It's a pseudo random system with an generated key IIRC.
Well of course it's pseudo-random, but what do you mean by key?

Seed state or key.
Or am I completely off on the current terminology?

Also, I personally would not blow 10 million in credits in the store if you don't get a UR drop in the first 3 or so 99k cr packs (which shouldn't matter which you pick with regard to UR drop). You can call that either superstition or trying to get a decent seed.
At 7.5% per gold slot, 2 independent solts, that's 15% or roughly one UR per 7 99k packs. It would be surprising if there were always a UR in the first 3, and surprising if there were no UR in the first 30.
But it can take a while for the distribution to even out. I've spent 10 million several times and have always gotten the expected 15 (+/- a couple) URs overall. But more than once I've gotten zero URs in the first 2 or 3 million. (Which is not surprising.)
The store isn't strictly random if you want to get right down to it. It's a pseudo random system with an generated key IIRC.
If you mean seed (because a key is something different), then there are many ways to generate one that introduces genuine randomness. Even hashing the Julian date and time with your CP and/or N7 would give a decently adequate range of seeds.
Sounds like an L2P issue
You are being failed by the intuitive (incorrect) perception of randomness. In short - no, there's nothing wrong with streaks, including unlocking the same weapon several times in a row. In fact, if there were no streaks - we'd know the store is not strictly random.
The seed value doesn't affect the distributive law. If it does, the RNG is horribly broken.
Huh? I never said streaks shouldn't happen and unlocking the same (UR) weapon several times in a row does start to look unlikely when it happens for the 4th/5th time in a row when all 21 UR weapon slots are not maxed.
Unlock UR weapon A first time
Unlock UR weapon A second time (1 in 21)
Unlock UR weapon A third time (1 in 441)
Unlock UR weapon A forth time (1 in 9261)
Unlock UR weapon A fifth time (1 in 194,481)
Personally I want to know what the odds are that the last 7 upgrades for maxing a manifest (from 210 upgrades) would be all for the same weapon since that happened to me with the collector SMG.

Dun dun duuuuuuuuuun. /dramatic chipmunk

That's basically the entire point.
I'm in the top 5% on the leadership board, and have about half the UR weapons, most at level III or less before spending 10M credits and trying to upgrade my rare and UR weapons. Have all characters..
I spent 5M on PSP, 3.5M on Arsenal packs, and 1.5M on SP packs. What went wrong.....I seem to get mostly got level IV ammo.
Really sux and frustrating.
Anyone with same experience or any advice about best way of upgrading advanced weapons would really appreciate it.
Top 5%? Impressive.
What does that matter for the topic at hand? Btw... that's like walking up to a biker gang and gushing about your tuned Vespa. ![]()
Random is (pseudo) random. Statistically it will even out over time. Marksmad and others in this thread already explained the mechanics.
Level 4 consumables are pretty good to have and give you a greater advantage than a weapon upgrade.
BioWare isn't going to change anything, support for ME3 has ended.
This discussion is so old, you could have found a dozen threads explaining the issue if only you had bothered to look.
IT`S A TRAP
Smells like a bit trolly this thread does yes

It's usually called seed, yeah.
Another rape seed? This day is shadowed by the Canola!!!
That's basically the entire point.
I was addressing your recommendation to stop buying if a UR doesn't drop in the first three packs.

The top 30 in CPs are mostly hackers, there are only a few I would think legit. In any case, I have played with a few of them and with one exception, they are crap.
The guys I would acknowledge as true masters of the game are those with multiple legit Plat solos, like NightSlasher, TechnoTurian, F-something (the guy who did all those Volus solos).

Yeah, and they are all in the top 1%. Most are in the 1000 best worldwide. Because that happens automatically if you play long enough to get really good.
5% is something you can achieve with ~50 missions.
Do you even gold solo bro?
Srsly though store mechanics are a suck. This is well established though I personally don't mind when people bash it for its rightful rubbishness.

Proof: I'm in the top 1% and I are teh scrubbycakes. I just play a lot.
That's why i get pissy at randoms. I'm not comfortable soloing with spectators, and they love to die ASAP to leech.
I've made several attempts at Plat solos, but rarely make it past wave 9 because of clinging to my missiles for wave 10 objectives, just in case.

Fibs.
I suspect I will always be scrubby ![]()
Edit: I've never soloed Gold (despite what my N7HQ says)
On topic:
What about double UR packs? I never had a single one til I was getting closer to maxing my manifest. I once bought 6 packs and got 6 URs, 4 of them from double UR packs. Then in the space of 3 weeks, I went from needing 12 URs to maxing, with again, 4 coming in double packs. (though to be fair the closer I got to maxing, the more I played, and on plat).
What are your experiences?
And before you ask, I did nothing to the RNG god to improve my luck ![]()

I interpreted it as OP conveying his/her relative experience/output and perceived corresponding lack of URs/input.

I'm top 1% on Xbox and top 3% on PC, which is proof that it takes no ability at all - and since you just played with me you know that better than anyone ![]()

no I'm not trolling...
before this poor run of luck ; I seemed to get one uncommon or UR every to 5 PSP or arsenal packs....the last few months have just like being on a bingo machine (youy keep going back in the hope of a big hit).
Minbd you, I did get loads of level iv ammo (which I never ever got before this 10m credit run). In fact until last month (after 400 hr game play), only got one ammo IV, now I have stacks. Just cant seem to unlock the last URs or upgrade them.
Someone mentioned that reserve packs would be the way to go. apparently it has the highest UR drop rate of 4.3% is arsenal packs; PSP drop rate rates have only have 2.3%.. Admittedly this was based on a single person keeping tracks on purchases based on 50,000,000 credits - that;s a huge amount of game time! and avagerage drop rates across all packs (SP, PSP, Arsenal and Reserve) once you get past common and uncommon items/characters is under 5%
Any thoughts anyone? Maybe just a bad run/bad luck
