friends have friends, too, so they become friends as well.  And so on...  You get where I'm going with this...  We, my DAMP buddies and I, have a very healthy friends list - so healthy that we can log in at almost any time of day and find people we can have some fun with.  While you call this game a grind, we're out there having fun.

There's a saying you will often find plastered on office walls "Work Smarter, Not Harder", and at some point someone showed us how to work smarter.  I don't ever recall reading a thread saying "Thou shalt not switch characters at the end of a match to level your other characters while carrying friends" by Bioware, and if there ever was one it should definitely have been stickied for everyone to read.

So for the past six months, everyone on every platform who worked smarter broke zero official rules set by Bioware.  None.  Except the rules created in the minds of the people bitterly watching the leader boards for god-knows-what reason.

Being on the leader boards is a by-product of successful team efforts.  Nobody gets there on their own.  One day, me and a lot of my gaming buddies just ended up there.  It was teamwork at its finest.  It was beautiful.  Too beautiful, in fact, that Bioware decided that some good things must come to an end and maybe let the bitter ones catch up a bit.

And so our jolly group of adventurers happily move on with our quest for epic dragon loot, slaughtering Frost, Storm, and Inferno Wyrms on perilous by the dozen each day.  It's glorious!

I shall now take my leave from this thread and wish you good fortune on your hunt for your own epic loot.  Try not to die. :)

I'm ranked number 17 on the leaderboards and never have I had to resort to promotion exploits or shortcuts, frankly I wouldn't mind if consoles had a leader board purge from bioware. If these players are so proudly boasting that they are exploiting a mistake that was unintentional by bioware, and it obviously was since they patched it out, than most of the legit players would have no problems with it. It's just about time put in or shortcuts, not how skillfull that player is, case in point:hanubken.

Just because your given an opportunity to cheat or exploit doesn't mean it is wise to do so.
I'd suggest bioware look into the bloated prestige points these people have accrued pre patch and take necessary steps to promote a healthy and fair multiplayer experience for the few who don't advantage of such things.

Priceless reactions.  Just exactly the kind of responses I wanted to elicit.

I stopped reading after this part. You have some anger issues guy.

It's called total indifference to your feelings.  There's a big difference between that and anger issues.

And they're publicly admitting they cheated on the forums RUN BY the company that runs the game, too.

I can't wait for Bioware to notice this thread.

Let's start with the definition of cheating.  http://www.merriam-w...tionary/cheat. Let me explain this once again in the simplest way I can think of.  Cheating does not exist in the absence of a law or rule clearly stating that you are forbidden to do something.  Let's take boxing as an example.  Boxers aren't allowed to use elbow blows against their opponents.  Violating this rule will result in a point deduction.  Repeated violations of this rule will result in disqualification from the match, and possibly a permanent ban from the sport.  Now let's go back to the world of DAMP.  Up until the release of Dragon Slayer, there was no rule that clearly stated character switching wasn't allowed from Bioware, the company that runs the game like you said.  There are no violations when there aren't laws to be violated.  Clear?

In the world we all live in rules change.  What was once considered unacceptable a century ago could very well be the norm today.  A decade ago a dude legally marrying another dude was unheard of and gay couples were often looked upon with disgust.  But things changed, and while society is torn between the old ways and the new, five years from now things will most likely have shifted in favor of the increasing majority who support gay marriage.

Now back to Bioware and the latest patch.  The notes revealed that character experience gained during a match will no longer be transferred to a lower level character.  Bioware still hasn't expressly forbidden the switching of characters, but nullified it by removing XP gain.  If players, now after this patch, once again find a way around this system and use it to their advantage even though Bioware is trying to prevent it from happening, then that would be cheating.  No rules/laws were violated prior to this patch.

I'd suggest bioware look into the bloated prestige points these people have accrued pre patch and take necessary steps to promote a healthy and fair multiplayer experience for the few who don't advantage of such things.

Now here's the part that I find most hilarious.  Never once did I mention my exact place on the leader boards.  You know why?  Because I don't care.  My buddies don't care either.  We ended up there without doing it on purpose.  Bioware could purge the leader board of all platforms and you'd never see me whine.  The leader board is meaningless.  It always has been and always will be unless Bioware decides introduce a competitive game mode.  Still it's nice to see your name plastered on there so I totally understand where you're coming from.  Leader boards in coop games like this one are indicators of how much of our lives we have wasted away playing.  You're rank 17.  Congratulations.  Does it matter?  Nope.  The people you are competing with in your head in this coop game aren't even trying to compete with you.  You know why?  Because coop.  :)

Gee, some of the same people who used the exploit are the same ones who whine about carrying pugs. You aren't super awesome good, you cheat. I'd lol so hard if bioware perma dropped all the cheaters stats. It would be glorious.

I know a lot of people were bitching about it when Bioware did it.  I wasn't one of them.  Life went on and we immediately proceeded to slaying dragons with our low stats.  It was fun :)
