I'm tired of the DAI coverage, where is the ME4 hype?

Call me impatient but everyone has their breaking point and I believe that I am almost at mine in terms of waiting for Bioware to officially roll out ME4 information. All throughout 2014 we waited patiently because we knew that Bioware wanted to have DAI in the forefront because it was releasing in November. So I assumed that after DAI's release, the hype train for ME4 would begin.....but that didn't happen because the post DAI launch hype continued with the release of Jaws of Hakkon DLC for DAI. So once again, I assumed that shortly after this, the ME4 hype train would begin....but that didn't happen because May 5th was the date when the highly anticipated Black Emporium v2.0 would release for DAI as well as the new Dragon Slayer multiplayer "expansion" that all just released.

So now we are about 6 months after the release of DAI and in that time span much of the attention from Bioware has been towards DAI with ZERO official information coming from Bioware other than ME4 will not be a copy & paste of DAI. For a game that is speculated to come out Spring 2016 (a year from now), this forum sure is dead in terms of solid information to talk about and had it not been for the leak, this place would be a ghost town.

It is speculated that Mass Effect 4 would have it's official red carpet unveiling at E3 this year, but to me that seems a bit too odd. E3 is June 16-18 which is about a month from now. Yes, ME4 could be unveiled there, but it would or could be somewhat muffled by all of the other big name announcements/gameplay trailers released at E3. I mean, at least a little tease here and there would be nice. It just seems weird that to this date, we have NO real solid gameplay screenshots or videos regarding ME4, just vague information. The Division, MGS: The Phantom Pain, No Man's Sky, and Zelda Wii U are all big ticket games that will probably release in 2016 and we have seen more of these games than what we have seen for ME4. Crackdown for the Xbox One is probably a 2016 release and we have at least seen a teaser trailer for that. I can probably go on further about 2016 release games that we either have gotten a lot of information about or have at least seen a teaser for such as Cyberpunk: 2077 which is probably a game that will be released in 2017 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided may be a 2016 release and we again, got a full trailer for that.

So that brings us back to ME4, which is assumed to be a 2016 release and to this point, the only thing Bioware has talked about has been Dragon Age: Inquisition and lord knows how much I loathe that game and cannot wait until it takes the backseat to more interesting Bioware titles such as ME4 and the unannounced new IP. The developers keeps going on twitter talking about how they are hitting these milestones and how great the game is looking/playing....but yet we dont see any of it. No, I am not expecting a 5 minute gameplay video or a 12 page cover article by Game Informer, but perhaps something solid besides vague twitter updates and the concept art released.  Only the leak has sparked new life in this forum and yet that information isn't even official and could be fake (as Revan Reborn highly wishes to be true).

Again, I knew E3 is a little over a month away, but is Bioware really going to make us hold out that long? Or do you think we might be getting a few solid teases (non-twitter) here and there leading into E3 with the bigger reveal?

I mean come on Bioware, give us something! I stopped playing DAI back in December when I first beat it and I do not believe I will be going back to that anytime soon as the main story is only like 5% of the game and I do not feel like pouring another 100+ hours into a fetch quest/offline MMO adventure with VERY limited cinematic conversations. DAI has been in the spotlight for the past 30 months, I think it is time to move on to where the real meat is at. It is almost as if because of The Witcher 3 about to release, Electronic Arts wants to keep DAI relevant in comparison to TW3. I mean, it is almost too convienent that this month has saw 3 major updates to DAI, one being that Jaws of Hakkon is now available on all platforms besides just PC/Xbox, second the Black Emporium released, and third the multiplayer expansion releases. Because of this, ME4 remains in the dark....

That is artificial hype created by us after the leak broke out. I am talking about official hype/marketing from Bioware/Electronic Arts.

Again, had it not been for that leak, this place would really be sad. I mean, it has been 6 months since DAI released and over 30 month of nearly exclusive DAI marketing focus by Bioware!

Also to add, the first ME3 related trailer came out December 2010 while the hype for DA2 was still going on and DA2 didn't release until March 2011. By the time DA2 released, the ME3 hype train had already started.

There was already a hype before the leaks.

Jos and others from Bioware share information about the progress to build up the hype.

Just be patient, next month is the E3 confrence.

And thats another point, EA/Bioware has not officially confirmed that ME4 would even have an appearance at E3. I am somewhat optimistic that it will be, but you never know.....they might want to reveal something new about DAI.  -_-  :?

Here is my opinion:  The developers are hard at work putting together the best bit of information for E3 2015.  With all of these "milestones," being accomplished, and all of these tweets -- I expect ME4 to blow everything out of the water (Pertaining to EA/BioWare).

We wont see anything before E3, and if we do, more than likely concept art with the possibility of a 30 sec to 1 minute teaser (similar to E3 2014).  Which I am okay with.

