Would anyone like to help me out with suggestions as how to build the Iron Bull so that he isn't a glass cannon?  He's seems made for two-handed, but I can never keep him alive.  I'm not very good at maximizing mechanics and builds, so I'm sure the problem is on my end.

Edit: I realize this may be in the wrong sub-category, but I'm still in the right ballpark.

Iron Bull is a two handed reaver best built. Many throw points into the vanguard tree for the guard generators and craft him gear with guard on hit masterworks.

There's 2 ways to play Iron Bull: Defensive Reaver (picking up defensive skills in Vanguard and mixing them with Reaver skills for better survivability) or to go all out DPS by going full Reaver + Two-Handed and Battlemaster.

For the first option, you would get almost everything in Vanguard so you would have 3-4 skills that generate Guard to go along with your Reaver DPS abilities. Personally I'd pick up War Cry, Charging Bull, Unbowed, and all of the passives that give you more armor/survivability, and use that along with your reaver skills.

For the second option, here's the build I'm currently using (Full DPS Reaver).

Whatever you end up doing, make sure to craft stuff with guard on hit, it REALLY helps Iron Bull survive considering how low his health will be from using reaver abilities. Also, the + Max Stamina amulet is really useful so you can use Ring of Pain and Devour more often.

i would with something like that if you aske me :

and i would still use fade-touched silverites on masterwork (at least on the armor)that give +5 Guard on Being Hit and maybe something like the material that give you +x% Damage by each ennemies around y meter or something (don't remember the name of it...), and of course you for a better increase you should use the highest-tier or it. or you could also go for +5 guard on hit (from fade-touched silverite too), but i don't know if it will work with abilities like devours or dragon rage.

this build seems to work pretty well on my nightmare playthrough with knight enchanter.