There's plenty of hype, but as N7Jamaican said we don't see anything until E3, so be patient.

I don't think DAI has or ever had too much to do with it. Instead it all depends on where the actual game is at. They simply haven't been ready to show anything so far. The leak we have heard about, assuming it's true, was from a marketing survey. They want to find out what parts sound the coolest so they know what to focus on when marketing it. So this is a vague hint that we will get something soon.

I think we all agree, BioWare needs to something of substance about the next Mass Effect game at E3.  If not, I would be very concerned, that all the dev's could do is be all talk.  It's time to "put up or shut up."

However, We all can wait the month till E3.  I am confident they will show us something and the majority of the fans would be happy. I am happy that they are even making a new ME game... I'm still waiting for a Jade Empire 2 (or reboot for Xbox One/PS4).  But my PC version will have to suffice.

It'll be there.

Trust me. After all, I'm the guy who has always told everyone it wouldn't be at past events, and it never was! Now I know it will be, so all must believe.

I'm reasonably certain we'll get something meaty at E3.

They already showed some bits and pieces last E3, along with a lot of stuff about Inquisition. If I remember correctly, the E3 before that, in 2013, they showed the Fires Above trailer, the first substantial official info about DAI.

Add to that the fact that the devs claim to have made significant progress and be more than halfway through development and it would just be weird (and worrying) if they didn't at the very least give us a teaser. Even a trailer seems more than possible.

I very much doubt NME is coming any later than early 2017, as a worst case scenario. Inquisition's out, and ME is BioWare's most popular series. It'll be there.

I'm okay with the lack of hype. I think it got a bit out of control with DA:I. Not even so much from Bioware but from fans who started to epitomize the phrase "Give them an inch and they'll take a mile." People just weren't very good at keeping their hopes and expectations in check and when they were let down, they got angry about it.

I do love a good trailer but I'm willing to wait for it.

If I had to guess, I'd say they aren't talking this early because people here held DAI's PAX demo against them when the game finally came out.

Its at least a year before the game will be released and there was barely anything released about Dragon Age: Inquisition until closer to launch.  Now there are going to be several factors, one being how everything BioWare said was being held against them with Mass Effect 3 and how people are lamenting about "how great Inquisition would have been if it was like that Gamescon demo".

Frankly I don't expect any real push for the next Mass Effect game until about six months or so before launch or if it will be a Fall 2016 release, after E3 2016.

I believe you believe. is that enough? Hard to spare any hype or optimism since I'm useing all that for Mad Max Fury Road and the Mad Max game due out later this year.

Waiting for a Mass Effect reveal at E3 is like waiting for Christmas - why would you want to spoil it ahead of time? I will say though If Fallout 4 is under that tree everyone else's presentation may as well be white noise this year in terms of likely press coverage.

Bah wait for a month or so. You still need to market the next game in your flagship franchize no? BSN ppl are impatient as ever. (and as a result get rushed products)

Like I said, before Dragon Age 2 was released in Spring 2011, the first teaser trailer for Mass Effect 3 was released in December 2010. So it isn't against the law to have one game in the chute to be released but yet still have a "tease" campaign for the next game in the chute. Now if ME4 was a game that is seen to be released in Fall 2017 or  possibly spring 2018, then yes, I can understand the lack of attention on ME4 and all of the attention being on DAI. But considering that DAI has already been out for 6 months and we are allegedly a year (or less if it comes out Jan-April of 2016) from release of ME4, why wouldn't a mini marketing campaign have already started.

I mean, we can look at this two ways:

#1 We just need to be patient because ME4 is still on track for a 2016 release and come next month, we will be blown away by the ME4 coverage and will have lots to talk about all the way leading up to the next major gaming event which would be Pax Prime in late August or possibly Comic Con before that in July. Hell, we might even be blown away by a ME Trilogy remastered edition that could be announced.

#2 Perhaps EA/Bioware doesn't plan on releasing the game until 2017 which means that we might have to endure more lame DAI coverage for a while until ME4 is ready to be officially revealed which could come as late as this fall when they reveal it at GamesCom like how ME1 was first revealed back in 2005. Perhaps we may still get a ME Trilogy remastered announcement, but in regards to ME4, it could have been "internally" delayed to a 2017 release, which means that E3 next month isn't all that critical because they would still have E3 2016 to roll out the big guns for ME4.

I want to believe in #1, but until we hear anything official from Bioware, #2 cannot be discarded either.

You can't compare ME3 to ME:Next. Times have changed. EA is spending a lot less money on marketing than in 2011/12 and early announcements have backfired lately. Long marketing campaigns cost a lot of money and might damage your game. You just can't sustain the hype for more than a year.
